- 'Saturnine' is a novel in the Siege of Terra series, written by Dan Abnett, I loved this book so much I contacted 'The Grape Lords of Terra' animators to bring a certain scene to life!
Because of Games Workshops Animation Policy, it was never finished, I hope you enjoy what managed to get done.

I say you finish it and upload it to the web, worst they’ll do is make you take it down, once it’s on the web it’s there forever. Screw GW and their ridiculous policies. Their horrible animations, reading this in the book was amazing, the whole third act is deserving of a film or animation.
The concept animation here is about as good as what GW has produced. (To be fair, the GW animation frames look good. The frame rate, however...)
Great short, so much Talent, Games Workshop are idiotic money grubbers to shut down fans building their customer base for them. I really hope it all goes very wrong for them in the next few years, greed does not deserve to be the custodian of the franchise

It shows what a tool Fulgrim is that he really thought an Imperial Fist was trying to crawl from the battlefield.
Treating Sigusmund like he's some broken toy walking in circles, the hubris.
He is just toying with the Marine in the audiobook. Much more like a cat letting a mouse escape only to catch it again.
Well the daemon piloting his body isn't as experienced with fists as Fulgrim is
Fulgrim has one of the few actual believable falls to chaos in the series. Bitch boy Horus was cringe af.

We gonna miss the fact that sigismund using the chains connected to his sword to get the strike on Fulgrim was amazing even though it's not completed

Dorn absolutely dismantling Fulgrim in their duel was such a bad ass moment.
I recall it being a very even fight, tho, not being killed by Fulgrim is a mighty achievement unto itself.
@@jamesmckenna4460 not at all. Dorn absolutely humiliated Fulgrim in this fight making the coward flee and killing his honor guard after as well. Dorn is always overlooked as a fighter but is one of the single most effective primarchs in canon.
@@proudsaiyanprince2651 Which is silly as each book comes out Dorn just becomes more and more powerful oh, he can beat Alpharius and demon Fulgrim. He starts to become more Mary Sue then Roboute lol. I'll bet he bitch slaps Angron off the wall while Sanguinus takes on Ka'Banda again.

@@proudsaiyanprince2651 my comment wasn't meant to detract from Dorn (my personal daddy Primarch, beside the Lion) - no - it's that fulgrim held the fuck back, and Dorn survived _that_. I'm not sure if you're aware of how powerful a combatant Fulgrim was, but it's a testament to Dorn's massive balls, sword, shield, and muttonchops that he was able to contend with and arguably win against Fulgrim. I thought only the Khan, Lion, and Sanguinius could beat him, and though perty beat him down too, he kinda got played by fulgrim
If GW ever lifts their animation ban, I hope you'll revisit this animation. These clips bring life to a universe I absolutely love to read about.

The best moment of that whole book was this one fight. How Dorn was mostly silent the whole fight while Fulgrim goaded him was incredible.
“Deeds are my words!” That line gives me chills when I read it

Clearly this artist knows Dorn better than games workshop, he remembered, his strongest caracteristic....his mustache.
And to think in 10000 years or so he will meet who is surely to become the greatest in his legions history- Boy.
Is there any established canon on Dorn’s facial hair? I’ve always seen him as clean shaven up until or after the heresy and the big mustache appears somewhere between the great scouring and the Iron Cage.

It works so well that nowadays i think the clean shaved look seem...insufficient for his caracter somehow, it just fits him too well
@@pensador6953 if he were to return in the 41st millennium I would want him to be grizzled compared to his great crusade days. Mech arm, beard/mustache and maybe even a missing eye would be kinda cool. I also like to think the mustache grew during the long weeks of watching most of his sons die in the iron cage as Dorn’s rage and depression grew.

I disagree. H&B was fine with the stories it wanted to tell, it would never be enough if it borrowed scenes from books that required further context to understand and may even be considered as spoilers.

@@xaviersands999 for real, we are getting some great stories out of these episodes. But nothing will ever appease the "fAn aNiMatIOns dIEd fur dIs" mob. The latest with the Necron and Chaos Terminators was dope af. A full-on look at just *how* Trazyn is so fuckin ace.
The show gave me nausea to watch because of how choppy the animation was, the voice acting was Adequate at best, half the time there was no animation in scenes but instead just stills was a moving camera panning over it. It was not a good show, it certainly wasn’t better than the fan made animations that died to make it
Without a shadow of doubt so far this is the dopest scene from the siege of terra so far it's a damn shame this wont get finished brother

Those of us who are self admitted simps for Sigismund will always have the fact that he was probably the only baseline astartes to land not one but two pretty solid hits on a daemon primarch. Also I just listened to the part in Warhawk where Sigi Boi kills that Son's of Horus captain and Rand asks him who it was and he is like "no one he was a bitch" and the whole book Artchuletta or whatever his name is was like puffing himself up to be some champion for Horus. Seriously made me laugh out loud.
Does what Rylanor did count as landing two hits? Fulgrim honestly has the worst record for getting his ass handed to him by Astartes tbh.

@@aria5614 I doubt it's the same space marine. I'm pretty sure the one Sigismund defeats with ease is one of the newer recruits, created and raised through the ranks all during the Heresy. Like they rushed production of them to fill the holes left after Istvann.

As a fan of the Iron Warriors, I can't help but smile for the first few seconds when I see a wounded and "defeated" Imperial Fists, but that smile goes away when I see an Emperor children... And I get sad seeing that it is Fulgrim himself who has found him. But seeing Papa arrive to save his son is always nice to watch.
What Chapter and book is that from?
@@ChapterMasterValrak I don't know but i think the Iron Warriors and Imperial Fists they can put his difference away for fight against a common enemy. In this case: Fulgrim Bitch Boi. Or tested case: The Beast

@@missfortunemain9064 its implied Russ killed one of the 2 lost primarchs. Magnus would have died if not for Tzeench, and dont forget Angron (if Russ was ordered to kill him) or Horus (if he was not taken by guilt or whatever).
Would love to see a version of Dorn's "I am the fortress now" speech from right before the attack.

hammer and bolter is ok, just a bit hit and miss. As someone growing up in the late 80's/early 90's, I'm of the opinion that we should be glad we have any animation now! back then we had nothing and you were at risk of being bullied because 40k was seen as 'nerd shit'.

This was very well written and it looks like the animation process had only begun. The voice acting was excellent and it was a very nice touch you did with the voice distortion being emotionally triggered.
The quintessential Sigismund moment. Thanks for putting in the effort. This is good stuff.

The voice actor for Fulgrim was great. The style makes him sound like a Castlevania character.
i came back to this animation years later, you say it's incomplete, i desire no further. it's now a classic
I love how in less then 10 seconds of speech and storyboard animation you gave more badd ass vibes to dorn of all people the gw ever did.(granted I haven’t read this particular novell yet)
It is said that that one Imperial Fist in the beginning would survive the heresy, and he would go on to achieve his own great victory:
Trolling a company of Iron Warriors into retreat without even leaving his spot on the wall.

It's a true mastery over animation when you can recognize each of the characters even when they're basically stickmen.
In this battle Rogal Dorn chooses a greatsword and shield as his primary weapons to face Fulgrim, many of Fulgrims blows are blocked by his shield... Dorn becomes the wall... the impenetrable shield of the Emperor and Terra. The last Wall.
It is symbolic, not just a weapon loadout.

I knew Sigismund was a chad but I didn't know he was awesome enough to actually hit Fulgrim twice with a sword and managed to leave a scar on his face.

I know GW are being idiotic about fan animations but realistically what would happen if you did finish it? There’s no way they couldn’t like it, it’s such a cool animation so far. @@yabarber6902 My younger brother is one of the Grape Lords. Unfortunately the reason why they wont finish it is they can't monitize the video. They're trying to build their animation channel/careers and the time it takes to do all of this is insanely consuming and costly. Without being able to capitalize on it, all that energy, time, planning could be used to do their own animations which they can grow and profit from. It's ridiculously sad what GW have done, they've really shot themselves in the foot because they see dollar signs rather then growth in their reach, community and potential current or future collaborators of their channel.

@@yabarber6902 It's brutal for them, the amount of energy spent on these... The other ideas they had in the pipeline would have been amazing. Flip it could have been so cool. They had an idea around a podcast theme, with a Ork called Ghazghul FasDhakka interviewing any and everyone around the imperium. Such a shame!

This feels like everywhere at the end of time, but in animation form.
Watching this a year later and I think that the unfinished nature of the project adds it. The clear animation at the start is fresh in the mind of the marine. The sheer presence of being so close to a primarch burns itself into the marines memories. The details become faded as he struggles to reach the sword, all while his remaining strength leaks way from hi. Struggling to keep his eyes open he can just make out the blurs of of Sigismund swordsmanship and pure zealotry against the traitors. Then he can hear his father's voice clearly against the sounds of war, and his face and can make out the determination on Dorn's face before their battle becomes an event myth to echo down the ages.
Love what I saw, even in the sketch parts, it still was WH40k through and through. I do hope to this is getting the treatement it deserves when GW finally comes to senses again.
It shows how much I loved TTS, I expected SuperAnchors to reprise his voice for Dorn again, the voice used here though was more then fitting as well!
Sigismund cutting that fallen fop across the face is wonderful.

A good short episode i would like to see done .It have to on a 30k short novel about the Night Lords when they were a loyalist legion still. A lesson in Darkness is a perfect length for a Hammer and bolter episode to show of the Night Lords being Night Lords in the Emperor name to expand the Imperium of Man .
