@@educational4434 It also doesn't perform the way it claims, and it smells really bad (which is probably cancerous I'd imagine) and other annoyances. I agree with Annette about it being junk, and Luke said he wouldn't purchase it.
Methinks the pot/kettle supports glowing red hot when folded in and in direct exposure to the burner flame isn't too good. Perhaps wider splayed legs would make it more sturdy too.
As you said, "Why is there no windscreen?" Yea, the legs are more of a hazard than a benefit. The magnet is a good idea if the legs are functionally safe. A possible mod for the company would be a separate stand/windscreen the stove could set in. The windscreen could have separate flip up panels for the sides of the windscreen. Your review was very informative and thought-provoking. Thanks again.
The comments below are very good and again I enjoy your reviews because they are fair honest and practical, I did end up buying the Hopper Field table after your review, and very pleased with this little table. Thanks again and look forward to your next video.
Wondering if having the pot supports turned inward, blocking half of the flames from directly hitting the pot, has a significant impact on the efficiency. When I see so much glowing metal that is not in contact with the pot, I immediately think of it as a heat sink that is piping BTUs into the chassis of the stove instead of heating my pot...
Hi Luke! That one is for sure a pass for me. That little BRS stove doesn't have ignitors, but it DOES have a fuel pipe next to the burner on both burners. I LOVE the one I have. It folds up so nice and compact for a two burner stove!
MSR Pocketrocket 2.0 is good enough for me, packs easy boils as fast, takes less space. I also got a trangia kitchen I got on sale with tea/coffee pot, 2 difference sized pots and a pan/lid, for like 70 bucks, also can get the fuel adaptor for it to make it more versitale for a small amount if I want. Thanks for the review, it's cool to see what you test and what to stay away from. Much appreciated.
Hi Luke! May I suggest for this stove, the manufacturer should angle the leg mounts out quite a bit to gain good stability. I'm sure you thought of this solution to the stability issue. Thank you for ALL your GREAT reviews!!!
Are you sure the stove is designed to have the supports for the PAN turned INWARD during operation? The pan supports were glowing red hot while turned inward. That is a HUGE THERMAL STRESS.
The reason you invert the fuel is for cold days the fuel doesn’t perform well in cold weather so you have to heat the fuel and invert the tank, I would agree the legs are a gimmick, but the burner has high performance, the smell will me the manufacturer oils burning off your stove, like all stoves even your home stove your suppose to do a burn in to burn of oils the is very common. The firemaple products are very good and lots of people use them and have great reviews. You do realize all products are made in Asia because of low manufacturing costs, if these items were made in the west they would coast you 5 x as much if not more.
Luke good review and agree the legs are a hazard. Side note suggest using this product for bad threads and zippers, Zipper Ease Lubricant from Walmart about $8.
The inverted canister is most useful when temps drop below freezing. The two fuels in the canister separate in cold temps, and inverting the canister helps it burn better. The legs would certainly keep the stove up off the snow, and if you set them well in the snow, it would be more stable. I agree the smell is most likely the paint, and will probably dissipate with use, but I could be wrong there.
Been using the original version of the Saturn for the last year and a bit, and it's been a fairly solid performer. We use the stove for cooking, and a Kelly Kettle for the tea. Was interested to see what improvements were made, but they appear to be tinkering for the sake of it.
Hey Luke I'm watching your video from a year ago nearby monster storm camping in the remote mountain. I saw a shot of a mushroom and foliage. You should do a photo in black and white to see how it looks. I think it would be fantastic. When are you and sweet Susie doing more videos at the cabin? ❤ MS Ann
I'd like to see someone do a review on - "CAMPINGMOON Smart Backpacking Stove Stand with Upper Support Trivet Z01 (High stand with spacer adapter Z01+Z03)". It has lots of parts that can attach to it to make just about any type of cooking situation you can think of.
I suspect the instability has more to do with how wide the stance of the legs is (the legs are not much wider than the stove itself). A tripod is the easiest way to get three stable legs on uneven ground. With four legs the ground needs to be more even. I agree with the rest of your review except for the sale on amazon. Amazon is not as widely used for us in the Netherlands
Hi Luke, great review as usual but just a thought, have you tried the inverter canister with the pot support outside from the burner? I noticed you kept the supports inside right on the burner and they went red incandescent maybe that dispersed and lowered the power of the burner?Just a thought......
Hey Luke and sweet Susie just watched the video of you guys at the cabin intense storms in off-grid cabin 1 year ago. Whe are you guys doing more videos at the cabin? Please, please. I miss sweet Susie ❤️. thank you, Ms Ann ♥️
Myself, I don't have a need for something like this. I can see a way to gain some height to make it easier to use while standing next to it. PVC pipe with some straight couplers with plastic spikes on the end to stick into the ground. But, with a little modding, you can do that to even cheaper stoves and have an easier time with it.
Hey Luke, enjoy your vids! One quick question. You ‘boiling water’ tests usually (or always I think) involve an uncovered pot! Why don’t you use the lid? Doesn’t that facilitate faster boiling? Just curious!
A wider and more adjustable tripod would help with stability on rough terrain, similar to camera tripods, but with only 2 settings and a narrow tripod, that even looks dangerous. I agree a fourth leg would help, but I cant think it would help as much as more adujstability in the legs in camping situations. Maybe someone will come up with a magnetic caddy so the fuel canister can be upright while keeping the canister off the ground as well.
The FireMaple stove looks similar to the Snow Peak GigaPower LI Stove, which has four telescoping legs with a built-in windscreen; the fuel canister can be mounted inverted. The Snow Peak is made in Japan and it's very expensive.
Snow Peak products are expensive, some of them indeed not that great but most of them are great. The stove you mentioned, has a full stainless steel construction, much bigger burner is super stable and comes with a life time warranty.
At 78 I always appreciate the thumbs up reminder, thanks and I would not pay that for the stove. I know some of the cost is for the legs, and I would never consider even trying to use them. Toss the legs and lower the price would be a good marketing idea. I'm also betting the odor will go away with a little use. God bless.
Unless you were going to boil at least 4 batches of water or other cooking after boiling water that needed high heat, why would anyone spend 5min heating up to invert when it boils water in 2:43. Lol
also turning the pot supports in for a kettle is not practical either. try turning them outward. the only time you'd rurn them in for cooking is for something tiny like a small cup
Nah, I don't like it. It's too "busy." You got 4 feet on the unit--that's simple stable. And 3 legs, no matter the height, makes it top-heavy and just wobbles. And why would anyone need to invert the canister? For what? It's "over-engineered" and kinda sketchy. Just stick to what already works, don't tweek something that doesn't need tweeking, it doesn't improve it. I would use the legs as Green Elephant poles for my hamster's tent.
Can you imagine how top heavy and unstable this would be if you had a pan full of stew on this with the legs? I dont think so.also dont want my food with the sherwin williams spice
Forest Fire Prevention 101: Don't have an open flame in a situation where it can be easily be tipped over onto the ground (or onto your kid, dog, tent, etc..)
Great review, but this is not the stove for me. I would never use the legs. I'm happy with my plain old little canister stove that weighs nothing and fits in a tiny pocket.
These Chinese items are designed for the Asian market, China, Korea, Japan. So the legs being the length they are fit what Asians have for gear. Short legged tables, short chairs and the like. Just looking at this stove my thoughts are it isn't worth the money as it is really a one trick pony. The legs are not mind blowing and it preforms as any other above on the market.
It is a definite no for me. It's not worth $110. I paid $30 for a Gas One stove and I love it. It works really well and the fuel i cheap at $4.69 for a package of four canisters.
They tried to reinvent the wheel and come up with.....a wheel. There is a cheap little brief case stove like at the asian hotpot restaurants that does the same job that thing is $100usd online! little breifcase stove less than $25au
Thanks Luke for saving us money and preventing us from buying junk!!
He didn't say it was junk. He actually likes the Saturn stove design, just not the wobbliness of the angle of how these tripod extensions attached
@@educational4434 It also doesn't perform the way it claims, and it smells really bad (which is probably cancerous I'd imagine) and other annoyances. I agree with Annette about it being junk, and Luke said he wouldn't purchase it.

That was my first thought as well.

Not this one ,but the regular Saturn is .

The spread angle on the legs is too small. Having nearly scalded myself with tippy stoves, I would not purchase this stove.
New here. Just subscribed to your TH-cam channel. Came over from mystery man featuring you're TH-cam channel on his channel.
Hanging the fuel bottle from the magnet will add to the stability, but I wonder if it would be enough to really help.
Great review!! Thank you

These are not sold on Amazon U.S. Only the original Saturn stove is
Try boiling the water with the lid on the pot
I am guessing that the canister underneath would help with stability a bit mabe they should have lowered that a bit so you get a more stable platform.
I love this stove
Have you heard of a pellet stove for hot tent camping, think it is called hori5, and it claims burn time for 10hrs, would appreciate your input
This and several of similar / rockets too
When the legs are fully extended, can you dig the legs into the ground to gain stability?

What is the purpose of the legs? Deep snow? Law suit?
Why did you leave the pot supports over the flame? Surely you would have had a faster boil time with the pot supports folded out?

4:21 Pass. Unstable without anything on it, so think how unstable it will be with a pot of hot water on top.
Thanks for the great review. I wish you had your logo on the back of clothing, not on the front. Only buy when it's on the back!
A tripod was most likely chosen because it is more stable on uneaven ground. I wouldn’t anticipate using them in most cases.
Nice
Waiting for version 2.0
Yeah... that's a no.
Interesting review, after watching your no nonsense review, I think I'd pass on this particular stove. 👍🏻

I would stake it to the ground somehow

This will not be on my Christmas list. .
Thanks luke
All this to do what my bushbox in my side pocket does? Let me het my pickup truck or quad or pack mule to haul it and the gas tanks for it!
you can bury the legs a little bit in the dirt for more stablity.
They should have just added a standard tripod thread to the base. Then we could use a decent tripod of any height.
It's the "bump and scald".
4 legs are not as stable as 3, for a static object.
Have the old saturn , not worth these extra features

I think I'll stick with my soto windmaster. I'm betting that black coating is powder coat and it will forever stink when it gets hot
I'll stick with the original stove. For me it's perfect.
just a heads up / FYI went to the fire maple link and got a malware attempt, blocked by my security software. don't want anyone else to have an issue
I'll keep & continue to use my Soto WindMaster w/4-Plex pot holder.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada.
Performance probably would have changed if temperature was below freezing when inverted.
No rain overlay? Luke never makes a video without a rain overlay... 🤔
So many deal breakers that I'm surprised it made it out of product testing, assuming it was tested.
Can you imagine how top heavy and unstable this would be if you had a pan full of stew on this with the legs? I dont think so.also dont want my food with the sherwin williams spice
I think the 3 legs would be fine if the angle was right. It's the narrow stance that makes it dangerous.
Forest Fire Prevention 101: Don't have an open flame in a situation where it can be easily be tipped over onto the ground (or onto your kid, dog, tent, etc..)
That Saturn stove looks more like Sputnik
Tripods are a problem unless you can adjust the legs out further like a camera tripod.
The tripods just look like a disaster waiting to happen. Too unstable looking.
Trash the three legs and it will be a lot safer for camping - I liked the foldable stove the best
the reason it is a tripod, is because 3 points denote a plane
That could be dangerous to people's health. I wonder what chemicals are in the paint. The price is ridiculous. Thank you. Ms Ann ♥️
This is competitor to Snow Peak's GigaPower LI Stove. You kind of tested incorrectly.

“Whatever.” 🤣😂
A shame that it doesn't also run on propane.
The case is worth more than the stove purpose of this stove is to fill up the trash can
Never a fan of the iso fuel. Wood or propane is easiest for me in my area
