This has been my “go to” account for all things swim bait. You actually show yourself using what you talk about. Great stuff dude. Cheers mate. SoSoCal
I was in AZ visiting my parents last summer. I made a couple of trips to The Hook Up. It's an amazing place, I could spend hours in there just mesmerized. I ended up coming home with like 500.00 in new tackle (and could have easily spent 5,000.00 and would have still left wanting). Guess when I come out next year I'll have to grab a couple of these.
Great video and presentation of the magdraft series. I especially loved when you were explaining about how you didn’t trust the stock hook rigging and replaced the original with your own style rigging. Many people advertise baits but not many will talk about their customizing on their baits. Love your vids, Keep grinding I know I’ll be watching
Hey Geoff,, good video, I do a similar mid fir the 10in I actually run almost the same type of stinger hook but I actually rig it on top like a butch brown rig so I can fish the bait even better on the bottom
crazybassfisher 5 pounder, which to you doesn’t sound that big haha, but for here in the northeast, that was a great fish especially for only one of my first times fishing the bait. Also lost one that I think was over 6, but could’ve been a lot bigger!
I personally believe the magdraft is the best multispecies paddletail out there largies smallies and big trout love it. Seen some big cats caught on it to.
I usually run a BB style rig on my mag draft if I’m bouncing the bottom. Never thought about moving the bottom hook back, I guess I was stuck on using the magnet. Great video and giving your insight on the bait.
@crazybassfisher I've rigged a 10-inch and an 8-inch this way with Decoy's. Heading out next week to test it. Have you had any issues with hooking fish in the gills? Thanks for the awesome content.
Hi, Jeff. I noticed that the eyes were missing from the 10" Magdraft you were using as a "demonstrator" while you talked about this bait and re-rigging it. I'm about to buy a couple of 8" Magdrafts and need to know if the eyes on these baits tend to fall out with use. If so, I'll PULL them off and re-glue them with hi-flex epoxy. Thanks, Chris
Awesome video! Curious if you are using the 8" or the 10" and how deep either of those run. I have some ordered and coming in 2-3 days. I've been using the 6" in probably 2-4" of water and was hoping the bigger, heavier baits don't run much deeper.
Nice Video ! Getting More confident using giant swim baits everyday. Don't get as many bites , But!! Getting quality Bites. Chasing (MY Ghost) 10lb plus Beast ! My current PB 6.5 !! More than Halfway there !! Be safe God Bless and Keep the Gr8t videos coming !!
Cool I was actually fishing the 10" Trout today. It's and old one which has now been converted to a weedless using the 12/0 Beast hook. I do like that rigging you came up with using the Quad hook makes perfect sense!! Hoping Manufactuers start blowing your phone up, stay true to what your doing. 👍🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼 P.S. Ben needs to hook you up! No pun intended, since your pushing product.
Awesome video! Got this bait in the 6” version, and even with that bait I had the snag problem. I’m going to have to try your rigging method but I think I’m going to go with the 8” instead👍🏻
Have you ever line thru rigged the freestyle? I’m cheap, need the value of two body for the price of this one and I want a treble. Thoughts or other recommendations in the 6 or 7 inch range? Thanks!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I know that night fishing is illegal in spots around there but I know a lot of big fish are caught at night and I was wondering what your thoughts are on night fishing
The 1/0’s are gonna be a little big for the bait overall, you might snag the bottom more if you fished it on the bottom. For fishing it up top in the middle of the water column, you should be good!
I live in Minnesota and I was wondering if you would still recommend the 10 inch or the 8 I would probably get the 10 because there are a couple 7 and 8s in my fisheries and I just wanted to make sure
@@crazybassfisher thank you and I throw a 8 inch hudd and it gets bit pretty good so I might just start with the 10 because I have confidence in a 8 inch soft bait already
crazybassfisher taha my local store has them in every color, its just like your store in the vid but no custom stuff like bullshads and hinkles!. I think the megabass would be mint for black butte lake
Ummm if the striper want something slow it should work really well, if they want something fast, than I would try the 9” Magslowl, you can fish that bait a lot faster
I don’t know, man. i’ve got both the regular magdraft & the freestyle. i’m not a huge fan of them. i’ve yet to catch anything on one in my local lakes. i’ve had the most success with the citizens. i’ve crushed them on that bait. also, with the magdraft that i’ve got... it swims funky. it almost swims on its side almost. if I don’t stuff a nail weight on the opposite side, it just swims fucked up. kinda disappointing really.

@@crazybassfisher Geoff, I have a killer rigging tip for boot tail swim baits that I came up with. I appreciate your love of big swimbaits and your sharing your tips and enthusiasm. Take two screw locks and tie them together with a thin piece of braid, the length of the braid depends on the length of the boot-tail swimbait you are using. one of my front caught 8lb outta sag this year on 10” mag definitely that bait speaks for itself. The price is so hard to beat as well!
Yeah! Paul caught a couple nice ones with it!

Yes dude! The bait flat out just gets bit! I’ve definitely hooked my fair share of catfish on them hahaha
Ive been throwing an 8" magdraft but i took off the belly hook and have been waking with a stinger hook on the back, it destroys bass around the grass
Yes dude! The bait comes through grass actually super well!
Love the Hook Up.We are so lucky to have them in the valley.

Bought my MegaBass Valdivia Destroyer from The Hookup Tackle shop! Love my rod and this place sooooo upset I don’t live closer!

@crazybassfisher another banger! I noticed that I get better bites on the magdraft compared to more expensive swimbaits. I thought it was just me..lol
It’s actually insane the amount of bites I have gotten over fishing a bait smith or hudd!
I just picked up a Mag Slow, and I like it so far. No fish yet, but I’m confident

try fishing it on a heavy snap or split ring. makes the swim much more consistant

Hey I have a question what is a good low priced glide bait I am throwing the ganteral and hudd so far lost a ten + and got a few 4s
You think you could get away with a 1/0 quad? I don’t own any size 1s but have a bunch of 1/0s laying around

Very informative thank you.

What’s your go to braid to mono knot and your go to big swimbait knot
The knot I use for my swimbaits is a double uni and my knot to mono to braid is a uni to uni knot
How does this compare to a Huddleston?
I moved from SoCal to Florida and I’m worried about using my 25lb mono on these Florida fish. Any recommendations?
use braid
Magdrafts are easily the most effective soft swimbait for me down here in texas
Yes! Those Texas bass must just love to crush the magdraft!
Can they be used in saltwater
What about the mag slow?
Should I put a stinger on my hud 68.
No need to put a stinger on a 6” bait, if the fish wants it, it’s gonna swallow the bait and get hooked!
Imma have to give it try bro! How do u think it would do on striper?
Ummm if the striper want something slow it should work really well, if they want something fast, than I would try the 9” Magslowl, you can fish that bait a lot faster
