I was deferred for adhd and asthma (childhood). I won an appeal that took 4 years to complete. I passed prac in early January and I have basic training in March. In my appeal I had to show a lot of evidence that I could function like any other person. If your going through an appeal just keep at it.
I'm worried now. I had asthma when I was a child. I'm 28 now and my asthma went away from the age of about 19. Even though it'd been around 10 years since I had asthma will they deffer me do you think?
I got sent home today from glencorse my medical failed due to kidney stones I had 2 years ago I want to appeal it I'm gutted as this was a one off never had them since
This is really helpful advice. I spent the best part of about 3 years in the medical appeals process fighting my case, getting deferred and declared permanently unfit, but I start basic in a couple of weeks. Anyone who is stuck in the appeals process; do not give in, if you really want it then find a way to make it happen. See a lot of lads who are perfectly fit and would make fantastic soldiers get screwed over by Capita, when in reality if they appealed they would get in. The Army seem to be playing fast and loose with JSP 950 regarding Asthma as I had symptoms less than four years ago (at the time of my medical) and it was not even mentioned, ironically.
James Townsend. Thats really interesting, I'm currently going through a medical appeal for Colitis. I'm at my 'second stage appeal'. Just interested in how many appeals you went through?
@@jamescaney2968 Hi mate, I've recently sent off my medical forms off with the understanding I'm going to get declared 'unfit' because I've also been diagnosed with Colitis. I wondered if you could tell me anything about what reasons they gave for refusing you or what you needed to show on appeal? (just so I can start to get my self in order when I inevitably have to appeal). Cheers,
Good post, as the OC of a Recruiting Team (and a medical professional) the bottom line up front is because so many 'medical' issues are on a scale of severity they require investigation if a candidate is recognised as having the relevant signs and symptoms. Unfortunately in the past (eg prior to this process) some candidates have progressed to basic training only for them to be compromised or put at risk during their employment due to a previously un recognised medical issues. I completely understand the frustration of candidates and the delays caused by the review process but identified there are safety reasons for this.
I had an operation on my bowel twelve years ago and have had to take a special form of treatment ever since, as well as having a plate in my stomach. I had just graduated university and was seriously considering the military as I had always been a fitness guy and loved structure, team work and achievement. In the end God had other plans.
Good to know but I’m surprised you didn’t cover high blood pressure or heart murmurs. I was deemed unfit when I applied back in 1996 as in them days it was a permanent bar but when I applied 5 years ago for the reserves it popped up again and turned out to be a hole which after two years I got repaired and have been in for 3 years. It was a long road of letters and fighting but I’d always say if it’s your dream fight anything. Loads of lads get deferred for murmur but 9/10 it’s innocent and good to go, and having echo grams at selection helps speed things up. 👍
I’m thankful the army do ECG now I didn’t know I had a heart problem and had to wait until it’s fixed… now awaiting a heart operation but haven’t given up yet. passed the fitness with flying colours aswell…. It’s a Long process but it’s worth it 💪🏻
I had an scoliosis and a couple old injuries when I was younger got a doctors note before ac and there was no bother at all, off to Catterick in March, get any worries looked at prior you'll be grand ✌
Many of these conditions are disqualifying for enlistment in the US military. Asthma is really, really tough to get a waiver for. Almost impossible in the Marines. Many back and joint injuries are a no-go also. I think sickle cell is also a DQ condition. Of course there are many other issues out there. I know my #2 daughter had a problem not on your list that was a DQ condition. I was disgustingly healthy when I enlisted in the Marine Corps, but that went to hell in a hand basket by the end of my six-years active duty. I was able to enlist in the Air National Guard but now, 21-years and two wars later, I'm 100% service connected disabled. My knees and back are wrecks. My hearing is shot. My #1 daughter was good when she enlisted, but now after 17-years and a trip to Afghanistan later she couldn't enlist on entry level even if she bribed the doctor.
@@MilitaryFitness Typical. On the Marine Corps sites and blogs I'm a member on, we spend a lot of time teasing each other about our various maladies. Might as well laugh. Too late to cry. :-)
Thank you for this mate, I really wanna join the army but I’ve kinda put id off because I went the doctors with low mood due to loads of life events happening at once, I thinks it’s been put down as slight depression but I think I will get a no because of this😞
Thanks mate, i have been going the gym for 10 years now and I’m absolutely gutted I went the doctors but I’ll give it a go and hopefully be okay, if not I could always appeal and get loads of evidence I was never bad just abit lost in life with what was going on at the time, thanks again
Went to the assessment centre with both ears fully blocked which caused 8 months of chasing around my gp to only in the end going private because they can't do their job right the first time. Finally on my way to Pirbright but if I get medically discharged it's probably gonna be because of my hearing as its horrendous for my age.
Hi mate, huge thanks for your time and effort you put on this channel helping everyone. I've been thinking applying to join next year but i had acid reflux back in 2019 - 2020 but Im pretty sure ive been cured. Do you know whats the rules for it ? Thanks again 🫡
All I can do is apply but I'm worried asthma will probably go against me being able to join. Only time it effects me is if I get a chest infection but the army will probably see it differently.
I pretty much have the most mild reaction to peanuts I’m talking I can eat loads of peanuts and get like maybe a slit itch in my throat that goes away in minutes and it’s stopping me from Being a para
Could you maybe make a video explaining food allergies in the military, and how that works. If you get immunotherapy successfully, can you appeal a case?
No the process and standards are exactly the same, you are the same soldier, do the same training, experience the same mental and physical strains. I am a reserve soldier and having experienced a lot also with regular soldiers some of the best are reservists
Hi, thanks for your videos and this one in particular 👍🏻 How about arms? I cant fully extend my left arm due to an issue at birth. After rehab as a baby ive led a normal life and am pretty sporty
I have been on medication for asthma since I was born I hadn’t had an asthma review in 4 years and my gps had been putting false information into their system I came off medication 1 year and a half ago now and I have been fine and my Gp have provided a letter saying I haven’t been on medication or had an asthma review in 4 years and I have my assessment a week today so hoping it won’t stop me but if I am deferred I’m not gonna give up fighting it

I haven’t seen any information about this and wanted to ask if I could still join? Other than that great video! A lot of other questions answered and now I just need to find out about this!
Hi Sam. Little update on my application I’ve passed my medicals and now I’m waiting for my army AC dates. However they have said that my condition I had 7 years ago would usually reject me from joining the military they have let me onto my AC but said I might be failing my medicals once I get there. What’s the best thing to do get plenty secondary evidence and GP letters as I’m all fine and no breathing problems. Any advice would be great
Had a Kidney stone when I was 1 years old, never had one since (20 years) but tried to join at 18 and was ruled out for it. Now 21 and thinking about trying again and going down the appeals process? Do you think I’d have any chance ? Also do you know if the medical requirements are stricter for Royal Marines due to nature of role ?
Hi, I am looking to join a branch of the British Military and diagnosed with Graves. I have read hyperthyroidism is a DQ. Last occurence was 3 years ago and no meds. I don't want invasive procedures when I'm stable and doesnt impact me. My Endo happy to write a,report.
I was permanently rejected after I had appealed about eczema. I had already communicated that I don't have eczema and that I had dry skin caused by my day job to which they made changes and no lo ger have the problem. However because the GP had put eczema on my record and they changed it the medical team are still saying I'm a risk. But I didn't require any thing like secondary care or time off work so I don't know how I am a risk.
Hi, I got rejected from the army due to a 'clear history of lower back pain with scatia pain.' From my memory I only had one well documented injury which was last year when I was lifting weights. I was lifting weights and felt a pull and had pain for 3-4 weeks. I had an MRI scan and all tests, they all came back clear. The pain cleared up and I have been fine since. I am a boxer and athlete, I train 6 days week, and have had no pain to the point that I had completely forgotten about it until the army brought it up. From a non-medical standpoint, what are my chances with the appeal? Also, can I email hyperlinks to video and pictures showing my physical capability, since I am an extremely fit person
Hi matey, going in for the army brief next week having completed the first part of my application (inc. med survey). I had a couple GP appointments and physio sessions regarding my knee 18-36 months ago. I did so as there was a slight pain and discomfort so just wanted to make sure there wasn’t a serious issue and there wasn’t. Having lost weight doing a very strenuous physical job, and done a lot of leg work in the gym I am now absolutely fine, no pain no impairment. Just wondering how worried you think I should be. I’ve got mate in the army who said I’ll be fine but just wanted a second opinion. Cheers for vid👍
@@MilitaryFitness nice one I guess if they did take issue with it I could always go back to the doctors so they could check everything’s fine for sure and then have them write me a letter or something.
@@MilitaryFitness Hi mate, I have just been permanently rejected from the British Army, after an appeal and a further information appeal. The reason is due to a past minor knee issue which my doctor has told them is absolutely fine now. I completely disagree with the decision and have asked to be assessed in person. Have you got any advice on anything that I can do? If not, is it possible to apply for the Royal Navy after being rejected by the army ? Simply refuse to be told I am unfit for military service
ok this is super helpful, i had terrible asthma when i was 11 and before but have been completely fine for 7 years now. i'm still undergoing orthodontic treatment but that should hopefully be finished by the time im 20 (18 now) what about deviated septum? i think i have it and do tend to not breath through my noise/struggle then most people is that an issue? and last but not least i have slight hearing loss/dampning in my left ear and sometimes get tinnitus but its something i can coupe with but was worried about the hearing side . For example if i lay on my good ear i cant really hear clearly from the tv or my phone but when i switch its completely fine, or if people are talking/whispering its fine
Hi mate, was rejected from the Army for autism, it's very mild, I have a bachelors degree and box which shows I'm functional and I don't take medication for it, I also had an AC joint dislocation which was misdiagnosed and needed surgery after an appeal and had a depressive episode of about 6 months as a result of the misdiagnosis and subsequently finding out about the misdiagnosis, I've had a look at the eligibility requirement for medical and from this I'll need to appeal the autism, but should I also include the context of the depressive episode and the AC joint replacement as well? I sorted the GP letters for all of these conditions but was wondering if since the other 2 weren't part of my initial medical rejection whether or not I should include them, any help would be appreciated.
Hi mate! thanks for the great video. I had An ACL rupture injury 6years ago from playing football in my early 20s. Had a keyhole surgery for it. All fixed and I've been back playing football and running since . like i said this was 6years ago. I applied to join the army reserves but i failed my medical questionnaire based on the ACL rupture. my level 1A and 1B appeal was rejected. Thinking of going for the level 2 appeal. Do you think its worth it as I fear that I am chasing a dead battle but do not want to give up. I am now 31. started applying at 29. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanks and keep up the excellent work
Hi Sam, I was rejected from the army nearly 2 years ago because I was medically unfit due to my eyesight, I appealed it with a opticians report while they also said I would fine with glasses but I was still rejected, I still want to join and have tried but as they have deemed me to be unfit I cannot reapply. Do you think I could get an eye surgery and reapply ?
How difficult would it be to get in with self harm scars, I did it once when my long term girlfriend broke up with me and I was a bit drunk and immediately regretted it.
Hi, May I confirm how many medical tests you have to go through the miltary up until MOD 2? As we all know theres one at selection, is there anymore? Thanks in advance.
I’ve just been rejected due to isolated dermatitis I had for 4 months, needing no medical attention. sent my appeal of today with medical notes backing up that it had cleared up. what will the out come likely be ?
Hi mate, looking to join as an officer. Would they reject me over a very small untreated hernia and a history of abdominal muscle tears? Thanks, love the videos 👍
I have autism and adhd. And I always wanted to join the army since I was little, I thought my diagnosis will affect the chances of joining the British Army and aswell I can cope with them both. Thank you for making me realising I can still join.
Also I do have a question, is there anyway for a person to be in UKSF with a disability like autism and ADHD? Because I thought SFSG would be great for me after 2-3 years of experience apart of PARAS.
Thank you for the video! I failed the medical questionnaire for Aspergers. I was diagnosed when I was 7 years old. Im saving up to be reassessed as I dont believe that the diagnosis was accurate, or at least, what they noted of me isnt applicable today.
Hello, this video was extremely helpful. However I have a question, I was told I have migraines almost 2 years ago and required medication that I had to take if I felt a migraine coming on however, I haven’t taken the medication in months. Additionally, I was diagnosed with depression 3/4 years ago but stopped medication in October 2022. Would both of these things disqualify me from joining the army?
My one leg is shorter than my other leg due to a car accident in my youth. Now I walk with a heel but generally fully fit. Will that hinder my application
I’ve got some mild eczema on my hand (small patch) and on my fingers (2 fingers on each hand) I got rejected a few years ago and even the private gp I went to said it was bollocks to get rejected, any advice?
Hi mate, thanks for the tips in this video. I was wondering, I have had essential tremors on my hands right from my teens plus I'll be 30 by the time i join up and it never got worse or better and it also does not affect me in anyway other than thinking about it as a possible reason for getting medically disqualified and I have my assessment coming up in February. Do you think I will get disqualified for that? Thank you.
I was in a car accident 12 months ago and dislocated my hip, I didn’t need a operation they just put it back in place. I haven’t had any pain since and my movement is fine. Would this be ok?

Hi mate just wondering if anyone is in the same process as me: I’ve had acute medication as a one off for chest infection 2 and a half years ago which cleared up well and any chest x rays I’ve had have all been clear not found anything never had any form of Asthma or pumps or anything but I have a congenital condition to do with my chest however has never affected my breathing nor have I been diagnosed with any respiratory or cardiovascular disease. Would it help my case going to my GP and getting a letter stating I’m in no form of discomfort etc. Thanks

Hi mate, got a question here. I'm wanting to join the RAF as a mechanical techie in a couple years, I've been working on my fitness lately and have been using your guide for press ups very well, been working wonders so thanks for that. However, as I've been pushing the reps up and gaining strength I've struggled with knowing when and how to breathe. I can go through 15 or so without a break, but been finding it an issue as I just naturally hold my breath and when I try breathing it all goes horribly wrong. You got any advice for this? Cheers.
Hi buddy, there are a couple of ways of doing this but one full breath at the top of the press up works well. You could do 2-3 press ups then at the top of the third take a full breath and go again
@MilitaryFitness got my medical appeal reply today. Unfortunately they have made me permanently medically Unfit due to my past issues with ezcema. This was my last attempt due to my age. Wasn't meant to be for me
I know you Spoke about back pain and Sciatica but is there any information regarding hip pain? I applied early 2021 and got rejected due to My medical history of hip pain that has been undiagnosed. I understand I am able to appeal but do you know What information you would need for the appeal?

hello, i am trying to join the army but i have hypothyroidism. will it affect or disqualify me because of it. I mean it is stable and no symptoms (major and almost all minor too) are not seen or shown. I would be happy if you respond
Hey i noticed you reply to all comments, which is incredibly difficult, so thank you for that. My question is a bit complicated. WHen i was younger (dont recall exact age, but say 5-8 maybe, give or take a year or two.) i was told i had asthma, and was put on with inhalers. I outgrew it by age 10 (give or take 2 years.) and i personally havent used a single inhaler since then, but my mom kept getting more inhalers via my name, as they were free, so she could get them for herself without paying. That stopped at age 18, i then immigrated to the UK (family descent.) I havent been prescribed an inhaler for 4 years here, but i am worried that due to my mom using them throughout my childhood in canada, i will be deferred. (I have not yet applied.) Do you reckon ill be fine? ( i also show no symptoms of asthma, etc at all right now, stil worried though.)
So I have low von Willebrand factor but I know how strict the Army can be with blood issues. In my case I have never suffered with bleeds or had to take any medication. Doctors described it as an "aspirin like defect". I've looked at the JSP 950 and it doesn't look good for me. I'm just wondering if they make exceptions since it doesn't affect me at all. I've even got a letter from experts saying I'll be fine so is it even worth mentioning?
I have myclonic jerks which is minor epilepsy, it is not fits or seizures or anything like that, i've been on meds for it for a few years now and haven't had even the slightest twitch, would it be worth appealing how likely would it be i'd end up getting in the reserves?
Not to worried but I did have some breathing problems abit as a young teen and had to get throat surgery to get a small lump that was causing it out it’s completely fine now and has been for years so it should be fine wouldn’t it
I had a period off work sick this year, this is the first instance this has ever happened and since I have returned to work, this was put down as related to anxiety and low mood. Will this stop me from joining the army? I have provided the additional info as requested
i get my inhalers every few months when they are due at the doctors, however i havent used them for almost 10 years, would i still be classed as unfit?
ok i have asthma. however my last sytoms would be when i was 12-13. however i was sussex for scross country and county for swimming, normalyy both are very bad for asthma but i never had issues. im 16 at the moment no attacks or sign of it for years and even when i had it, it was mild even in cholrine water i rearely had attacks. ive been training for 2 years and have passed every test i could find on the internet would i get in?
I was born with a condition called catch 22q11, its not genetic but every 10000 cases its genetic. My mum had. It and passed it down to my sisters and me. I don't actually suffer from it though. They do, the only issue I have is I get ill more quickly then anyone. My body is quite fit and healthy as I haven't been ill and keeping it ill. Would I have to do an appeal. For instance the flu, it takes an ordinary person with flu two weeks to heal it can take me one month to heal but my immune system 2 weeks to heal again.
Ive had 2 episode of being on antidepressants a few years ago, been off them now for a couple of years but ive been told its a huge red flag in the army, is that true?
Got deferred for 3 years from reserve officer training on the basis that I was prescribed steroid cream for eczema a few months ago. Do you think it's worth appealing? It states that you can only appeal in the instance that the reviewing medical officer has come to an incorrect conclusion (he hasn't). Do you think if I appeal anyway they might give me a pass on it?
Hi mate, how did this go? Did you appeal in the end? I was prescribed some steroid cream for a rash on my hand that came up when I had COVID. It went away on its own after about 10 weeks, and this was two years ago now - but it's still on my record, so I'm expecting the worst. I'm currently waiting on my RGMD from my Doc for my application to Sandhurst.
@@joelittle6753 I've yet to appeal but plan to soon. As I understood the Medical Officer's note I was deferred because of the steroid cream AND the fact that I've got a well documented history of eczema. I'd hope that in your case they would understand that you had it on a one off basis and approve you for medical. If they defer you just appeal and get your doc to explain.
@joelittle6753 I've appealed to eczema but was a misdiagnosis as it was dry skin caused by my job which was 3 years ago had no issues since and they still reject me permanently.
I did some research and found out acne used to be a problem , I don’t have it bad but I do have a fair bit of spots on face and back is it still a problem ?
So I applied for the army at the start of year, was on the final stage of medical but I had a message saying they refused me and I can make an appeal. So my ear drum bursted when I was 3 months old and was always prone to ear infection when in water and being a teen always swimming and not caring didn’t help but now I know how to prevent getting ear infections I’m good it’s been 4,5 years since I had one. Doctors even told me when I was younger I would have to wear hearing aids but I didn’t need them and told me listening to loud music wouldn’t help but again I’ve been to festivals etc and I’m fine so should I appeal or just let it go?
I want to appeal it but even if I go to my doctors and say look I haven’t had any ear infections in over 4,5 years and even write it in a letter I don’t think that will be enough. They want new evidence.
hi mate, when I was 17 I had a bit of a breakdown (19 now) and its on my medical records, it got my application rejected at the time. I haven't been diagnosed with depression or been on antidepressants or anything.. had some counselling and truth was I just needed to change my lifestyle a bit I'm all good now super fit mentally and physically it was just a rough few months. but on my records I have one record of self harm and 'an attempted suiciide' but Ive never been suicidal I just think this label was thrown on the incident as some sort of reasoning (I was drunk as hell and had been taking pills). I regret this so much now not a day goes past when I fear ill be rejected again and that'll be final.. but I'm mentally clear but if I explained when I apply and have to appeal my regret behind my juvenile mistake with proof from my gp and old counsellor will I stand a chance ? when I spoke to a recruiter following these events they told me to wait 5 years then apply again but I rlly don't want to go to uni and just want to get on with it.. ive waited two years as it is and another three? I don't wanna waste more time on a potentially impossible dream. anyways thanks mate

Hi just got a quick question, I’m hoping to join the army in few yrs time. I’m a slow learner will this stop the medical process as it comes under a leaning disability?
It shouldn’t do as you will sit a test and that will generally put you into a like job role. Also, the army caters for all sorts of learning difficulties and it won’t stop your progression through the ranks either.
I have a close friend who was wanting to apply to the army but, this was 2 years ago and, hasnt needed medication for more than 8 months and has went away. What's the score with someone like that? I checked the JSP950 and it implies that they are Permanently Medically Unfit my mate has 90% of his medication he collected if that helps his case.

That’s great news and great advice. Good luck buddy
James Townsend. Thats really interesting, I'm currently going through a medical appeal for Colitis. I'm at my 'second stage appeal'. Just interested in how many appeals you went through?
@@jamescaney2968 Hi mate,
I've recently sent off my medical forms off with the understanding I'm going to get declared 'unfit' because I've also been diagnosed with Colitis.
Thanks for the information and advice. Greatly appreciated

I had an operation on my bowel twelve years ago and have had to take a special form of treatment ever since, as well as having a plate in my stomach. I had just graduated university and was seriously considering the military as I had always been a fitness guy and loved structure, team work and achievement. In the end God had other plans.
Sorry to hear that mate. Best of luck for the future 🫡
It's funny I'm in the same situation, (without the plate into my stomach), but applied to join today.
Yeah, perhaps I could have included that.
What about if the murmur ends up being a bicuspid valve
I’m thankful the army do ECG now I didn’t know I had a heart problem and had to wait until it’s fixed… now awaiting a heart operation but haven’t given up yet. passed the fitness with flying colours aswell…. It’s a Long process but it’s worth it 💪🏻
It really can be a long process. It’s a bit of a nightmare hammering the fitness then to to be told you have a heart issue🙈
They have sent my case to the army heat specialist to look through my Ecg report.. what happens next?
I had an scoliosis and a couple old injuries when I was younger got a doctors note before ac and there was no bother at all, off to Catterick in March, get any worries looked at prior you'll be grand ✌
That’s great news. Good luck for March 👍🏻👍🏻
Heart murmur can be a refer that can be found on medical but with investigation is not a problem

Ive had 2 episode of being on antidepressants a few years ago, been off them now for a couple of years but ive been told its a huge red flag in the army, is that true?
It can be but you should still try
Got deferred for 3 years from reserve officer training on the basis that I was prescribed steroid cream for eczema a few months ago. Do you think it's worth appealing? It states that you can only appeal in the instance that the reviewing medical officer has come to an incorrect conclusion (he hasn't). Do you think if I appeal anyway they might give me a pass on it?
It certainly can’t hurt to appeal.
@@liam_o_c_perks Odd. I got a deferral for two years.
I did some research and found out acne used to be a problem , I don’t have it bad but I do have a fair bit of spots on face and back is it still a problem ?
If it’s not too bad you should be on
So I applied for the army at the start of year, was on the final stage of medical but I had a message saying they refused me and I can make an appeal.
It’s entirely up to you and how much you want to join but an appeal couldn’t hurt.
I want to appeal it but even if I go to my doctors and say look I haven’t had any ear infections in over 4,5 years and even write it in a letter I don’t think that will be enough. They want new evidence.
@@jefflol4455 I am not really an expert on this but you could see your doc and see if he has dealt with anything like this before.
Can IBS without drugs four months AGO rule me out . Irritable bowel syndrome .
@@misentewilfred4384 you might be ok with that
Thanks, though I visited the Gp but did not prescribe drugs. But ibs. Will it affect
hi mate, when I was 17 I had a bit of a breakdown (19 now) and its on my medical records, it got my application rejected at the time.
I would go to uni and get a qualification. Wait the 5 years and reapply. You could even join as an officer then
@@MilitaryFitness thanks mate, forgot to reply aha, so reckon I have a worthy chance at all or just being too hopeful?
If I don’t take my adhd medication 💊 and I can prove I don’t, and I haven’t got involved in disfunctional behaviour within a year ? Will I have a chance
You may do, the recruiting office will have a better idea
Had asthma at 12 never had it severe never had any hospital admissions. No problems now perfectly fit can do a lot of exercise easily with no problems. Do you think I’m good?
Yeah, you should be ok with that
@@MilitaryFitnesscheers
I haven’t had a seizure (epilepsy) in 6 years and not been on medication in 5 years yet I got rejected I was wondering if you could help me coz I’ve spoke to many people and they say I should be allowed in
You can file an appeal
I did appeal and they rejected it saying any candidate with epilepsy who have had more than 1 seizure are unfit
Hello I have a previous record of mild shin guard dermatitis that I only used topical steroid cream to treat. It has gone now do you think this would stop me from joining
That would be a tough one to call. I would still apply though and see what they say
Hello just wondering if you could help us out. when i was younger i had a couple seizures i think 4 or 5 but haven't had one in 10 years now and don't take any epileptic medication I'm 17 at this time would i still be able to pass the medical.
That should be ok because of the time that has passed. It may not even be on your med docs since it’s so long ago and it may not even come up in the medical
@@MilitaryFitness thank you for the information
Hi sir. I did a blood test with the army and was found to have sickle cell trait. I was told that as a result, ill be doing graduated training, and not the usual vigorous training. So what will i do at the assessment centre? Will it still be 2 days? If i pass that, will they throw me into the 14 week basic training? For sickle cell trait people, wat happens after they pass the assessment center programme?
I can’t be certain of that. I would imagine you will do less phys until they are certain you are ok.
@@MilitaryFitness Ok. Thank you
Hi mate, I’ve applied for the army and been to my interview, just waiting for my medical check now. The only thing wrong with my medical, was that I had eczema when I was a kid, the last time I was prescribed cream for it was 10 years ago when I was 8. I have had no problem with eczema since that at all; do you think this would restrict me from joining the army?
You should be ok with that
@@MilitaryFitness thank you for the reply mate, I appreciate it. I’ve been worry about it after reading these comments and seeing that you can’t join if you have eczema. Love the videos too.
@@HelloHiHowAreYou18493 thanks, best of luck
What if you were prescribed steroids for asthma multiple times but you never used them and didn't need them
You may be ok with that. I had asthma as a child and got in no problems
@@MilitaryFitness thats good but will they care that my medical history says i needed steroids several times though
@@Abisoak they may not if you are given the all clear by the Dr.
I was failed for eczema when I was 4. I appealed it and they haven’t changed their mind and now I can’t even get through to my recruiter.
Really sorry to hear that mate.
@@MilitaryFitness I was really looking forward to it too. Thank you though mate your videos helped me get my bleep test score to infantry standard. What you’re doing is brilliant 👍
@@Yehnah677 thanks so much for the kind words and hopefully the rules will change for you.
Ah fk sake, I had eczema when I was a kid too and I don’t have it now and haven’t had it for 10 years. I was hoping they would let it slide, but it seems not. Did they let you in, or did you give up?
@@HelloHiHowAreYou18493 I was completely stopped from joining. I got an email after I appealed and they hadn’t changed their mind and then my recruiter just stopped replying. Sucks but there’s nothing else I could do I’ve moved on from it now but I still wish the circumstances were different. As for you mate don’t let this put you off as it may turn out better for you and remember you can always appeal their decision. Good luck with it I hope it works out for you 👍
Hi mate i got deffered due to gout, i went to the gp and they i might be on a life long medication to prevent gout will that stop from coming back?
I can’t be certain about that mate unfortunately.
@@MilitaryFitness thxs alot.
@@Pxrker04 no probs
Before 2 years I did hydrocele survey. am I eligible in medical.? Now I can do everywork without pain. It will be great feeling if you reply.
You will just have to check with recruiters buddy, hopefully you will be ok
I have a close friend who was wanting to apply to the army but, this was 2 years ago and, hasnt needed medication for more than 8 months and has went away. What's the score with someone like that? I checked the JSP950 and it implies that they are Permanently Medically Unfit my mate has 90% of his medication he collected if that helps his case.
Hey there, I would reapply and see what happens. It can’t hurt
@@MilitaryFitness Great news! I put my appeal and threw everything I had to give with a nice cover letter and I'm through to medical assessment! Thank you for giving me that nudge to appeal the PMU. I'm applying for an officer role and aspire to become one of the great leaders in my life. I would love to get to chat with you over a call or zoom about what you believe makes a great leader and what is needed from army leadership.

I had asthma as a child. My asthma went away when i was around 19/20 and im 28 now. Do you think history of asthma would effect their decision even though i haven't had it for 8 or 9 years?
You might be ok with a doctors note
@@MilitaryFitness so you reckon they'll defer me without one?
@@Edstrat they may not but they could also ask for a doctors note
Hi it’d be appreciated if I could get a response I want to join the navy as a engineer is it the same as a year off medication with adhd for both the navy and the army or no thank you
Hi, I would imagine the requirements will broadly similar throughout the services.
Hi if one has a surgical scar of about 7 years is he or she qualified to join the UK army.
That could depend on what the surgery is. A scar wouldn’t stop you joining.
Hi i had an unexplained blood clot 2 years ago (not covid vax as unvaccinated) is that likeky to be an issue
It may the case where you need a letter off your GP
