    This was such a good video, thank you. Im in the process of making my application but im worried that previous mental health might come around to bite me in the ass, at what stage of the application is the medical?

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No problem! And it’s after the interview so stage 3 if you will (well it was for me anyway it could have changed but don’t think so). Previous mental health is a tough one as it’s such a vast area of different issues. I would say go and do the medical because you might see whatever your previous issue as bad where they might not. If it doesn’t work out for you based on those mental problems then at least you can say you did it and tried instead of just quitting where for the rest of your life you’ll be wondering ‘but what if’ if that makes sense. Hope this helps.

      I wouldn’t know as I don’t smoke, I think they may ask health related issues with that but if you don’t have any I think they would pass you, granted, that everything else is alright. Obviously don’t take my word on this.

    Hi mate, I’m looking to rejoin but I had some councilling and medication for 3 months with anxiety, did they make you get any paperwork or anything from your GP for your depression or was it just the stuff he asked you on the day ?

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Crxven oh that’s great to hear! Good to see your better and ready to tackle the challenge of Halton! No so basically they send a request to your doctors to receive the paperwork which took flipping months to go through so get ready for that. As long as it ain’t serious then it should be green like for me it was the ending of a bad relationship which caused me to dip into depression and I felt suicidal at the time which I did but I said I didn’t make any plans to do anything. Hope this helps.

      @@JakeGchannel Hi again mate, thanks for your reply. Did they mention you had to be a certain amount of time out of your mental heath condition and did they mention what was needed from the GP to allow you to be eligible ? And if possible can you remember what sort of timeframe this all took ? Just trying to gauge how long I have to get fitness up before my fitness test

    • @JakeGchannel

      @@Crxven it took from September to January for me personally. For me it was really only a few weeks so it really wasn’t nothing major obviously I don’t know if there is an ‘out of depressed state period’ that needs to be hit and na they just wanted the medical notes that your GP got/made for that specific condition.

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m not 100% sure as im not qualified in that area but from my personal experience, I have fillings in every single one of my tooth I don’t have decay (checked by raf at halton) as I do take good care of them, if you do have decay/decayed I don’t see why the would decline you but again I’m not the health people and I don’t have that qualified position to judge. All I would say is still go do the medical as they might surprise you. Do let us know how it goes.

    Hi Jake, I need some advice. I passed my Interview a few days ago no problem. I had my Medical today with a Capita doctor.
    I have been deffered becuase of a rash on my wrist clearly caused by my rubber garmin fitness watch rubbing against my skin. Its 10000% clear thats what it is, even the arsehole doctor said " oh thats probably becuase of sweat and you mever taking it off" but then told me "Oh that may be eczema" i told him i dont have and never have hd eczema! Its my watch clearly! But he has deferred me on this... ALSO! He has deffered me on my blood preassure being " A little high" and this is becuase... my appointment was booked for 13:30. He sent me a text at 12:45 asking if i can do 13:00! Luckily i was close by and replied " yes i will be there in 5 mins" so i ran as as fast as i couod from my car to the consultation room. I asked him "Can running raise blood preassure? " he said "Yes" and i am very fit! But hes went and deferred me! Absolute arsehole.
    Question is.... hes requested info to my GP about if i uave ever had eczema and also to do a Blood preassure reading. Does this mean he will request my FULL MEDICAL RECORD? Or just a letter from my doc saying " Ian has no history or current eczema... and his blood preassure is fine" or again, will this arsehole be asking for a FULL MEDICAL HISTORY?
    Any info wouod be much apreciated

    • @JakeGchannel
      @JakeGchannel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Damn that sucks to hear that. Obviously I do not work at Capita so I cannot answer what their processes are but I can only speak from my experience. Firstly, Capita are really detailed about everything and take everything into the worst possible category to cover themselves I think. For example, when I turned up I had a fresh scratch from my puppy on my elbow area when we were playing and he dived into that so much I felt it was unnecessary.
      Secondly, in regards to the medical documents, I believe they request only the documents that they have pointed out. For me it was my dislocated shoulder and a depression period in 2021, when I got a copy of my medical notes it only stated those two areas so I would assume he would only request the eczema and possibly something to do with the blood pressure however, I would doubt the latter as blood pressure can be cause by tons of different things. Again, don't take my word as law as it's just my experience.
      Overall, it is annoying but I would just stand fast and let them do their thing. Believe me it was tempting to bug them about 'why' to look for these documents but ultimately it wouldn't help the situation and probably only make it worse. The only bugging I did was to get the medical documents over quicker. Hope this has helped.

      Thanks Jake, this puts my mind at ease a bit better. I really hope they just request those two things. Ive taken my watch off for a fre hours now and its already clearing up! No moans to check my blood preasure but i bet its back to normal. Thanks again man. Hope your good!

      @@SmD-ff5xd Thank you and well even though you may have a past, if you can prove that isn't you no more then surely it'll be fine. Obviously there is a limit but if it's something you've always wanted to do then do it. Because ask yourself not whether you would fail because of your past but whether you would of lost that opportunity because you thought you would fail where you may have passed.
      It's better to give it a shot and fail than speculate in older years whether you would of failed or passed if only you gave it a shot. If you do fail at that stage then at least you tried, you can walk away with your head held high.

      @@adelesmith799 Yeah I also think its to do more with the RAF as a whole as they need to maintain their standard on the world stage so regardless of role their fitness at a minimum needs to be the requirements stated.
      However, for someone who has done fitness their entire life, it's really not that difficult but in this modern age its much easier to sit at home than be active so for some maybe even most its going to be a real challenge which is a good thing.
