The book whose author's name Huemer is forgetting is The Cosmic Landscape, by Leonard Susskind. Susskind is great. And to connect back to the topic of online education, he's got a lot of great lecture series available on TH-cam. :)
1:23:42 Many studies have shown that difference in cognitive ability is more a function of individual variation from pubescence onwards rather than age difference (Adler et al, nineteen-ninety; Adler & Matthews, nineteen-ninety-four; Epstein, two thousand and seven; Hartshorne & Germine, twenty-fifteen; Moshman, twenty-eleven; Waber et al, two thousand and seven; Raven, nineteen-forty-eight; Romer, twenty-seventeen). Same goes for impulsivity i.e. ability to voluntarily inhibit action (Moshman, twenty-eleven; Romer, twenty-seventeen; Shen et al., twenty-twenty). Also, teenagers under 18 do not have poorer risk perception than those over 18 or perceive themselves as “invulnerable” (Offer, nineteen-eighty-seven; Quadrel et al, nineteen-ninety-three). Furthermore, “informed consent” has been operationalized in the context of medical decision making using the legal criterion and individuals from puberty onwards have been found as capable as over 18s (Hein et al, twenty-fifteen; Weithorn & Campbell, nineteen-eighty-two). Raven and Wechsler demonstrated that on average IQ peaks between 13 and 15. If respect for autonomy recognized by law accommodates the full range of mental ability from the most intelligent to the most stupid for over 18s, and there is no categorical difference between those under 18 from puberty onwards as a group and those over that age as a group, then the freedom of the former cannot be categorically denied. A yearly test of mental ability starting at 12 should allow emancipation for those who test within the range for a control (e.g 21-25 yos). This would allow low-end outliers to be kept from being emancipated before they are ready. Forgive the tedious citations, yt interprets it as spam.
So how are people not going to build WMDs under anarcho-capitalism? (in "the case for tyranny") I guess I don't understand how he resolves this "best argument for strong state", maybe in the blog post?

Excellent last question and answer
Anyone know which Caplan lecture Huemer is referring to around 58:00?

This uttered by a self-proclaimed anarchist would only make sense as tongue-in-cheek, but it clearly wasn't said like that.
american economic growth has slowed down because of government
I'm no Holden Caulfield but this is quite phony
Well said.
