She forgot to mention that in 1965, when Pakistan invaded India, India was also suffering through a large famine in part because the Americans stopped any supply of international foodgrains to India. This is when the slogan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan" given by the then Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri became popular. The slogan literally means "Glory to the soldier, glory to the farmer" symbolising the two struggles India was facing during the time.

Her comment about the bloodshed of the cold war makes me think of that "The Fallen" video that at least heavily implies how much better things got after the end of World War II. I wonder whether the numbers used for that video came from and how they reconcile with those that she's dug up. I'd be prepared to see it settle on either side, but it would be worthwhile to investigate.

This is a very fair assessment of the relations between this complex geography. Professor Paine admits our (USA) misunderstood intentions through out this Cold War.
And she’s right about the Cold War was fought out in smaller countries which was so horrific for the civilians who lived there.
Let’s never go through this again.

At 1:49+ is the most brilliant and concise remark by Sarah Paine in the entire video (it was all brilliant), when she essentially states (my paraphrase) that the US cannot change Russia or China and it’s going to be a long wait for Russia & China to change their evil way! In the meantime we need to protect ourselves AND our allies. That’s the realistic bottom line of what US foreign policy should be!
