I pack an extra lunch and carry my 1911 on days that i know a 10mm is required incase i get lost in the jungle or someone sees me find a 10mm, claims its theirs and tries to fight to the death for it haha..good video :)

    On my truck I took the filler plug out of the side of the trans and plumbed in a hose that’s run up under the hood so I could fill it from there, not sure if anyone else has done that or not. Great videos, keep them coming

    I have the Southbend G-56 OKHD single. It's nearly silent in operation. A guy up in Ontario Canada recommended Amsoil 75-90 MTG. It's the slickest stuff I've found. It's much smoother then Delvac 50. I have a pump for the fluid and just elevate the passenger side and pump 7 qts in. That Synchromax and the SBC combo is super impressive! Very quiet. I have not used the Synchromax. Thanks.

    Hey Greg, I made it easy on myself because I didn't want to go through the trouble of removing the shifter so I ordered a PTO cover from a company called TDS off of ebay and this PTO cover has a fill plug that is high enough to get about 7 1/2 quarts in and I installed it on the drivers side to avoid the exhaust and leave the extra ports available for a transmission cooler in the future. You can order the covers with a few different configurations and they all come with plugs and predrilled ports that accommodate for O-rings so you know it won't leak and their price point is relatively inexpensive. I ordered mine with the high fill port, temp probe port, and in and out ports for a transmission cooler. Great video for the guys that don't want to change PTO covers though. Always love watching your videos. They are in depth and very informative and never seemed rushed.

    I have a Southbend twin disc in my 06. It shifts terrible compared to stock but I accepted the trade off since it won't slip with my downloader and pulling, pretty stout. Talked to Southbend and they recommended 50w so I went with delvac 50 as well. They said it spins a lot faster with a twin disc so the 50w will slow it down some. But the noise comes from the separator plate between the discs, semi trucks are noisy for the same reason. Sometimes I even double clutch thinking I'm driving truck again because of the way it feels haha!
    I pulled the right side of my truck up on ramps and used a pump with a container filled with an extra quart. I also used Dorman CV boot part 614-001 to replace my shifter boot it's like 15-16 bucks, got the idea from the Cummins forum. Hope this helps.

    I use Schaeffer sae 50 trans oil with a strainer/ cooler setup and yes you have to put more in than the factory pto cover fill plug. Heavy tow is all the truck does. No problems at all. And your way isn’t the easiest way to fill. I fill mine with the cooler pump ;p

    There is one other way to overfill the transmission without pulling the shifter out and that is get a pump for your bottle of oil with a hose on it remove the top Center PTO cover bolt it's a couple of inches higher than the fill plug and pump it in that way it's much easier.

    Don't the SB Duel Disk clutches shift very hard, especially when cold? What I have seen in many vids is that people have difficulty shifting from 2nd to 3rd for example due to the mass of the duel disks.
    My 2008 Ram 4500 dump needs a new clutch and am not sure to go with SB's top single disk unit or a duel disk unit. My truck is stock here in New Hampshire (any mods or tuning would be an instant fail during inspection), so I will never be adding any extra power to the truck ... unfortunately. So being at stock power, would SB's single clutch work fine for many years to come?

    Now you have to be super careful with that lexan because that crap scratches if you just look at it.

    Hey Greg, I assume this same information can be applied to a 4th gen with a g56 as well?

      James Hoffman yes all 6.7 Cummins are the exact same transmission, 06-07 5.9 Cummins have the same G56 just different gear ratios

    I’m about to change the transfer case and transmission oil in my 05 with a G56. The manual calls for ATF in both?? Is synchromax the best way to go to improve shifting and noise? Also what type of oil for the transfer case is best? Thanks and great videos! 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @davidanderson8469
      @davidanderson8469 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ATF in a G-56 which has been converted to a single mass flywheel will be the closest thing to rocks rattling around down there. ATF in the transfer case is what's spec'd.

    So what about the nv5600?

    • @brandonrecknagel998
      @brandonrecknagel998 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically the same thing, but the shifter knob is one solid piece, just remove the bolts around the bottom and pull it up. I just replaced my clutch in my 03 3500, should have filled the gear oil in from the top!

    I use royal purple products all the time, used rp synchromesh in my nv 5600 it rattles bad now, so going to redline mtl and Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer, it was dead quiet until I added rp in it, so it didn’t work for me

    • @mikethecarpenter6977
      @mikethecarpenter6977 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thegaragefiles Be careful with what you use in the 5600. I have always used the overpriced stuff from the dealer. Pour in an extra quart into the shifter like he did but be careful with what you use. A buddy of mine messed up his sincros while running the redline. Not sure if it was 100% the fluids fault but i am not taking the chances with how scarce the parts are for the 5600.
      The extra fluid seems to quiet down the gear noise and makes it shift a little smoother

      @Thegaragefiles 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike Joyner I’ve got 6 quarts in mine it rattles with the royal purple, that’s why I’m changing to redline mtl gl4 that what redline recommends, not gl5 that’s for diff
