      @@MattDenton well, you might need to be creative 😉
      OK, it's not so easy. You might need a geared motor for 12V or so. A lower voltage is safe and with a high gear ratio it's slow enough for these giant wheels. You might need only a slow walking speed. But it costs quite a bit. OK, I use my imagination and I can see it. You don't need to build it 😀

  • @tet-life
    @tet-life 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really like seeing the early sets reproduced as giant Lego kits, but would you consider trying some of the newer kits that moved away from more traditional Lego parts (like those flat base plates) in favour of stronger beam like parts specifically designed to withstand more weight and to keep the larger models more rigid? There are quite a few smaller Technic kits that came out between 1990-2010 that would be good to experiment with as giant Lego.

    • @MattDenton
      @MattDenton  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah maybe.. just wasn’t my era so don’t have much connection to it. Still want to make a gokart big enough to ride so maybe that’s the solution... or a metal hidden frame 😬

    • @tet-life
      @tet-life 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattDenton Gokarts are definitely a recurring theme in the history of Lego Technic. I think it would be worth exploring some of the newer models for your dream of making one big enough to ride. Most of them have fewer pieces than the models you've built so far.
      I get the connection to the older sets though. My first kit was the original Forklift as well. However I've drifted in and out of tinkering with Lego Technic over the years. I've bought sets just to get the new parts to see what I could do with them. My current collection is kits all from 2001 onward because I moved cities and couldn't bring my original Lego collection from childhood with me :-).

    You giant lego guys ... are awesome! Love the great work you're doing same as agepbiz and that Iron-bat-man robot Brit whose name I just forgot ... but yes, awesome stuff. That said I just checked prices on the MOARstruder just to find out that the printhead needs to be mounted to a printer costing more than all my printers combined =D So for the time being no MOARstruder for me I reckon. Still - such great projects! Also had to subscribe to your Thingiverse page instantly. Thank you very much for sharing. You need many more subscribers! @@MattDentonYou bet I did - so James lives nearby - kinda means you could do a project together when he ever gets into the giant lego mood again. Splendid - no pressure of course - and no hard feelings ... but you know you gotta do it. He recently built rockets together with Ivan, the tank guy. By the way - I am in total and utter awe how great your prints come out. Maybe it's just the size hiding imperfections but to me it seems more likely you did a hell of a job fine-tuning those printers and models. Anyways - love your videos and models and content and nephew and the inspiration. Sadly now I also know I somewhat wasted my life as I could have spent my time printing and assembling giant lego sets. Cheers! JM

      Oh thanks man! Appreciate the feedback. Yeah james and I should do a project at some point! There are many imperfections in the prints, as I tend to print hard and fast! If you want to show off some of these soonish, Mike Grieve is looking for exhibitors for Reading at the end of next month. I'd love to see the Bulldozer in person!

    I'll be taking my own 5x brick-built Space models (they're scaled to those flashlight minifigures): flic.kr/p/Z2egdn and flic.kr/p/232XH4G
    Along with some 12x brick-built Spaceman minifigs (0.5m tall). I've also got a remote-control 5x Fire Chief Buggy rigged with flashing lights: flic.kr/p/Z2ek24
    Biggest one I've done so far is an absolute classic: #6870.
