    I don't know anything about 3D printing so my question may be ignorant, but how did you produce parts that are bigger than the print area of the TAZ6? Do you make them in multiple parts and glue them together or something?

    Hey Matt; one of my friends was inspired by this video to ask me to print him a scaled up version of a lego set from his childhood. I was just wondering what % scaled up things were and if you had to glue any of the pieces together. It looks like you must have for the 1x16 technic brick, but I wanted to be sure since I didn't think the lulzbot taz doesn't have enough print space for it whole.

    • @MattDenton
      @MattDenton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is 5x scale, 500% increase. Yes the 1x16 pieces are joined, check out the forklift build detail video for how I do that. Also 3x scale works pretty well and saves a lot of time and material :)

    • @MDAndrewM
      @MDAndrewM 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matt Denton Thanks for the info. Hadn't quite made it to the forklift videos, so it's good to know that where that is. These are super cool!

    • @MDAndrewM
      @MDAndrewM 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Matt, a quick follow up; perhaps i missed it in the video, but the bricks i print don't snap and stay together quite like normal legos. Do you run into this? The tolerance of the pieces is 0 (though it is not 0 in the print due to reality), so i was wondering if you had to fix that somehow.

    • @MattDenton
      @MattDenton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What scale are you printing at? Most of mine snap together well at 5x scale. It could be down to the printer? Or the scale of different?

    • @MDAndrewM
      @MDAndrewM 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matt Denton I'm printing at 4x scale, but I'm also printing the ideal dimensioned bricks, so I'm not sure if that's the issue either. They all fit together, but they don't stay together very well. There prints don't seen to be going terribly wrong and aren't misshapen (an edge peeling up a bit here and there, but nothing extreme).

    Your Giant Go-Kart build inspired me to make a couple Giant Lego creations of my own (also on Thingiverse), my biggest limitation is the size of my printers.

    • @MattDenton
      @MattDenton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool! Well some of these parts are too big for my printer so I do them in multiple parts. I hear a scale of 3 X is good for smaller beds.
