@@grimdarkdragons8956 I'm going to start them off in a fantasy setting. I am thinking about doing subtle changes to make it more 40kish in time. Simple stuff like making a short bow a las rifle, Power weapons could be vorpal or +1. The Grey Knights would cover the only real question I had from your video. I'm looking forward to the starting stats for the Grey knights, one of the biggest reasons I liked this video was because it felt like a space marine without being absurdly overpowerd. You have a sub sir and I am very much looking forward to your content!

After level 10 i think adding a few bard levels would really resolve yourself as a leader, this gives you it's jack of all trades, and inspiration to uplifting you're allies.
I am so excited to find something like this. I’ve been looking at trying to make a Black Templar themed dnd character and this seems like the perfect starting point to work more towards that goal!

Sweet man! Thanks for checking out the channel! If you’re curious, I can share my Black Templar build with you. Variant Human Path of the Zealot Barbarian. Rage in the name of the Emperor! Black Templars are strong anti-psykers that can negate mortal wounds and the powers of the warp, so I think taking the Resilient feat and getting proficiency in Wisdom saving throws would help that.

Really I'm looking at both vanilla builds such as what you've outlined, but also our dnd group allows homebrew and unearthed arcana elements as we took almost two weeks too come up with a player werewolf mastery transformation as well as it's perks and drawbacks since we don't like just killing off characters if it's avoidable outside of combat encounters and such So I will also be using this as a baseline for a black templar starting at a scout marine in the low levels, to a veteran tactical or vanguard marine depending on path for either a bolter or a power sword and shield. Thanks though you've really helped with foundation work.
If your DM allows it, I would just make a sleight alteration to this build path. Take artificier (talk to DM) from lvl's 1-3 until you get the armorer spec, to emulate the black carapace, and use a gun as well. Then multi-class as a fighter and follow the guide from there. There are some very useful and in theme support spell at the art. disposal: booming blade, resistance (cantrips); longstrider , arcane weapon (lvl1) etc.

Plus, both 40k Marines and Simics are products of science.) though with the goals you had in mind here, I understand why you went human. I didn’t even think of the Simic Hybrids as a choice but that is super interesting. I think both work but Variant Human is awesome because of feats and how much flavor they add to the character builds I make. I think you saw the comment I made with the Black Templar build which will hold you off in the meantime but I’m looking to make another video soon…making videos is one of my many hobbies and I also started a full time job recently so I hope to have another video out in the near future!

@@ULTIMATZEKROM yes, go with the half plate. It’s the best armored build for the Barbarian. I think it’s a worthy sacrifice to make for all of the zealous fury that the Path of the Zealot offer. I think it’s so fitting for the Black Templars.

It's wonderful news for me that you included the traitor legions as they are my favorite thing about WH 40K. Still have one question though, will you included them before or after chaos corruption ?
Crossbow expert or gunner would be good feats for variant human. Both remove disadvantage for firing against enemies within 5 feet. Then archery combat style. Dnd really favors specialization and fewer stats to rely on. Fighter already gets proficiency bonus to str and con saves, so having a decent dex mod helps balance out saving throws. Dex mod isn't as useful in heavy armor but dex saves tend to be commonly used. It also counts for initiative. Artificer or war domain cleric level dips could also help the build shine.
Maybe a simic animal hybrids might make a good race for space marine maybe rune warrior represent implants artificer armorer upgrades might be considered implants 😊
I have seen other videos saying that you can make power armor with the artificer. Possibly have one one that focuses on armor, another one weapons. Like a compact repeating crossbow, or even just a gun? I wonder if you can get hireling artificers to function as tech priests?
After 10 fighter id be tempted for a couple artificer artillerist or armorer levels to buff the armor, sword and later on the hand crossbow/pistol for a "bolter"

That’s an interesting question. The only space marine faction I could see it working for is the Iron Hands. They’re space marines who believe that the “flesh is weak” and try to replace their whole body with bionics. I suppose if you played a Iron Hands inspired space marine character that the Warforged could work. Maybe I’ll make a video for them eventually!
