  • Here we're on location with the first test drive of a NY state bound 461 sporting the reshaped combustion chamber and enhanced flow tricks that I know about ( SS ), in addition to the standard insane-o zipkit. The saw barks and speaks for itself.
    My chain isn't the greatest but the saw is "bad"! And yah, pinched bucking it - still just a man here.......
    I'm currently available for port work. Shoot me an email if you are interested.

    Awesome demonstration of the saws ability, saving for a saw bigger then my 360, found I have to keep the rackers a bit high for the chain to pull speed on the 28in bar in hardwoods (locust, ash and elm mostly)

      I'm just a man....
      If you haven't been pinched much, then by default, you never bucked much - limb loaded wood anyway.
      I cut spruce (full man) for about 2 years, in S.W. Washington and N.W. Oregon. 3 days out that entire time I never was pinched. SPRUCE - it will drive you crazy! Have a picture of my dad's D7 parked underneath one somewhere in the collection. This is where the term "grouse ladder spruce" comes from.
      Thanks for watching.

      7 and 8 footers that the butts are off the ground ( bottom of the bole) 10 and 12 feet sometimes. I had to get up on them and saw off the big limbs (that I could reach), on the low side most of the time, for the first 3/4s of the tree, cripple most of the remaining, and then touch off the last "holder" limb in the top. Sometimes even pushing with the cat was to no avail..... When you did get one to roll over, they would flop on the ground and look like a medusa laying there.
      Yah, the good ole days.....

      Before I had 2 back surgeries I was better than you at this.......Just kidding!!! I wish I could stay down on the saw and trigger anymore. Good video friend. Also, I did never cut anything as big as you are doing. Stihl (pun) have a 210, 011, 026, 460. The 011 is the go to saw or the 210. The 026 Pro is museum perfect. The 460 is too damn heavy. What we call trees around here you would call brush. Peace.

      I remember when we were felling up to 80cm diameter firs, those things had branches up to 8 inches wide, some bigger, you basically had to do an undercut so they would fall without violently breaking and snapping back at you, had my saw pinched almost every single tree.

    Good video. My 460 magnum cuts stuff like that like it were a tooth pick. I use full skip RS full chisel chain. Bigger stuff gets the old 066 magnum. What a beast. With a 32" bar & chain. Now the realy big stuff gets the 880. That saw is pure MONSTER. It's just way HEAVY. I'm 65 & not quits as spray as I once was.

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daryl hi.
      You cannot run a 3/8s rim with .404 chain or vise versa. You will either throw the chain straight away or burr up the drivers so the chain stalls or both. The pitch is to far off for the chain to rotate smoothly.

    What do you mean when you say dark screens?

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A new saw needs to run, initially at least, really fat on the high speed needle adjustment as the internal parts are starting to seat in. Black/dark screens are an indication of this. A saw does not run really good until the needles are properly adjusted. It shows the saw runs really good in spite of not being tuned in anywhere near what it will be later, once broken in.

    Jack! Do you "adjust" every saw according to the elevation? I just bought a nice 288xp with the decomp release, wish I had the extra $$ for one of your "sleeper394's" mods ! I'll shoot you a E-mail.

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roy - this saw was running REALLY rich because of the "brand newness". I did not like the amount of blubbering in the face cut so a minor, quick little adjustment to the high speed needle (still running rich but not as) and she came around a wee bit.

    Hello, a chainsaw doesn't need double-declutching, and I've never seen the felling cut on the first tree in such a way that you hold the saw overhead. It is much better if you hold it the other way around, the handle is specially shaped for this and you can use the claw stop. Work easy, save your Energie!

    Gods Green earth that your Cutting Down and reducing our Oxygen Supply.

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ZZP Zing Pheonix - Pretty common knowledge that the majority of the earth's oxygen supply comes out of the ocean.... And yet, no squawks about all the pollution that goes into - and a lot from 3rd world countries producing products so you can spend less too.
      Now something you don't know - the most vibrant time for a forest, depending upon the location & species, is 30 to 60 years. With all the emotional connections that some seem to develop with older tree that are, in essence, on their way out and inanimate there is nothing left to harvest to produce all the wood based products that you use on a daily basis.
      And then you failed to touch on the Canadian mining companies that buy our land in states like Nevada for $5/6/CHEAP an acre and then level an ENTIRE mountain looking for gold.
      The other side of this is of course, unless you live in a animal skin tepee, grow all your own food, walk to work, and use an outhouse - stocked with leaves, you still just as much part of the problem as everyone else.
      I struggle with self-righteous….
