Thank you for this very helpful video.
I would just like to make two things clear if anyone is using the ESP32 DevkitC 38pin version, the built in LED is on IO 1 and not IO2.
The second thing that needs mentioning, is when you download from the Arduine IDE to the board once it has compiled the program and then starts to download using the com: port, you must push and release the Boot button for 2 seconds, the download will then run correctly.

    • @robojax

on the ESP32 WROOM that has 3.3 and 5V pin for power
    Where is the Vin
Arduino had 3.3 5V and Vin
I have a power source 5V External source that i need to plug in
to the board but not via USB
WHAT PIN DO I CONNECT AN EXTERNAL 5V SOURCE TO FOR POWER

No that's not what i meant
i was very clear on what i meant
      here it is again
      - Arduino has 3.3V and 5V (when connected to USB these pins provide power OUTPUT)
However it also has a Vin (This is an INPUT)
Because the USB Port that supplies the 3.3 and 5V can only supply up to 1A it has limitations when working with LED Strip projects.
if you need more current you connect a separate supply to the Vin (This is an INPUT)
      - My Question again is... on the ESP32
Where is the Power Input ?
We have a 3.3V and we have a 5V (i assume these are Outputs) because you need the USB Input to make the work
      What i meant was
WHERE DO I CONNECT AN EXTERNAL 5V POWER SOURCE TO
WHERE IS THE INPUT THAT I CONNECT AN EXTERNAL 5V SOURCE TO ?
      that's what i meant

Nice and very informative video. I'm about to get one of these for myself but I'm not sure which one would be better to get. I've noticed that the 38pin one has 5V output pin which might be useful but it is missing VIN pin. So how to power it up other than using micro usb port? Am I missing something?( I am new to arduino and all those modules). Any help appreciated.

Thank you. It is hard to always get something that you be happy with fully. I would suggest getting the 38 pin. They are produced many sellers so don't expect that all be the same.

Thank you very much for this tutorial ❤!
I worked through this project and had everything working. But now, when I recompile and upload the code (the exact same code was working before) on any of my ESP32 boards, I get a PSRAM error ("psram: PSRAM ID read error: 0xffffffff" displayed in the Serial Monitor). The the only solution I've found online relates to PlatformIO, not Arduino IDE. May I ask, do you know what might have caused this (especially since it worked before) and how to possibly fix it?

it is true but very hard for many people. Arduino IDE is the most easy to use option. Learning Paython and command line is new language. But here you just copy and paste the code and it works.

I think the statement might be referring to you not being able to use the two CPU cores effectively. Generally, as I understand, in default mode one core is dedicated to WIFI. But you can use other IDEs to distribute threads between the two cores, but not with Arduino IDE.

If you connect sensors to the ESP32, you can inject their data into the page. That way, even if the ESP32 is not a Web Server, it is able to add the values to a webpage, that is actually being provided by a different server. So you can have your own webpage that shows all sorts of data, that your ESP32 and it's sensors collects.

Thanks for the nice video. I got the same 38P version. Firstly it does not have the LED on pin 2, but one can connect an external LED to 2 or even a volt meter, and you will see, that it works.
More importantly, in the production of the version 38P board, they seem to have made a big mistake and have marked the second pin on the left side of the RST button, just next to V5 as "GND". It is actually the "CMD" pin, or GPIO 11. Very confusing!!

"not work" is not enough. provide error or something. It works. there is not issue if you follow instruction.
