I had my first colonoscopy which was already anxiety driving, recently. Then I was diagnosed of having diverticulosis which lead me a very negative mental and emotional space. I'm okay now, thanks to my doctor. But I wouldn't have panicked that much if I knew about diverticulosis in the first place. So thank you for talking about this. I believe it'll help plenty of people.

Thanks, glad it was helpful. Most people with diverticulosis would never know they had it if not for screening colonoscopies as most people won’t have any complication from it.

I found out through my colonoscopy that I have diverticulosis, I’ve had stomach pains for about 5 months now on and off. Everything cleared through the colonoscopy, no colitis of the colon and no diverticulitis. Also an ultra sound of my liver and gallbladder came back fine. All blood tests are good as well. I’ve completely eliminated drinking alcohol and coffee as that irritates my stomach. I have an apt with a gastroenterologist in 4 days. Are there any particular pieces of information I should have before hand to give him/her the most accurate information possible? I am miserable with these flare ups, I really want to get passed this. Thank you Dr for the video.

Hello I also live with this condition, it was recently recommended to me to try castor oil soaked pads on the stomach area where pain is intense.
Place a heat pack on top.
The results are incredible and liquid diet is really important avoid solids!
      Best of luck 👍

My colonoscopy failed to see my diverticulosis. But for 3 weeks after the colonoscopy I was fine. Almost back to normal. No pain. Then the pain gradually came back. I then had a MRI and that picked up that I have mild diverticulosis. I been in pain for 7 months as well. Finally figured out what that pain is. Just now trying to figure out the future and how to deal with it.

So I'm 42 female and 3 weeks out from my first diverticulitus attack. I was diagnosed in the ER...I did the liquid diet for 3 days and have been eating low fiber for the past 2 weeks. I'm feeling much better...some twinges and discomfort now and then..still oddly aware of my colon though! 🤷🏻‍♀️
I understand that I'm to gradually add fiber back in but I'm not sure what gradually means. At what point, time wise should i be eating high fiber again? I have a colonoscopy scheduled 8 weeks from the initial attack. Am I supposed to stay on the low fiber diet until that time?
    Thank you in advance!

I think I address this in the separate video on diverticulitis and colonoscopy prep. You may find those details helpful. Short of it - I would add it in over the next 6 weeks then hold it the week before colonoscopy.

How are you feeling now? I was unaware that I had actual diverticulitis the first time as I was going through COVID. The second time was 2 years later and I know exactly what you mean about being aware of your colon. It’s also a fear response. I was so scared to eat almost anything and the drs weren’t much help afterwards. I hope you never have it again.

I have low stomach and groin pain on the left. I had blood in my stool for a week. My doctor put me on Amoxi/clav and antacids. I had a colonoscopy in May and revealed diverticulosis. I don’t know what to do. Miserable.

Thanks for watching and your question. I’m not sure what you mean by water based diet. It does help to gradually increase fiber and ensure adequate water intake.

I was diagnosed with diverticulosis, and the last Colon Screening showed diffuse diverticulosis in my colon.
*I have been suffering from a lack of iron in the blood for years, and currently I take iron pills every day*
The diabetes doctor says that the low iron in my blood may be due to my diverticulosis?

I have it I am going to be 52 this month. I was diagnosed I am in pain. I've been back-and-forth to the emergency rooms and they're giving me a packet called kristalose I go to a G.I. June 9 of this year
My question is what can you eat to bring down the flareups? I'm tired of going to the emergency room. Can I eat chicken like bake it put it on the stove what I haven't been able to eat in five days I need help.. I try to use and I push but with that packet it helps but it's a lot of pain. What can I eat to make it feel better thank you.

Eat nothing during a flare up. When I get it (and I suspect covid caused it in my case) I water fast and take paracetamol. A hot water bottle helps.
