@@AnthonyCarrick it's been there for as long as I can remember (even though I haven't played for very long lol), it only happens when you resurface after getting super close to drowning, but there's a chance you'll accidentally cancel the sound if you immediately go under the water again
Imagine now if you were playing this on hardcore mode, and you were significantly along in the game before your near brush with death. I have experienced this feeling multiple times. And even lost a playthrough, or two, or twelve, altogether. It is an awful feeling. Victory eventually came, but not without setbacks.
Hardcore mode has never been ruined for me via drowning. This is an absolute skill issue. If you can't learn how to look at the oxygen meter, measure distance and seconds, then that's honestly a skill you need to immediately learn to pick up. What REALLY ruins hardcore runs are those stupid jellyfish things hanging at the entrance to the 300 m degasi habitat. The poison will immediately eat up your HP basically instantly. And the game's hitboxes being a bit wonky, I've had several runs ruined because of them. Also those freaking exploding fish bastards. I guess other than these, maybe an unlucky fireball attack by the sea dragon or one of the ghost leviathan youths bothering your sub and fishing you out of the cyclops only to snap at you are run-killers. Reapers can generally be avoided rather easily, but I guess you can get unlucky sometimes.
@@RedFloyd469 I was killed by those Jellyfish more than anything in the game. I thought “hey, if Markiplier dodged them, so can I!” 50 deaths later. “That’s it, I’m using the tools to remove them.”

@@MrNomad-0912 That's pretty sweet. I commented with my sock originally. You should turn it into a career. I haven't been wet for years and am retired now.
I feel like the game gives you additional time if you're charging vertically at full mach speed, it must understand you're in need of some oxygen, otherwise why would we do that right?
Just gotta watch the meters... I've grown FAR too keenly aware of that number, WHEREVER I am in the world, cause I like to take my seamoths practically EVERYWHERE, and those things CANNOT go down far enough ANYWHERE, in my opinion. 😅
This would not have worked for me, cuz I'm playing on deathrun which introduces the bends, so if anything like that happens to me, I just have time to say bye bye. Also its a hardcore world

Secret no one told you about.
You have 10 seconds of air after your oxygen reaches 0 before you die.

I risked everything twice on my current hardcore run in those. Good thing I had ultra high capacity tank
the pathfinder tool is unuseable but the seaglide map is semi-useable. but i just bring an extra o2 tank for long dives.
