- Since the Subnautica 2 Teaser Trailer just dropped, I did a deep dive on the trailer all the information about the game that is out right now. From Multiplayer to New Leviathans and even Evolving your Genetics, this game seems much more ambitious than Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero.

The AI in Subnautica and Below Zero is booted in an emergency mode. I would image Alterra's regular AI would be more in line with the company's goals
I'm pretty sure Below Zero IA is not on emergency mode, considering that when you enter the planet it says "Welcome to 4546B, enjoy your stay", therefore, I presume the PDA thinks you are just visiting the planet instead of being in an emergency situation.
@@VirusWare-MY13 I think it is, because it functions the exact same as the AI in the original game, Also, in the early access, after the avalanche it did have the "booting into emergency mode"
If I don’t see Atlas or at least Cyclops I will be mad 😡. Atlas actually looks like a perfect fit because of 4 players and 4 escape pods in the concept
And COME ON the cyclops was supposedly DESIGNED to need a crew of people, it would be bad design to not allow us to try that.

The detail of the low oxygen light disappearing when the other chick shows up implies that we might get a tether while around submersibles, which I so hope is true.

The “base building overhaul” section and its wording makes me wonder if they’ll bring the Terraformer back in a new way, and allow you to change how the actual ground looks. It’ll be interesting to see indeed

I have a few things to say, there was originally going to be a sea current and DNA system in the first game so I'm very interested in seeing how they evolved that and I watched some interviews developers had with other creators and I believe they said subnautica 2 takes place in the future and finally if you look in the background when he starts getting pulled in to the water you can see ruins of buildings in the background
Maybe it’s a “new world” simply from the main character’s POV. It could still be 4546B.

Can’t wait! I’ve got a little idea. There should be a thing with migrating fish or something like the sea treaders from the first game. They would follow a pathway through a bunch of the biomes to follow some sort of feeding ground. And of course, let the leviathans eat them whole.

The questions, "What happened here? What happened to you? And more importantly, where are you?"
These may be questions meant to tease the idea of what this world is, and what backstory the characters we play as have.
This is not the same planet as 4546B, and the equipment does not look like that of Alterra.
Which in turn presents the idea that we may not have the same type of vehicles like the seamoth, the prawnsuit, the cyclops, or even the seatruck.
I do not think it has to do with the main character(s) having amnesia. It may just be hinting at that we are going to be following a different group of people's story.
And this might also hint at we either get to see a different encounter with the precursors on this new planet. Or possibly a different species of aliens (aside from the humans, of course).
I really hope they put more thought into the inventory - moving every single piece from vehicle to character to base storage one by one takes away all the fun from gathering - and also to tool variants in the modification station. You make stuff like the scanner, compass, repair tool etc. within the first hour and then never upgrade it, but also never take it out of your inventory because you need it for anything. The result is that items like a flashlight, head lamp or gravity gun either never get made or spend most of your playthrough in a locker because you need the inventory for other things. It would be nice if you could find blueprints for late-game multi-purpose tools, like a scanner with a flashlight, laser-repair tool, flare knife or rebreather with a compass, headlamp and scanner chip. Of course you would get it late-game and they would be expensive, slower or battery-intensive compared to final upgrade of their single-purpose counterparts, but I would so love it if just a few of these ideas made it in. Needing an early game item all the time feels like inventory tax, and the modification station has few recipes anyway. It would also be nice if vehicle storage module was upgadeable rather than stackable, so that you can use other slots for something else.
I sure hope we get something like the Cyclopes again, we can finally have a full crew!
Two things I want... Proximity based in game chat with upgrades for further range as we progress... and some telepathic fish that mimics peoples voices... Like it says "help me", or picks up there voice phases as we go on and lures us away.

I hope they have some good ideas over there. Things like the crashed Aurora ship from the first game WAS SO AWESOME. They need to make something that fills its shoes and then some. Same with leviathans. I want this world to be much bigger, with many more leviathan class creatures (and tbh, more GIANT creatures in general).
I am really intrigued by this antagonist AI, that is such a cool story idea. Hopefully they find a way to make this story feel different and fit within the universe. I am a huge stickler for connecting storylines (to the point where it hurts my enjoyment of the game, EVEN if the gameplay itself is really good).
I like the devs, hoping they can make it live up to, or better than the original!
I really REALLY hope multiplayer is for real this time.
I remember back when they said they wanted to have it in the first game and ended up saying they couldn't do it after all.

Genetic manipulation sounds like a cool addition to the game. I'm already making theories about what kind adaptions you can make. Gills on the neck for underwater breathing, low-light vision for darker depths, collapsable lungs to help with underwater pressure and webbing between your fingers and toes for swim speed, and probably many more.

This should not be a skill tree. Skill trees are organized where the further you get the inherently better things get. I wanna see more lateral upgrades with a non linear progression.
The one thing I don't like so far is the early access. I don't want to play the game until it's a completed experience because that's the most enjoyable way to play a story driven game, but I also don't want the story to be spoiled while I wait for the full release.
I remember Jacksepticeye saying this same thing when he played BZ
playing early access made him (kind of) lose interest and it affected his overall experience with the game
Both underwater currents and genetic self-modification using biological samples were game mechanics planned for Subnautica 1, but they got scrapped during development. I wonder what they make of the building system, though. It was rancid shit in Subnautica and BZ, to the point that I quit multiple playthroughs because base building frustrated me so much, and somehow I doubt they will make it a lot better.
I think what must be kept in mind is the intent behind the demeanor of a protagonist. They knew it would be a hit to the immersion, they must have. They just really wanted to spend the spinnoff's time world building the corp side. It's like if a journal log was playing in your head the whole time. Bellow 0 was basically meant as a super fancy log.
As to the question "Where are you?", my suspicion is that their ship went off course (worm hole? sleeper ship where they wake up at clearly the wrong planet and the navigational memory has been deleted? The AI comments gave me Hal vibes (from 2001: A Space Odyssey)). And they don't have a clue where they are or how to get back. That will be one mystery that will need solving.

The thing that intrigues me is that when describing ruins,they specifically go for the word ancient,which to me suggests that precursor presence on this new planet is a lot older,and the buildings will show that.

i do think the first subnautica beeing singleplayer was necessary for the immersion and stuff.. but i am so hyped to get a multiplayer game :D subnautica is since release on of my all time favourite games ever

Probably a dumb theory, but what if we (the “pioneers”) are the first people to discover 4546B (the term pioneer meaning to be “a person who is among the first to explore or settle a new country or area”). We aren’t the first to *live* on the planet, with other sea creatures and weird alien ruins (almost like the ancient-civilizations ruins seen on our planet irl) seen in the trailer hinting at other intelligent life
Given that this game’s version of the Seamoth seems to be smaller than the one in the original game, my theory is that Subnautica 2 will actually be a prequel to the original game. This whole “altering your genetics” thing would eventually amount to you becoming the first precursors from the original game
Lore wise, over the years, your species would adapt to survive on 4546B, augmenting themselves further until the events of the original game happen
I really hope there is going to be a single player mode for those who's pc's can't handle multiplayer games. I also hope that in the multiplayer mode there will be proximity chat and i'm glad that there won't be huge servers.

I for one prefer that that tweak the resource gathering in the sequel. In the previous game, we had to rely on breaking resource nodes hoping to find what we need for an upgrade or tool. I didn't like that. I do hope we have automation in the sequel, Planet Crafter did so well with that feature.

I really hope they make this game feel natural. The first subnautica felt like the world was actually a coherent world. Bioms have to be fitted into a small map ofcourse, but they made it seem natural. Most things had purpose and it just felt very real and a natural part of that planet. Even the reaper leviathans seemed like they where an actual part of the world, not just there to make the game hard on you. If they are gonna try to make this game even more eppic, which would be natural, I fear they might forget the beuaty of a dynamic wonderful world, and just put insane leviathans in there just for the shock or wau effect. Subnautic bz had a bit of an issue with that. Its still an amazing game, but it just felt artificial and random. Empty even. Leviathans where just there to annoy you.
I hope they make the world as immersive as the first one is what im saying, and dosent let action or wau factors blind them to much.

I haven't seen anyone talk about the "mysterious ruins" that show up in the actual trailer at 0:21. It looks like an old subnautica base on the left and like a church or something on the right?
Actually, that is theoretically to leviathan which got revealed the one in the void or possibly one of them and the one at the start of the trailer which made that character get in the void in the first place
It would be so cool if they added maps. They could make one which expends when you reach that region and unclock the map thrue exploring.

Looks like they're integrating a lot of ideas they had for the original game that were cut during development, the Biosampler and genetic manipulation especially.

My only concern is that the PC version is gonna require some kind of hypothetical, super computer to run it at the lowest settings. Which means I won't be able to play with my wife. Otherwise, I'm really excited for it. Subnautica is easily one of my favorite, modern games. ^_^

They could make the biomes stay in the same place along with the structures but make the contents of the biomes procedurally generated, using pcg biomes.

I'm calling it now, that squid leviathan has something to do with mesmers and has been manipulating the AI like how a mesmer would, just on a bigger scale.
I think the evolving yourself thing sounds pretty goofy. They're gonna have to work some magic with the plot to not make it seem completely unrealistic
"AI insists" is pretty much code for the modern trend where the PC is just a secondary character in their own story. Even though you were a silent protagonist in S1 you were definitely the protagonist, but for example in Satisfactory (although I haven't completed it yet) the main protagonist is clearly ADA or in D4 the main protagonist is that random side NPC whatever her name. It's a stupid and infuriating trend but I don't foresee it dying anytime soon.
We need a creature that is impossible to stop so he can remind us we are the prey in the game not the hunter
