Mercedes did a great job on the ML and it got progressivly better, the 2003 ML55 AMG is quite a stout vehicle and very un assuming. The next generations of the ML w164 and up Mercedes did a dis-service by not being a body on frame design, the W163 will go down in history as the best suv that mercedes ever built or will build, EXCLUDING THE G CLASS, OBVIOUSLEY!!! But thats just an opinion from an ML55 AMG owner but hey! what do I know
Agree, it was hard to find the replacement for my 2001 ML430 full frame design. The GLE, GLS could not replace the solid built design of ML 430 2001 now still runs well at 175,000 miles. Now trying to replace the ML 430 with Sprinter 4x4 will see if it holds up after 100k miles.
W163 doesn't have very exp material s inside but more utilitarian and will go thousands of miles. My ml270 2003 6 speed manual has over 250,000km on it and still going.

Thats why ML 163 is a piece of shit. Poor quality, lack of good 3,2cdi engine, made this ML one of the shitiest Benz of all. Only because it was first off all made for US market.

Great drivetrain and easy to work on . But the rust is a nightmare ! Must have had moonshine in the paint shop.

Have you replaced your fuel filter? I have had several ML320 and 430 and never had an issue with fuel pump
