My aunt had one of these in the 80's in California and when I went to visit from UK, she took us every where in it Nevada, the west coast, lake Tahoe. Yosemite etc. Amazing

A 1991 420SEL (Black on Black), a 1988 500SEC (Blue metallic paint with grey leather seats; the unmolested European version) and a 1983 300SD (Golden silver paint with Black seats). In terms of Luxury, speed, safety, there is no other car to beat a W126.
I can only agree with that. The shapes of the W126 completely turn off any reference to time. Presented 40 years ago, you can not only see it today, but probably in 40 years. There is hardly a vehicle that radiates cool elegance, noblesse, timelessness, safety and the impression of being fully milled as much as the 80s S-Class. No Baroque like the W116 & no stupid decadence like the W140 that never fit into his time. The W126 is just the most perfect ever built S-Class but also one of the coolest vehicles on the planet

A 500 or 560 SEC or SEL is allways ready for endure modern circulations...is my memorie is good last years had whelebase more lenght (all models of sedan mesure 5m25) ...if old w126 SE (no L) look alike W123 of taximen..in long whelebase design is fluid and perfect by great lenght...a true limo with confort for rear passenger...
i use to own w126 1987 300 se with all the accessorys, it was the best car that i have ever owned. then the engine went bad and i didn"t have a place to repair it and i had to sell the car. i still miss that beaty! one day im gonna buy one again and never ever gonna sell it!
I just love the sleek shape of these. My dad had a W108 S class, and a W116. I have a C class W202 and a W203. Must say they dont make them like they used to.
We used 7 cars from w126 . I car 300se and 1 car 560se and 5 cars 560sel all is the best cars in old classk cars . 3 years we used w140 s500 1998 wow it need abock to righte what we feel .. Now we have 1 car 560sel and 2 cars w220 . Thanks german 👍👍👍👍👍
Der 500 SE war mit 8,5 l/100 km (DDR-Transit-Autobahn) unschlagbar im Verbrauch. Die Maschine blieb dabei im Bereich 1000-1100 Umdrehungen (Leerlauf 900).
Amazeballs - in the past 3-4 weeks or so, one of my neighbours bought a W126, and another an R129. They are not in the best shape; parked in the street as daily beaters... so I get to walk past two awesome cars every day now :)
Can we all just look at the crash tests and be amazed by the fact a car of this age is that good in an accident! It took years before lesser cars were made to be good in accidents! If you crashed a metro or something like that then it would fold like a cheap suit.
my friend have an E240 TD model 1979 , mileage on 999999 finished no more space for more numbers and it's still running and performing like a 2 to 3 years old car

i LOVE MY 1986 300SDL! Back when Mercedes really built a car. My W126 has 267000 miles and is still looking and driving excellent!
I daily drive a 1981 300SD, has 278,000 on it and drives great.

5:08, the ribbed rear lights purpose was to remain visible even when dirty. It actually worked :)
