- Making real carbon fiber parts for the Sword of Perseus using the fiberglass molds created previously. Layers of carbon fiber cloth are layered into the molds and coated with epoxy resin then cured in a vacuum bag. The three separate parts must be trimmed and joined to form the completed sword ready for finishing.

#CarbonFiber #CarbonFiberSword #CarbonFiberMold
I just looked up carbon fiber sword, stumbled into this video. Very informative, entertaining to follow, you're a legend!
Awesome! 👍🏼 I really like the look of first version! Pattern switching direction on center!
You got my attention with the sword, now you have my fascination with the gauntlets
This is the most under rated diy channel
That sword is lighter than my phone
You have some really interesting projects on your channel.
New Sub Obtained
Damn, that sword that is lighter than my wallet!
And more durable
And more cooler
not a very high bar to achieve tbh
@@mememanbehindtheshadows546 but... It's not good for cutting :) watch shadiversity's video about carbon fiber swords in case you haven't
Brilliant
Nice work and video
Might be in love lol i can't do the cosmetic stuff
fun fact: carbon fiber across the fibers is way strong than a diamond
You could have also made the hidden parts with glue abrasive so it could create a stronger bond
very cool, thank you for sharing.
Have you ever thought of incorporating tool steel blades into the edges of your sword to produce a high strengths thin blade that can be sharpened and have very good durability
nightmare Shadow 😁
Yup someone watches shad.
I can not say this enough, you are one very Amazing Lady...
I was quite far into the vid before I realized it was shot on an apartment balcony. The quality of both presentation and results completely overshadowed the location. It 'feels' like it's being done in some high-tech bespoke shop.
Wow! This video makes me feel good. Nicely done.
Wow impressive asf
So basically shad wants a functional sharp carbon fiber sword. He will be greatly ashamed and disgraced 🤣
beautiful work. I have never seen this technic. It so satisfying. Great work. I'm about to try wood filler on my props, bondo is to much work.
Nice video! Can't wait to see the finished product.
OMG!! THATS DREAM OF MINE TO MAKE/OWN ONE
That's pretty freaking cool
Imagine how op would a 100 gram sword have been in ancient times. Slicing throats at the speed of light
Why one side of the blade is not as shiny as the other ?
Can it kill?
Very Nice Job!
I like it 🥰🤩✌️✌️
A sword made of anything but steel(something like 1060HC or 5160SS), bronze, or iron will only be good for 'decoration'.
Idk but think they did a pretty good job killing each other on the bronze age but yeah I agree steel is superior. Even a diamond sword (if that's even doable) would have to be made razor sharp on account of it being near impossible to sharpen and idk what the weight and balance would be like.
I don't have any reason or purpose for it, but damn! now I want a carbon fiber sword in my rack.
you should buy some 19 ounce carbon twill and a good quality clear epoxy with uv protectant then layup 4 layers and vacuum bag and oven cure if possible. this was way to thin . sure its light weight but i dont think that will hold up very well. you need an air saw to trim the edges and that dremel is the hardest way to trim carbon that ive ever seen plus the dust from carbon is worse than fiberglass dust so always trim with a razor blade when possible while still in the mold.
I ll keep saying it you are so talented !!!!
wow awesome work!
But can it keeel
Wow thats amazing!!!
Very cool =)
Can it cut?
Netherite sword.
You should do a Klingon Batleth for your next project!
Sweet idea.
What did you use to join the 2 sword peices together? Is that a reinforcement carbon tape? I need to join 2 carbon parts together
More of the same twill and epoxy.
@@LindyDesignLab Is the foam necessary? Or can we just use the carbon twill. Also, do you soak the carbon before you lay it on for the joins ?
@@yamaharaptor1896 yes applied resin before assembly. The foam was an easy way to keep the carbon in place while the halves were put together, no other purpose.
Do you have the links for the fiberglass and carbon fiber materials
Check out Composite Envisions or Easy Composites, depending on your location.
This is deep fried awesome! Will it cut?
they need to bake him before
Hi
How about to make another one but this time (one piece) blade and handel and...
And in the end pug them perfectly together?
Hi Lindy, strength wise how does a carbon fiber play 3d printed sword compare with the carbon fiber moulded version?
Neither would survive a a good wack against a solid object I think, but the carbon fiber one is super light and rigid.
@@LindyDesignLab The moulded (sheet) version?
But will it keeel
And... Just a though, how strong is this sword? Like, can you use it as a proper one? Or make different tools like an axe?
The primary strength of this material is that it is very rigid for its weight. While it can be sharpened, it will not hold an edge well.
@@LindyDesignLab thx
Should have extended the tang in the handle, sealed it off then filled it with resin to secure everything a bit better. Other than that I enjoyed the video.
I hope you didn't breathe in all the carbon fiber dust..
HOW THE F**K AN 8,1 THOUSAND SUBSCRIBER CHANNEL HAVE ONLY 130 VIEWS?
Your voice is beautiful
Do video testing it
Chop watermelons or something
Which kind resin did you use for this?
I believe it was Ez-lam from ACP composites.
@@LindyDesignLab thanks
How can we clear the pva
// Thanks for sharing
PVA rinses off with water.
Lindy Design Lab thanks🙏🏻
what is your release agent ?
Wax plus PVA.
@@LindyDesignLab nice
Great video .. and an awesome channel ...
one doubt i had though... when you are joining the 2 halves of the parts, do you use a normal Clear Epoxy Glue or the same Epoxy resin, used to make the CF parts ?
Used the same laminating resin.
Lindy can you please make a car ?
The camera work is good, the lighting is good, the commentary is decent, the work is not great. The process needs refinement. The printed design you fill with plastic wood could have been suppressed. The split mold could have been done such you didn't have to cut so much excess material away. The pin holes could have addressed and remedied. If you were to have spent just a little more forethought, you could have made an amazing sword. Instead, you made a "just ok" sword, maybe. I applaud your attempt and the courage you need to take on a project like this. Just do it better next time. You know you can.
