Mild spoilers: When they're having dinner for the first time after the tournament, Inko tells Izuku she passed out 7 times, mostly from dehydration (from crying her eyes out)
I believe in the manga, the only reason that happened is because she was having a meltdown due to the abuse, and Todoroki was looking through the doorway with only his 'fire half', and she had an instant panic reaction.
@@Sneakysneaky88 exactly. It's a Pavlovian response. Seeing red hair and blue eyes every time you're abused means that when she was at the end of her rope, and she only saw his left side peeking through the doorway, she freaked out and threw the kettle out of fear.
she was terrified having only been seeing half of shouto's face- she's incredibly mentally scarred, so much so that she injured her own son. she feels terrible about it, she didn't actually want to hurt her son. but after being abused by someone like enji, and then again, only seeing the fire side of shouto's face? she'd freak the fuck out, especially if she's been physically abused by enji. of course, it's not right to injure your child like that, but in this case, she was absolutely horrified and likely fell into an immediate fight or flight instinct. abuse can do terrible things to people, and it can make the victims of that abuse do some terrible things as well without realizing until after they've done it.
Pile? What do y'all like sleep on top of each other? On like the back of a wagon... I'm picturing that now and it's hilarious I know it sounds mean I'm not I'm just playing but I am just picturing that image :)
*This episode really play with your heartstrings, mixed with irony and cool fight. Why?* *+* Upon hearing part of Todoroki's backstory, this fight have more impact. *+* Another show of Bakugo's intelligence, he give a good example of how Quirks can their limits and drawbacks. *+* What I found ironic about this whole fight, that Todoroki tries to never become like this father, but doesn't even realise himself that he is becoming more like Endevour, in terms of personality. *+* Endevour is a terrible father, not only ruinded Todoroki's childhood, but practically ignored his other sons and daughter because they were "imperfect". And to his wife. It's so fucked up. *+* Midoriya's resolve and madness to become a hero. *+* Midoriya calling out Todoroki's attitude, was the necessary wake up call to find the right path to become a hero. *+* As dark it sounds. Maria Paz G. Lesme i agree with everything but the hospital part; Horikoshi already came out and said she was put in a psychiatric ward and that he did not *Physically* abuse his wife (mentally was a whole other story) he took full responsibility for the error in translating the scene for western audiences. Which is sad considering he did that in response to all the death threats he received for the Endeavour redemption arc. Also it should be kinda obvious; no government would go “hmm the doctors say you beat her constantly, yup you can still be a hero” nor would the doctors allow him in her room to place the flower and vas on the window seal.
@@skelitonking117 I see, must have gotten confused because of the dialogue translation as you mentioned. But thanks for clarifying that part. Yes, Endevour never physically hurt her, a exception of the slap during the flashback. Many reactors/fans get the wrong idea the first time is said in the anime adaptation. As for Endevour, the guy must have power and influence to keep his personal life a secret.
The tragedy of Todoroki in the process of denying his father becoming just like him is explored more is Season 3. And it is so damn realistic and ironic. In his hatred he ignored others around him just like Endy did with his abuse Honestly Todoroki’s abuse arc is one of the most realistically written ones in anime.
The writing in this is pretty good. They could have easily done Todaroki's mother as an unsympathetic one dimensional insane character , but they did a good job of showing some nuance.
Rei (Shouto’s mother) is a really tragic character. The poor woman went through so much. She really did try to protect her children. In the sub, during the phone call before she burns Shouto, she doesn’t just tell her mother “I can’t raise him anymore”, like it’s somehow his fault. She adds “I shouldn’t”. She knows she’s losing her mind, and doesn’t want to hurt her children. And it breaks my heart every time. Endeavor tortured her so much she lost her sanity.
Arguably most people’s favourite episode from season 2. Other note' this episode also shows that Bakugo is actually really smart. It’s kind of terrifying. Also by Hospital, Endeavour meant a mental institution.
And this is why, ladies and gentlemen, Deku's nickname in the fandom is "the Madman". He really is crazy, going to such lengths just to help someone out. .....that's why he's going to be the world's greatest hero.
15:58 This is something to keep in mind. MHA does quite well in side-stepping the trope of "Years of trauma undone in minutes" that many anime fall into, as we'll find out over the coming episodes.
The best thing about this fight? Midoriya knew he was gonna lose if Todoroki actually unleashed his full power. He did it anyway. Because Midoriya really is a hero-he’s not in it to win, like Bakugou or Endeavor, he wants to be a hero to help people and save them! This episode really shows how far he’s willing to go!
This is going into spoilers so don't read if you aren't up to date! I adore this about Izuku and his development. He's so willing to go to frankly insane lengths to help/save people, but then it gets repeatedly pointed out how unhealthy and against his long term goals that is. Essentially his character arc is learning self-preservation and how to take care of himself.
His mother didn’t spill the water on him purposefully, she was in the middle of a mental breakdown and was at her limit. Seeing her abusers face when she was talking about how much she hated him set her off and made her go in defense mode, if she was in her right and healthy mind she never would have thought to defend herself against her child. At the moment, all she saw was her abusers face
Honestly Todoroki is a beautiful character. It is not as easy as he is going to use his fire. He has suppressed that power for years. He also cannot just stop hating because he knows he should. Also this fight made me love Midoriya. Yes he wanted to help Todoroki be who he could be. But he also wanted a fair win against someone who gave his all. Fighting a guy who uses half his power and winning just isn’t great. Also Todoroki’s quirk is amazing in that one side counters the drawbacks of others. Bakugou says quirks have physical limits too. But the beauty of Todoroki’s quirk is that he can nullify those limits by using the opposite side. Hence in theory Todoroki can put out power unlimitedly.
Yes indeed Zamber, how ironic is it that Endeavor has the nerve to dare believe himself to be a noble superhero when he behaves like a sadistic super villain? That monster locked his own wife in an insane asylum after being the very one who caused that poor woman’s severe mental illness in the first place after having physically abused her to the point of going insane and then threw her away after she had served her purpose to his sick and twisted ambitions. He used her as much as he could and then simply threw her out after she was completely used up and there was nothing left inside of her. And after she was dead inside, all of this was nothing to him, less than nothing, he simply shrugged it off without any hesitation like the true sociopath that he is.
Zamber, idk if you noticed but after the huge explosion at the end, Deku struck the concrete with his absolute full power but he didn’t break his arm! You can see it unbroken when he’s slunk over at the finale. Deku did it after all!!!
Nah, that was either just a 5% punch or an animation error. Imo, it was an animation error because the walls broke on both sides, and no way 5% could do that.
This was the episode where the creator of the series actually cried because of how good this was and it shows which is why it’s also my favorite episode of the whole series
It's tear jerking. Todoroki is so powerful, and he finally finds out that he can still use his fire and not end up like his dad in the future. It is so moving and one of the best episodes of the season.
"He can't keep doing this!" Oh yes he can, Zamber. Also, you did mention this already, but don't look at the episode titles!! It sort of spoils the plot of it :)
Except that in reality, his assumption is wrong, that's not how it works. With Todoroki's quirk, it's all about body temperature ;). That's why he has to work to control his fire side. If Todoroki doesn't do the same thing with the giant ice wall against Deku, it's because it would be counter-productive, he could break it and take the advantage against an half-frozen Todoroki ;).
My favorite line within the ENG DUB so far is: " You are not a prisoner of you're lineage." Hits me in the chest every time I hear it in a DUB reaction.
YESSssSs!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭 Ah! This Is My Favorite Episode And You Finally Reacted To It! This Fight Inspired Me To Try To Become An Animator When I Grow Up Cause I Love The Visuals! And You Can’t Forget The Character Development!!!!!! This Is My Favorite Fight From The Entire Anime So Far!!!!! But With Season 4 Coming, I Don’t Know How Long That Will Last😂😂! OOF Todoroki VS Deku Gives Me Life! Have A Great Day!!!!
By the way, the name of Todoroki's mom is "Rei". I can't remember if they brought it up in this episode or not, but I figured I'd mention it. The My Hero Academia Wiki says of Rei: "Rei was kind, caring and loving towards [her son] Shoto Todoroki, and in return, he loved her deeply. She would always support Shoto, such as trying to stop her husband's mad training methods, and encouraging her son to become the man he wants to be, indicating her selflessness. However, the constant abuse that she received from her husband caused her to become mentally unstable, to the point that, one day, she snapped upon seeing Shoto's left side, which reminded her of Endeavor (Enji Todoroki). This caused her to throw a kettle of boiling water she had near her over her son's face, burning him. She did not, however, do this out of hatred for Shoto, but rather, due to her mental instability [due to her husband's abuse]."
This whole episode is, as you described, insane. We learned so much about Todoroki, as well as why he is the way he is. But also, this episode fuelled my hatred for Endeavour. Seriously, why isn't he charged with child abuse? Just because he's the number 2 Hero? Well I got some unfortunate news for him; you will always be number two. The cinematics in the choreography for this entire fight was absolutely beautiful. Especially the very end scene involving both Fire and Ice. To be honest, I actually assumed that Todoroki would win this match. My hero Academia isn't exactly the kind of anime that makes the main protagonist the center of attention. And in a way, this anime doesn't exactly have a main protagonist. It merely has protagonists, as in more than one. I appreciate the fact that we get to learn more about other characters aside from the one we started following.
“This is gonna be very tragic.” Oh honey you’ve got a big storm coming. 😂 Super excited to check this reaction out. ----------- (After watching) This episode is one of my favorites out of the entire series. Their fight is amazingly written, animated, etc. They went the whole nine yards with the production. I was blown away (quite like Deku 😅) when I watched this for the first time. On top of just visuals and, the way the fight is paralleled with Todoroki’s story and how Deku helps him come to terms with his power, it’s a great setup for the climax of the episode imo. By the end of the fight, Todoroki had become one of my favorite characters. Episodes like this, are why I love this arc so much. First we see it thorough Uraraka and now Todoroki. We get this expanded knowledge on who they are, what drives them, and their own struggles that they’ve been fighting since before Deku even met them. (Not to mention some great fights.) And the voice acting this episode - I absolutely loved it! The interactions between Deku and Todoroki were great, my favorites being Deku’s, “it’s your quirk, not his,” and Todoroki’s, “I wanna be a Hero too.” Overall, this episode left me speechless. I was crying and smiling because in the end I didn’t care which one walked out the victor (even though my boi Deku would’ve been my choice in a perfect world lol 😂). Both Deku and Todoroki grew significantly as characters through this fight, and they both made me extremely proud of each of them. Deku’s resolve and caring nature have always been traits I’ve admired and seeing just how far he was able to go to help his friend with his internal conflict was greatly inspiring. After all, there’s nothing more noble than self sacrifice. 😉 Can’t wait for you to keep watching. Great reaction, I loved everything you had to say. Now that I’ve got some free time I’ll have to catch up on the couple episodes that I’ve missed, but I had to make sure I watched this when it came out! 😁 Thanks again for the reaction and see you next time! 💜
So first of all, Deku has some really high pain tolerance like really high Also I do like that Deku didn't win. I was expecting him to win because he is the MC. It was nice but it makes sense. He is very smart and been training hard but Shoto has been training longer. Also Deku is very hurt because he can't control his quirk yet. We get to see Deku grew up and be a wonderful hero. Plus this shows how much he is willing to save others over his own wellbeing
IVE BEEN WAITING IM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW I HAVNT EVEN WATCHED IT YET I KNOW THIS’L BE SO GOOODDDD >:00000000000000000000 My prediction is a lot of tears from me and you uwu Edit: Yes join us in the Todoroki circle
Honestly I love how the creator of My hero Academia handled the whole story of Todoroki even up to its current point. It feels genuine to think that he's a 15 year old boy, wanting to lash out as his abuser and father, with his father not really even realizing it and probably writing it off all as him just being a rebellious teen going through a phase. Not to mention the one thing you really don't see in most stories that probably makes it feel the most real of all things, and kind of a bit of a Manga Spoiler: Todoroki's surprisingly wrong about a lot of the things that he assumes. Like half the story he's told is actually completely false, and its pretty obvious that it is from an outsider perspective the moment you look to the evidence. Yet being an abuse victim and most of it happening when he was five; he really wouldn't realize it what so ever, making for a fairly gray feeling story in the end, and handling its natural end in a rather tasteful and respectful way that amounts to telling the audience that there's no wrong way to feel about the whole story. Forgive him, hate him or just feel confused, your right for how you feel.
Mellomori I love how the Todoroki family is being handled currently. But what do you mean by Todoroki is wrong? Everyone in the family agree Endeavor was an obsessed asshole. Todoroki just sees he himself became obsessed and starts understanding that Endeavor isn’t evil, just human. He is one of my all time favorites because the story and his journey feels real
In Todoroki's Mom's defense. She had to put up with all the Endeavour shit; she wasn't in the right state of mind. Obviously she loves Todoroki but her fiasco with Endeavour blinded her and she did it only because she was broken. And I feel like; Endeavour putting her in a hospital is a dick move but at least she gets the therapy and help that she needs.
I love your reaction!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my favorite ep of the whole series so far.......it's such an emotional one!!!!! Off to watch more of your videos, I see you're watching Star too XD XD XD Love that show!!!! PS, I adore your headphones!!!!!!!!!!
am I the only one that thinks that endevour puting his wife into a mental hospital was the only good desicioun he made in the past when it comes to his family? At least she gets the help she needs there....
Ani Flowers ...Well, she wouldn’t have needed it if he wasn’t such a horrible human being. Also, he only sent her there to protect “His Creation”, not because he was worried about anyone actually mental state. So like.... good? Cause she is safe from it... but also, bad cause she does care about her child and is forced to be separated from him 😭 Just overall bad situation still
@@IAmZamber I know. The situation is still terrible. That's why I said that this is literally the only good decision he made, even if it wasn't intentional. (He is still a terrible person, but at least his wife is safe from him for now)
For some reason I only now realise that Endeavour has the same voice actor as Artanis in Starcraft II. Weird thing to notice and a weird time to notice but hey.
Hi Zamber! I doubt you'll read this but you are definitely my favorite reactor I hope you know that. Like literally, you make me smile every time I watch one of your videos. Thank you so so much for that. Anyway, I have a quick question: do you ever plan to react to any live action shows? I love cartoons but I found one that I know you would love, but if you do not plan to do anything other than animation that is completely fine bc I enjoy your videos to begin with
The problem with Deku’s power is that where he still getting used to it he’s either going to break every bone in his body or decapitate someone from using it lol. I don’t think he’ll ever be able to win against one of his friends because he probably kill them lol.
Elsa was a nice mom, she just had a mental breakdown after years of physical, mental and sexual abuse by Endeavor... she became so skittish that when she was talking about running away and Shoto peaked around the corner she assumed it was Endeavor and tried to defend herself by tossing the boiling water that hit Shoto.
That fight ended with the most epic (attempted) high five ever
Omg yes I never realized how true that is
instablaster
of course the Denki PFP would say this
Imagine how Deku's mom must have been reacting to that fight. Poor thing must have been having a heart attack.
dag1984 right?! Up Until this point she had no idea he “Awakened” his quirk either, that’s why after this she calls him a “Late Bloomer”
She probably passed out when he broke the first few fingers.

Man this is best reaction to one of the best fights I guess u could say they were both pretty “lit”
Oh my gosh everyone wish me luck my phone is at 4 and i wanna watch all of this before it dies 🙏
Edit: I was able to get a charger ♥️
Good Luck 🤞🍀🌠🌠
Good luck!!!!! 🤗
Todoroki didn't get the mark from the hot water but from freezer burn when his mom tried to cool it off but panicked
You can say things...
Heated Up?
Jeez *Chill*❄️ with the puns 🤣
Actually it heated up and then rapidly cooled down before it expanded and created an explosion enough to rival OFA! 😁
This made todoroki my favorite character
When Deku said “come at me with everything you got” it activated Zamber’s Fire quirk....lol
THIS EPISODE WAS SOOOOO AMAZING!!!!
Was Boku no hero academia made before Avatar the last airbenders? Todoroki reminds me of Prince Zuko!😂
Aizawa has a new appreciation for Izuku now that his own arms were shattered.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT!!!!
Omg same ❄️❄️
This episode always gives me chills every time I watch it.
I have been waiting for this moment since Season 1 first episode AHHHHH * fangirls even though i'm a guy *
“This is gonna be very tragic.”
Oh honey you’ve got a big storm coming. 😂
Super excited to check this reaction out.
-----------
(After watching)
This episode is one of my favorites out of the entire series.
THE FEELS!
😭👊
So first of all, Deku has some really high pain tolerance like really high
Also I do like that Deku didn't win.
IVE BEEN WAITING IM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW I HAVNT EVEN WATCHED IT YET I KNOW THIS’L BE SO GOOODDDD >:00000000000000000000
My prediction is a lot of tears from me and you uwu
Edit: Yes join us in the Todoroki circle
Waited excitedly to see your reaction to this episode. Not disappointed. Looking forward to the next one Zamber!!
Not to mention the one thing you really don't see in most stories that probably makes it feel the most real of all things, and kind of a bit of a Manga Spoiler:
Todoroki's surprisingly wrong about a lot of the things that he assumes.
This episode gave me mixed feelings in some way but seeing Midoriya helping Todoroki use his left is something that will go down in anime history
What are your feelings? What's the problem with this episode?
LET'S GET READY TO RUUUUUUMMMMBBLLLLEE!!
In Todoroki's Mom's defense. She had to put up with all the Endeavour shit; she wasn't in the right state of mind. Obviously she loves Todoroki but her fiasco with Endeavour blinded her and she did it only because she was broken.
And I feel like; Endeavour putting her in a hospital is a dick move but at least she gets the therapy and help that she needs.
this episodes always gives me the feels
I love your reactions girl!😘
UgHH I love Todoroki so much hh
(also a tododeku shipper hahahh)
Fyco Hm, I love Deku and Ochako.
'Course. Everyone's allowed to ship whatever they want~
Amazing reaction as always UwU and am I first? Maybe idk XD
If the cement walls weren’t put up, both, or just Todoroki would have probably died lmao
Zamber as far as the next episode is concerned I have just one thing the say. "Duck and cover cause stuff is about to go down!"
This is my favorite episode so far in MHA
Love your reaction Zamber!!
10:30 do it. Do it. Diet. Sweet. DOOOIIIIIT!
This is my FAVORITE episode of S2.....Like geez guys Chill
I am amazed you didn't burst into tears even once during this episode. Did you dehydrate yourself?
I was close to crying... I think I was in shock for most of the episode X D
Ah yes the birth of the Madman Deku
I can’t find the actual episode so I have to watch this
Such a great episode! But what was up with the weird cut in the video @ 14:40?? Is that how the episode played for you?
This was so epic!!!
3:02 good thing Zamber didn't see my spoiler from a few episodes ago
Yeah the sports festival finishes in two episodes, with a new arc coming in episode 13
am I the only one that thinks that endevour puting his wife into a mental hospital was the only good desicioun he made in the past when it comes to his family?
At least she gets the help she needs there....
Ani Flowers ...Well, she wouldn’t have needed it if he wasn’t such a horrible human being. Also, he only sent her there to protect “His Creation”, not because he was worried about anyone actually mental state.
So like.... good? Cause she is safe from it... but also, bad cause she does care about her child and is forced to be separated from him 😭
Just overall bad situation still
@@IAmZamber I know. The situation is still terrible. That's why I said that this is literally the only good decision he made, even if it wasn't intentional. (He is still a terrible person, but at least his wife is safe from him for now)
I was waiting for this
Main thing i learned in this episode is that bakugou plays video games 😂😂😂
Before watching I click the like button, like I don't already know this is so gonna be worth it :)
Edit: loved it
For some reason I only now realise that Endeavour has the same voice actor as Artanis in Starcraft II.
Weird thing to notice and a weird time to notice but hey.
I still wonder how no one in the stand was hit with debris
I’m surprised you didn’t react to the exact “It’s your quirk not his” part!
Hi Zamber! I doubt you'll read this but you are definitely my favorite reactor I hope you know that. Like literally, you make me smile every time I watch one of your videos. Thank you so so much for that. Anyway, I have a quick question: do you ever plan to react to any live action shows? I love cartoons but I found one that I know you would love, but if you do not plan to do anything other than animation that is completely fine bc I enjoy your videos to begin with
(sorry if you already said this in another video I honestly can't remember)
I'm not ready
Man....this episode is just on a whole nother level.
I just... really hate Endeavor.
I want to hate him... but hes so cool I can't fully hate him. Especially after season 4.
your actually so cool btw
10:08 and here come the feels.
and @ 12:52 comes the jaw drop :D
Can we get an F for Half and Half Bastard. The OG todoroki insult
