Oct 2024: I just finished watching it again for the umpteenth time and I still love it as much as ever. This show was magic.

It wasn't one thing that made Firefly great, it was everything. The writing, the cast, the music. It was filmed in a way that made it seem real. The cast cared about each other, and it shows. Even the set was great. This wasn't a Star Trek or Star Wars world. There was something real about the ship. Horses? Actually makes sense. If we were going to other planets we need horses!

A novel concept. A sci-fi series that worked and had a dignified end instead of shambling on forever as an eternal dead horse franchise.

Absolute Best show ever!

Firefly was an excellent tv show, and an excellent movie! Still holds up great!

In another universe, we got 6 seasons of this masterpiece, 2 movies and a spin-off/sitcom where Mal and Inara raise a bunch of Buddhist browncoat mini-thems.

To all the other genius scriptwriters out there, don't pitch your show to Fox. They are the anti-Midas. They turn everything they touch to crap

Firefly was one of the greatest ideas for a TV show of all time. So of course it got canceled prematurely and then given up on forever🤬

Sad that it ended, but even more sad is knowing that if Disney did reboot it, they would F@CK it up so unbearably much like they did with Star Wars

I know it wouldn't be the original cast, but i would be very down for a firefly remake. The original would always have a place in my heart, but the full story deserves to be told. The books are incredible! But I just think it aught to hit tv again and I'm surprised Netflix have never tried to pick it up.

I can rewatch a lot of TV shows. Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory, M*A*S*H, etc. But I don't own any of them. With 'Firefly', I have bought several DVD sets (and given more'n a few away) and the streaming copy on Prime, have all episodes and 'Serenity' downloaded on two portable hard drives and my 20-year-old iPod, I've bought several of the books, joined three or four social media groups, own and wear several t-shirts, and have a large, white SERENITY decal on my pickup. I'm an unabashed, 66-year-old 'fanboy'. But I'm not as bad as my brother, who dropped $2000 to preorder the QMx resin 'Serenity' model. But he's single and no kids.

Don’t be sad that it was cancelled, be happy it didn’t die a slow death like so many tv shows who run in perpetuity do.

Folks... Am I the only one thinking that Firefly would be THE perfect vehicle for using Generative AI to create the remaining seasons of episodes? With residuals going to the actors according to the new terms of the SAG-AFTRA contracts, etc?

That stuff about using realistic almost documentary style camera work is something George Lucas used in Star Wars. It helps create the illusion that what you're seeing is actually happening, and not all set up for an audience.

It's 2023, and more than 20 years have slipped by, but the love for this astonishing show only gets stronger. Browncoats!

Man, this show was absolute gold. 2002 was just too early for nuanced, deep, western storytelling like this. This show drops in 2011-2015 and it's still running today.

I'm a solid Browncoat!🤎 Two things I got from this video: 1. At 4:20 Joss talks about the pressure of the constant threat of being cancelled and how it made them focus their storytelling. THAT is what made this show great! No wasted episodes, running down side quests. 2. *CHINESE* - they actually did a good job of stumbling through the foreign words! The TH-cam video *Chinese Reacts to Firefly Characters Speaking Chinese* from "Chinese with Jessie" is adorable! Jessie IS Chinese and watched the clips out of context, apologizing about laughing at the naughty words.🥰 The nod to this on *Castle* was BRILLIANT! Richard talking to those guys in the kitchen, and Becket asked if he studied abroad, and he said, "Nah, TV show I used to love."😍 Not "watch" or "like," but "LOVE." Us, too, Richard Castle, us too.

Luckily I was working at a Video Rental Store when I saw Firefly on the shelf, so I got to see the show in the correct order. I was tired of all these action packed Hollywood explosion Sci Fi TV shows and I saw this and said I'd try it out during my 30 min break. As soon as I so the slow paced world building of the pilot Episode (that FOX didn't like because it wasn't action packed), I stoppe watching it and decided to rent it so I could enjoy it. Firefly is my 2nd favorite Sci Fi world with Babylon 5 being my first best Sci Fi world.

Whoever cancelled this show needs a punch in the face.. won't be me, BUT I wouldn't be disappointed.

My wife and I just saw the movie again-starting the series again now!

I introduced my young son too Angle and then Firefly. I only had my little boy for 11 years before his abusive father and his boring parents took him from me. I made sure he had every season of both. I hope he remembers me. For years he loved those shows😔 And I let him😉Jane just did us in, we loved them all together ❤️ Australia here😔

With the recent success of all the new Star Wars shows(The Mandalorian, Boba Fett, Obi-Wan, Etc.) The studios now know that there is an audience for a series like Firefly. I hope someone sees the potential and brings it back.

Once again it was the stuffed shirts and bean counters that killed creativity. Under marketing was the only problem with this show, it was amazing!

Imagine if this was your house. Like, you lived on this set, and the rooms would randomly shake once every couple weeks or so.
