Ruined King: A League of Legends Review
มุมมอง 1852 ปีที่แล้ว
Ruined King is dope, I hope to hear more people talking about it. th-cam.com/video/4D-Qzi57nL0/w-d-xo.html I used some footage from this video.
Ye Imma stick to Fire Emblem and Triangle Strategy. I would also recommend Unicorn Overlord. Man, I remember seeing this in my steam recommendations but once I learnt it was a gacha I lost interest.
Convallaria is not a tactical combat game, it is a puzzle game, that is why one does not move or choose direction to face, if u choose the wrong units, in the wrong order, enemies will wipe you in just one turn and you won't be able to damage them in any way. But if you happen to place the correct units you will win really fast.
That’s an interesting analysis. I definitely get what you mean by it being a puzzle game. When doing the crossing worlds farming it especially felt that way. Just very formulaic.
1. Gacha is affecting spiral of destiny in quite siginificant way cos you can start with 4 or even 5 fully developed limited chars. Then you can raise the dificulty and do the high end trials i.e.10-15 lv above yours. 2. Selecting a direction after move or attack is a feature. I am against it cos it will further slow the combat. 3. Regarding the money the trader Acambe tells you - 4 weeks in the dialog... you can choose not to give 15k to Iria or help your ally. 4. Spiral of destini mostly will go to the bad ending on the first play. Then it tells you what you did wrong. 5. As you unlock SD passive tree your next play is easier. great system. I have played many strategy games of different variety and I have to say that SoC is one of the best. my critiques are totaly differnt cos I have 250h in the game. 1. PC version dont integrate keys.... 2. pc version needs better graphics. 3. spending stamina consumes too much time. 4. spiral of destiny ends often unexpectedly. 5. you earn too few point for the passive tree after SD. 6. Elysiym feels like made up place disconected from everything. Calamity are like a force of nature, there is no vilian. 7. there is a lot of time sinks in combat. ie.e it can be sped up a bit more.
In what cutscene does four weeks get mentioned? I rewatched the footage and I don’t see where Acambe explicitly says four weeks. His last line is “Give yourself time to think it over”, not “Ill be back in four weeks”. So I watched a video of Bai Gaming doing the same route and in their footage no one shows up asking for the 15,000 gold. They do embezzle some money so unless they edited the footage I’m not sure what I did differently. Also I can’t find any footage of someone telling Dantalion no. I wish this game had save files so bad because it would make trying to confirm stuff much easier (I don’t like the beacons). I personally think the Spirals passive tree system is lame and while I’d like to change my viewpoint on a lot of these things unfortunately I am unable choose my direction. Aside from that and the low stamina consumption I agree with everything else. Appreciate your thoughts.
@@corvieindo Acambe tells you when he meets you in the office. I remember it well cos I was short on money at the time. Still I played 2 times Iria and was 5k above first time and 20k+ second time. SoC is a weird game compared to non gacha similiar games like Shinig force, Xcom etc because they want to prolong your time as much as possible and make you pull/pay. Beacons, slow grinding, leveling, the slow unfold of characters past etc are part of the process. You also kinda have to play with the 3 factions in SD to unfold the whole truth./papal states should be last imo/. Fools journey focuses on characters and events before Waverun incident + Elisium
Well shit I owe you a sincere apology. He says "I'll be back in a months time". Fuck that makes so much more sense. I know four weeks is basically a month but my brain tends to think extremely literal so I didn't even realize that when Acambe says a month he meant four weeks. I still feel like some sort of indicator would have been extremely helpful still but thank you for pointing that out. A blunder on my part for sure. I'm still gonna slightly blame convallaria because it works on a week schedule not months. Man I don't think I can handle playing Convallaria two more times. q.q You're quite the trooper for all your hours spent. Also thank you for remaining civil and not tearing my head off for being wrong about something. Says a lot about your character boss.
@@corvieindo :) I just like the combat, the characters and I havent played similiar game for a long time. Its really a niche game not everyone cup of tea.
Thoughts on Convallaria. Thank you Convallaria, but also FUDGE YOU TOO. For not respecting the player's time, and not cooking the game in the oven for longer. Also, the direction-facing mechanics could have been epic too. For reference, Theadon's 3x1 [Alert] triggers infinite times just as long as mobs walks through them, and he hits 3x1 area range each time. When it triggers, it's [woah] to look at; when it doesnt, he's just pitiful to play at times. Faycal's [Alert] triggers once only, AND the game doesn't explain this properly despite both Faycal and Theadon's [Alert] having similar in-game descriptions.
Faycal’s alert skills are ass for sure lol!
I basically only play PvP and most of these points have been repeated a lot but are there for balance reasons, attacking and then moving would make it so it's really easy to get tarot box which is already a problem as is with new units coming, would only get worse if you could attack first. and choosing where you face would make it so turtling is more OP. pathing, translation and game economy are probably the real problems the game has. also for PvP specifically there's not enough maps, we need leaderboard and units launch too quickly to get enough * s on units that absolutely need it as f2p.
I never interacted with PvP because of how unbalanced this game is. There’s just no way I could personally ever enjoy it. After looking at some pvp gameplay I would say the tarot box is a bad mechanic for sure. The Tarots remind me of the randomly spawning stat cards from Tactics Ogre Reborn and I disliked those as well. I feel like the tarot is unfair because of the extra mobility it gives you. 3 base movement is way too low to not have any sort of movement buff (or getting to act again entirely) be considered extremely high value. It just feels insane to me that you can be standing directly in front of an enemy and not have enough movement to capitalize on a back attack. As for the pathing I did experience bad pathing especially with the burning tiles. Its just what does pathing matter if most of the environmental effects make it so that you have altered movement going through them. A character moving only 2 spaces is ridiculous but I feel like the blame should fall back on the low base movement rather than the pathing even though thats bad too. Considering that you mostly play PvP maybe the problems you see as the biggest ones are more prevalent in PvP because players are more likely to exploit a games flaw than the ai. Also yes the translation definitely has tons of misspellings and errors. There was a part in Spirals where it put Saffiyahs name with Rawiyah portrait and had a character say the wrong lines. The only thing I can’t comment on is the games economy because I never did any pulls or much like that so I’ll trust your judgement on that. I could have talked about all of these things but then the video would have been too long and honestly too negative. I wanted to be fair to Convallaria because I like it and did enjoy some of my time with it but there’s was a shit ton more I could have said. Like the final battle for my route was so disappointing. It was a literal 1v1 slap fight that could have just been a cutscene. Instead they wasted my time making me go through the motions of a battle that is impossible to lose. Anyways im done ranting. Thanks for your well thought out comment I sincerely enjoyed reading and responding to it.
It definitely gets boring speaking from a lvl 60 player here. I grinded day after day after day till I honestly got tired and burnout of boredom. The enjoyment is just not there anymore....maybe if they collab I'll come back to my account idk other than that am glad I left. You should do a review on Ash echoes you'll that shit is literally a walking box of dopamine & confusion.
I just watched five minutes of Ash Echoes gameplay and I legit could not tell what I was even looking at. It made my eyes bleed.
This is actually my favorite mobile game. I mainly play the gacha portion of the game because just bringing 3 of my favorite units is just not enough xD. The real reason is that Spirals of destinys just takes way to long its like replaying Fire Emblem 3 Houses the first time all the weekly stuff is quite fun but in subsequent playthroughs its just to much. Also there is a player level cap of 60 at that point the game because way less time intensive, which was perfect for me because the first 2 Months I wanted to play this game alot. Now I am content playing the events and the occasional Spirald of Destiny. Its really the only game that gave me the fun I had playing fire emblem, ironically more then the fire emblem mobile game
I like the comparison to Three Houses (I'll never forget all of that fishing lmao). If I knew the level cap were 60 I might have tried to tough it out, I had no clue. Sounds like Convallaria hit the sweet spot for you!
Playing 10+ gacha games is not that hard, you just need to relax and take your time and most gacha games only take 1 year to become a veteran. Being veteran makes everything more relaxing.
Got me giggling like a school girl at 5am. You’re quite the jokester lmao!
I agree with the direction facing, it make character with that have alert redundant to use (Teadon) or healer changing direction she's facing when using heal skill even tho I'm targeting the caster itself.
Although I had to skip some parts of this vid, because I don't want to get spoiled, this review just made me buy this game The black/red art-style and character design is my type, and when you said it has good atmosphere and immersive world, that completely sold me
Nice! I’d love to hear your opinions about the game whenever you finish it.
@@corvieindo Played the first 8 hours yesterday and I'm really enjoying the game 👍 So far, the only thing I grew tired of is the unskippable battle animations. I didn't mind the first 4 hours. Other than that, everything is good. Love the story, world-building, characters, and the voice acting (playing with JP dub). Gameplay is fun, but then again I don't play Fire Emblem or any other game of this genre so I have nothing to compare it to, and I think that's a good thing to experience games with very little standards Will probably finish it next weekend if not busy, I don't have much time to play games anymore these days unfortunately
Awesome to hear that you're enjoying it! It's actually really interesting to hear that you've never played a game in this genre. I feel like a fresh pair of eyes are always good for pointing out flaws that someone who's used to the genre otherwise wouldn't see. The unskippable battle animations definitely sticks out like a sore thumb but I can't think of a way of how they could fix it without compromising the follow-up system (maybe have just enemy animations be skippable). That and there being no way to speed up combat means the game is lacking some qol. Regardless I hope you enjoy it enough to give another tactics game a try. Also yeah adulting sucks ass.
It’s a good review and brings up some good points, my biggest gripe being the pathing (which will sometimes move me over burning tiles when there’s a better path). I think the unit facing is weird sometimes, but also a reward or punishment for positioning. The gacha is both amazing and terrible at the same time. I like the higher rates and debut units going into the character pool for lost 50/50s, but it can also be terrible (180 pity if you have trash luck). The pulls are also too expensive to buy imo. Thankfully the game gives enough currency to get a core team together early on, and the whole game can be cleared with any number of wonky comps. That being said, I love sword of convallaria. It reminds me of FF Tactics Advance and the other turn based RPGs I played as a kid on my gameboy. I can easily see how it could burn some players out or feel repetitive over long play sessions - especially at the start. It can be overwhelming with how much there is to do (Fools, SoD, events, clash, tower, farming, gear management, and keeping up with upgrade tiers). I’ve been playing gachas for a long time so I went in with the mindset that this would be a slow burn and side game for me. If I didn’t complete an event it’s no big deal. I just get the important rewards and call it a day. Dailies are quick and easy on days when I can’t play much, and when I have time on the weekends I can push SoD or tower, and do a story chapter here and there. Taking this game slow has alleviated many of the problems other people had with the progression and pacing. I started at launch but rerolled during Saff’s banner because I went too hard on the early banners and invested poorly. On my new account I’ve barely touched SoD and I’m only on chapter 6 of the fools journey (account level 55). So far I’ve never run out of stamina or had to farm upgrade materials. I have enough maxed units to auto all the daily farms. I pulled 210 times in total and got Saff, Auguste, Dantalion, Hasna, Homa, and Caris. I only lost two 50/50s (once to a Saff dupe and once to Xavier). I’ve been mostly f2p (only bought the $29 selector so I could get Inanna). I have 22k currency left and a lot left to farm. After the first two weeks, I didn’t hit upgrade tiers often enough to make it annoying to level up units and clear the new farming stages. It only took about 5 minutes to upgrade my main units to the new max which was only once a week after lvl 35. I would usually do the new tier of farming based on the daily rewards to avoid the repetition. If I had rushed this game I would’ve only been running full speed into roadblocks. Progression would have been a pain early on, and a slog after lvl 40. I can see how this would have sucked for CCs and other players who wanted to main this game. I think the pacing was the biggest flaw for many players. Now that I hit lvl 55 I have access to everything and a stockpile of resources for new units. I can do whatever I want, at whatever pace I want. It’s a quirky, fun and nostalgic game in short bursts. I would recommend new and old players to just take it slow and play other games around it. I prioritize WuWa as my primary game and keep up with Path to Nowhere and GFL2.
Convallaria absolutely does evoke good nostalgia and brings me back to FFTA as well (advance was one of the first strategy games I ever played). I played Convallaria for roughly about 3 months and in between I was playing battle chasers to keep myself sane. I remember experiencing the bad pathing as well (especially with burning tiles). It’s good to hear that the game is gracious with the pulls considering I never tried for myself. I appreciate your insight.
played the game a few days, then i got bored. its just not there... final fantasy , was a MUCH MUCH better game and it came out almost 30 years, ago.. these games are garbage compared to how other genre improved. i still have to see a game that is even close to the level of FFT or Disgaea. As a tactic "new gen" game. They all suck, too much auto, fights arent strategic but just boring. Stories are ok At most. And sadly this game, which i had really high hopes for, followed the same end ,at least to me.
What's crazy is that FFT is not hard either, like I'd grind the class I want and build I want so bad, I can steamroll everything. But man, I never got bored. The fun is always there. Played SOC for a week or two and something is off. How I wish I could play Triangle Strategy or the Tactics Ogre Remake
Tactics ogre One Vision mod might just save your day, if you haven't tried.
@@hlzion the best part about FFT is its replayablity other than the amazing story and cool characters. i literally played that game for good 15 years without ever getting bored
@@ahmadmalik3549 played all the old good one ^^ my complain was about the lack of decent new one. can't care less if its gatcha predatory game, if its made WELL i'll still play it, but they are all garbage.
@WastedTalent83 right? Like I'm so happy when I got Agrias and fully built my sword mage (mage+samurai), like the amount of times I tried to not save the traitor on the first few chapters 😭😭 FFT's amazing man, a remake is much needed bcs the only thing that holds it back is it's poor quality of life due to age
Dang this quality of content is worth +100k subs. I genuinely believe if you stay motivated in this yt thing, you'll get there eventually. I don't even play this game (I just clicked vid cos art style good) but I watched the whole thing fully entertained 👍
Your words are going to get me through my entire day. Thank you so much!!!
The enemy indicator, direction facing and opening abilities are very good points but I think that most of your earlier points are solved my being in late game. Though I think the direction facing is probably for balance. If you want to retreat you make urself vulnerable. People could just keep retreating and then turning to face . Then what’s the point of back attack? For all the random mechanics you really have to experience them once and they are pretty intuitive. You see burning ground and you already kinda know what’s gonna happen. Ice you slide. Otherwise if you get hit by something you now know what it does especially because the visuals are great. Also though it would be good to attack them move I guess it makes your decisions have more meaning/permanence the way it is currently. It also gives units like Homa more value and tactics too. I think they do really need to improve the interface for enemy indicators or at least making opening enemy menus easier. Great review with really good points. I just have to say the game is easier than it seems but mastering is the harder part. Though you have a lot of freedom.
I can tell the best experience one will get with Sword of Convallaria is if they play it multiple times. I’m sure I would enjoy a second play-through more than the first but unfortunately I don’t have unlimited time. Also I just can’t get over the direction facing thing. Yes people could retreat then turn around but I feel like the fact that you can not attack first is already a heavy enough decision to make. With back attacks doing extra damage and the injured/dying mechanic amplifying that it feels like you get spanked so hard for retreating (Kind of like DnD). I’ll admit since the enemy has to experience the same problem it’s not so bad but obviously there’s usually more of them than you. You’re absolutely right about the random mechanics I guess just from my perspective it happened enough times for me to make note of it. Thank you so much for checking out the video and giving me more to think about for this game. I actually loaded it back up because of you and I thought that would never happen lol. I appreciate your thoughts!
Great Video, will make sure to check out more of your content!! I have recently started playing this game and a lot of this info is really useful. As for the squad breakdowns... The only squad I kinda maintained in my 35h of playing has been: -Alain as the Leader and main tank at the beginning, moving into the back row later on. - Travis, I just like this dude and he dodged everything in the front row. - Bruno. Felt bad not putting him together with his friend. Back row after I added the last member - Selvie. Didn't have a better squad for her and she has been putting in the work. - Berengaria. She felt like she was going to be doing well with her brother, so she joined the front row I have managed to get Amalia, finish Elheim and part of Bastorias without much trouble thanks to them. They are pretty much good all around.
cant play it on my phone, no more space XD but the fact that it is free, as in any kind of monetization can be ignored with this quality is something, idk never been done? it's not as greedy or hungry for money imo. but yeah i can imagine it be time consuming
Convallaria really does feel revolutionary in terms of its design and quality for a gacha games. I hope they continue to update it for the fans.
Pretty based bro. Subbed
you got a new sub just from the "cant face direction at the end of turn" i went nuts over this 10/10 review ( love the game but 100% agree with all ur review)
Glad I’m not the only one who felt that way, it’s so frustrating!
Thank you for a fair review. Really hard to disagree with all the points. Many life service games are good, but it's certainly healthier to keep your distance.
I just wish I could pay a price and get a complete game, not a POS cash vampire.
SAME! The fact that you need an internet connection to play spiral of destinies is criminal. I could literally feel my soul draining as I played this game.
Funny how this is one of the few games I've beaten in 2024 together with Unicorn Overlord. I had a good time. Loved the music, dialogues, lore development, and team synergies. Braum and Ahri are a bit OP in their respecive roles of tank and healer in my humble opinion. The comic cinematics are sometimes extremely wacky, as if they're incomplete.
Sounds like you have good taste in video games! I’m gonna have to replay Ruined King once I’m done with Battle Chasers. Do you play league?
@@corvieindo I did play League a lot but I'm currently taking a break from any life service games to have any hope of beating my backlog of the singleplayer games.
Lex is such an Womanizer... ... in his Dreams 😅
I wish the story and difficulty that is tactics ogre could be done inside the art and design of triangle strategy
Your boy is experiencing the Dunning-Kruger effect (look it up.) It's ok. Recognize it and move on.
I set one of my featherswords up with a fun build that abandoned evasion - but gave her the Moonlight Shield, which grants Nocturnal Guard, and the Guardian Gloves, which buff the user after guarding. So no matter day or night, she always gets to guard for free, and then she gets extra attack and crit damage. Maybe not entirely optimal, but it *was* funny 😂
That actually sounds pretty good. Featherswords are surprisingly tanky so I can see that working well.
My work horse squad on TZ difficulty was Alain and Virginia in front, then breaker, sword master, cleric in back. You can basically solo the whole campaign with that squad and breeze thru the final boss fight, but it can’t clear the colosseum or the end game dreadnoughts.
I think people get hung up on the difficulty point a bit too much for their own good. Most of the time I play games for enterainment, to relax and unwind, instead of getting frustrated. If you want to experiment with a higher difficulty setting and see what does and what doesn't work, that's fine, but to designate it as the only way to play a game and have fun is just asinine. I haven't played TO:R because I've heard that it's a downgrade from its original version, but as far as TS is concerned, it's an absolute masterclass in political plot weaving, choice-making and satisfying battles. So much so that it made me want to see "Game of Thrones", which is often compared to. There's hardly a bigger praise, really.
I rea!ly appreciate the tips - I struggle badly the first time I started. I restarted and did better - I was still struggling when I got to Albion. Thanks.
We had almost identical builds for Berengaria. Kingsaxe, Mirage Greatshield, Earrings of Pursuit, something that adds AP. I ran her with Selvie using the staff that gives her a Burn curse, and Magellan usimg the sword that does extra damage to burning targets. Travis was there too for story reasons and to throw out an extra affliction here and there, but honestly his contribution was just a nifty bonus.
Tactics Ogre is the better game for sure, in saying that, to suggest that Triangle Strategy isn't harder is silly. Triangle Strategy is fair in it's difficulty, Tactics Ogre CAN be harder, but it's all artificial, they cap your level and let enemies have both 3 to 15 levels over you because we can't just make a fair game, they also give most bosses 4 skill cards that allow them to nearly one shot your guys, that isn't difficulty, it's just stupid. Triangle Strategy however is a game i didn't like, every character is one note, Class Promotions are useless and don't do anything, and there are no generic characters, and I really hate TBS games without generic characters and class systems, it's why I don't care for Fire Emblem, Triangle Strategy and others. Tactics Ogre Reborn is a great game, but it needs a sequel or something to really expand it out. It also doesn't help that TO:R locks a lot of content beyond the game itself, so by the time you get some great generic classes, or get your favorite strongest Characters, you've not only beaten the game, youve likely beaten the game a couple of times and most of the post post post game, in fact, you don't get one guy until you beat the Super OP optional dungeon, so it's like, you got this powerful Mage and nothing to hit with it.
i think most of his problems could've been resolved, part of the strategy is outside of the game. also talks and sounds like a little beach ngl. negative manliness credit score.
Personally I thought Triangle Strategy lacked charm more than anything - the art didn't grip me, the gameplay and setting were missing... I don't even know what. A special something. I did like that element of the story revolving around salt though! I thought that was a neat, actually reasonable touch that didn't come across like the usual, overblown JRPG nonsense for once. The more I think about it, I believe Squeenix's "2D-HD" artstyle just does not do it for me, is what it is - the filters and overabundance of visual effects just comes across as garish to me. Tactics Ogre meanwhile? Hoo boy. Charm oozes out of every corner of that game. Hell, the art alone would have sold me on this game. Akihiko Yoshida is right up there with Bengus and Kinu Nishimura as videogame illustrators go for me.
Honestly the only issue I had with this game was its... let's be chartitable and call it "ambitious" original price point. I'm willing to dish out _some_ amount of premium money for a prestige franchise every now and then, so long as it's within reason - I can be more or less certain that a Nintendo title is going to play like a Nintendo title, after all... except for Sticker Star, I suppose. But wih a new IP? One that also wasn't advertised very well (I had no idea Masayuki Horikawa was involved back then, for example) and seemingly had little replay value? Fuck no I'm not paying 50 bucks for that. They really shattered any chance at this being a success with that. If the high-profile devs and composers they hired really did necessitate that price point then that's just bad project planning at best. The new price point is much more reasonable though, so that's great! Actually bought it a little while ago because of that.
Anna is my favourite character in Triangle Strategy
Lex is a pretty common unit in online Coliseum. That trio of a Dark Marquess, Feathershield and Lex is so incredibly hard to break through
i like how u explain all about the system no spoiler good job very good too know ... next steam sale i know what to buy !! 👍👍
What is the game hes playing at the beginning of the video?
Redemption Reapers
I don't think TS is critiqued enough in general on its own merit but on how it follow the series that inspired it & don't think that is fair to do. Less customization isn't an actual flaw, but how the game chooses implement trying out different characters & making those characters important.
I feel the same way. It sucks that a lot of people view being derivative as trying be an exact copy. Triangle Strategy does so many things well that it’s sad to see people judge it for what it didn’t do. TS and TO are both strategy games but with wildly different perspectives on the genre. I’m glad they both exist.
Game was so easy that you didnt need good squads even on hard :(
Expect for the valerius fight 😔
Honestly wish the game was hard enough to require really good squads, or if pvp could be done on maps instead of cheesy colosseum comps
Try true zenooran
@@mappyishot8110 I have, and handicapped myself, as soon as you build certain comps you just win lol
One of my best squads were surprisingly Rose knights with Virginia and Scarlett. I used them as a farm squad and everyone had bandit weapon and golden egg equipped. Miriam even had miser ring as well. And even with these handicaps they could one round KO even someone, who was 10 levels above them. Essential equips is purifier for Scarlett, Wyvern reins for Fran and Squire shield for Virginia to protect Fran. With fine tuned tactics they could solo almost any map, giving me massive gold income.
The Rose Knights were definitely made to work well together, and being a three-woman package means they have a ton of flexibility by swapping out who they're assigned to. I had them with Virginia and Leah (who I always paired together for story reasons) and it was one of my strongest three units. If you give Miriam a runic blade, they have THREE excellent anti-armor units and her heals become extremely potent. Leah handles any evasion tanks, and Fran is the party's "ranged" attacker in the rare event you can't just steamroll the front line. Kitra is deliberately given low initiative and sweeps up any stragglers with Assaulting Blow (I gave her the Dancer's Anklet and got her up to 4 AP as well, so she threw out crazy attacks)
I found that each zone required different squads, which kept the gameplay interesting
Squad with meteor slash, 1 witch or shaman, shield guy and some flier for quick skirmish. The princes for the longer run...
Squad sharing, alright. Not my best squad, but what I've found to be surprisingly effective is all archer squads 2 angel, 2 elf, 1 Sniper. Snipers with mystic conferral and the the assist earrings hit really hard. It uses no uniques and beats most enemy squads while giving you a strong ranged assist. What I also like to do is have 3 Werebears that get overhealed by Featerstaffs so I can bonk enemies for 200+ damage at the end of combat. Is it good? Nope, but it sure is hilarious. For my best squad that would be Alain and his elf harem Rosalinde, Etolinde, Galadmir and Railanor. Just good ol' quick impetus elemental roar combo. Cast fairy wind boosted by mystic conferral and sorecerous connection from Railanor into elemental roar with quick impetus. Etolinde is there to cast fairy heal twice so the squad's health is always topped off. For Galerius and Baltro during the final mission, I swap out Etolinde for Berengaria and give Galadmir a Armor Shatter bow, but then it is a one round kill for both fights on true zenoiran.
I had Bertrand set up with something like 240 native HP... absolutely hilarious to see him belly flop people to death. Gave him the shield that lets him Lifeshare too, though I never quite nailed down the optimal tactics to abuse that.
My only complaints with Unicorn Overlord is the inability to save parties, and only being able to make 10. They let us save tactics setups, but not roster set ups? wtf Vanillaware? It very much discourages playing around with your setups, as you'll have to manually remember and set up any template you had to get rid of. The suggestion I usually see for the number of units issue is to only let us deploy 10, but make as many as we want. Any other fault with the game I can accept, but not those 2, to me they are horrible oversights.
I agree I moved my parties around a lot and would forget the setups I had from time to time. Thankfully in my case I'm recording most of my gameplay so I can look back but that's not everyone. I also dislike how limiting the tactics can feel at times. It would be nice if there were tactics to target specific weapons or target a unit that's charging an attack. Maybe in the future an update with more features will come (I know its wishful thinking).
Triangle strategy was so underwelming. it poses as an RPG, but it is not. The story was meh, there where no customization, every class, every skill and weapon is pre made. That means that you can not change anything into the character, justo evolve their weapons and skills through currency and exp. The RPG elements only exist to make the game look longer and more complex while make you grind, but you cant do anything. The choices in the story are a joke, you can just talk to the characters and convince them to vote as you want, so even if it has different paths, you have plenty of space for error and control. That game is an endless running of grind.
What’s your favorite strategy rpg? I swear reading your comment is like looking into an alternate reality where I have every opposite perspective on the game, It’s fascinating.
What I love about UO is unlike modern fe the freedom to customize your army feels authentic where as engage and 3 houses feels artificial. Yeah engage has done alot to help innovate the gameplay but it's not as fun to play around with different builds. Yeah the meta in UO is still cavalry for dps but the gap isn't so wide you feel like you're being punished for using infantry and hell the game even encourages you to mix your teams up and not rely on the meta.
ogre battle 64 is great. i prefer it to unicorn overlord, though i did enjoy that one too. still, my favorite tactics game is FFT for the ps1.
"Which of the two is objectively better" JFC media literacy is dead LOL
Can you explain? :)
As an Ogre Battle fan yes this is precisely what we do.
I don't particularly think Lex is a great unit, but the great thing about Unicorn Overlord is that every single unit is viable. There are no bad units, and every unit can be a powerhouse if you set up the right build.
