Thank you for being so honest. Are you trying to do this on your own or are you in a group like alcoholics anonymous? If you’re not in Alcoholics Anonymous you only have about a 3% chance of staying sober. I would recommend that you get a meeting a day For 90 days and find yourself a sponsor with at least 20 years sobriety. Find some old timer that you like how he carries himself and see if you can get him to help you. The way you’re trying to do it is not being sober it’s just being without alcohol. There’s an entirely other way to do it that’s a lot less painful. Trust me if you have any questions please ask I’ve been around and sober for a very long time. My name is Ray by the way send me a message anytime

Sleeping is good rest and repair listen to your body it takes time to recover you’re on the right path, liquor stores are desperate that is why they have to come up with silly slogans.. think about it how would you like to own a store pushing prettily packaged poison…be patient it’s a process and everyone is going to experience it differently… worry about the diet later give yourself some grace, in time you wont be thinking as much about it don’t feel guilty, feel proud! Alcohol is the depressant, you can’t regulate your emotions and moods while on alcohol. I drank for 40+ years daily, I don’t miss it now but I had a lot of relapses as part of my learning curve. It’s getting fewer each time I recommit. Keep on it gets so much easier. Read the alcohol experiment by Annie Grace. Alcohol is an addictive substance just like nicotine it doesn’t mean something is wrong with you! Anybody can get into a bad habit. After about 4 years I still read quit literature. My diet not the best but one thing at a time. I’m happy my liver is healthy again!

Yea i think its important to remind people that its not going to fix everything like some magic cure. Honestly life is the same for me minus waking up hating myself. If you have this huge expectations about how much better things will be after you stop you will be disappointed.

In the 33 years I’ve worked at being clean and sober, I relapsed 5 times. One key ingredient in every relapse, was my inability to accept life on life’s terms and a lack of gratitude. Just celebrated 8 years, and there is nothing that I can’t get through clean and sober. I lost my 21 year old son to addiction 3 years ago, I made it through it , and continue too. There is massive support, for people just like us , stay grateful ,hang in there O.D.A.T.

Right there with you - I went cold turkey about 2 months before you did, which is why I figure I got this video recommended. My hard truth is that although the effects of not drinking are very positive in terms of productivity and I suppose just not degenerating into a drunken embarrassment, the desire to drink is still there every day and hasn’t faded at all. Keeping myself on the hook with someone helps. Even if we are not happy, know that you are kicking its ass and winning.

Hang in there! I almost drank myself to death more than once. I was the problem. I needed to change to maintain sobriety. 5 years next month! You need a lot of carbs right now, my friend. That along with protein and a multi vitamin. keep yourself occupied with something you love. Change your people, places and things! I build and fix guitars and that helped me so much. I found Buddhism and started chanting "Nam myoho renge kyo" and that really helped! It helps every day. You will get to a point when you wonder why you didn't stop drinking and start loving yourself much sooner and even the thought of a drink makes your stomach turn. I'm with you, my friend! If meetings help, please find one. I chose NA because they are more open and receptive there. You got this dude! You are a talented, awesome man and worth the work! I'll chant for you!

I don't know how I found your channel, but I needed this. I've been cutting back on alcohol and yesterday I relapsed with a 6 pack that was high gravity. It f'cked me up and I went to bed early. This morning with regret I found a note from my young daughter she wrote saying it was a bad day and she couldn't have her friends over because Dad was drunk, she was afraid I would pass out and I fell on her. Literally found this on the coffee table. Saving it so it's the reminder I need to stay the course. You got this ... we all got this. Alcohol is a Thief

Hey man...good for you! I quit drinking cold turkey almost 10 months ago and have not looked back. The fake NA beers help a lot with the transition (Coors Edge is good, Heiniken NA too). I found I have not missed the alcohol...what I miss is drinking socially around my friends...but they are all supportive and they get what I am doing. Hang in there 👍

Get some dumb bells and a bench, watch some weight training YT vids and instead of sleeping quite so long, use them. It will help to manage time and make you feel alive again. Simultaneously choose a very low carb/carnivore & plenty of dairy diet. You'll be a new man and the depression will lift quickly fella. Make the above happen.
