I quite liked the finale. I enjoyed the fact that they brought back a Classic villain that we hadn't seen in a while (after it constantly being the Daleks and Master). And having Gabriel Woolf back for the voice was equally as nice. Huge credit, as the man was 91 when he recorded his lines.

Just to let anyone here know; just because a finale doesn’t live up to ones expectations, doesn’t mean the show is dead. No. After all, I can name numerous finales that have been way worse than Empire of Death.

HOLY SHIT HES TALKING ABOUT THE WORD LORD!!!!! Oh I love this series of big finish in fact I think it’s one of the best in all doctor who though I don’t see a death in the family as the finally I think that goes to gods and monster which is realllyy good. On a side not chimp u don’t know about the forge? Get on it! My new mission for u is to listen to the project ark, project twilight, project Lazarus, project destiny get on it! Those are 3 amazing stories and they are really important for a death in the family u will learn why some people say “for king and country” all the time in this one

Great video! I'm so glad to see you picked up on my recommendation, and touched on all the key points I think. What a villain, one of Big Finish's absolute best. Recently, they announced the classic doctors boxsets for 2025, and teased some of their upcoming stories, and from what they said about 7's boxsets, it seems like Nobody No-one might be coming back and they might be finally picking up on the thread of Nobody's claims that he and the older Doctor battled across the universe. Very exciting. Also I understood and appreciated that Portal reference, very apt lol. As for more metaphysical god-like villains, here's a few more Big Finish ones I can think of at the moment: * Jack Frost from The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Into The Stars * The Lost from The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Dalek Universe 2 * The Dark Citizens from The Dark Universe and The Last Day (this one is very very very lore heavy, not recommended for anyone other than the deepest of Big Finish fanatics who know almost all the lore) * Bilis Manger, obviously originating in Torchwood TV, but Big Finish have done a lot with him and added to his lore without losing his mystery * Death from Master * The monsters from Here There Be Monsters * The Toymaker, Big Finish have done great stuff with the Toymaker too, especially Solitaire and his battle with the 7th Doctor in The Magic Mousetrap, 7 has a whole arc similar to the one on TV where he battles with a pantheon of gods, A Death In The Family is actually in the middle of this arc * The i Predator from Iterations Of I * The Ship from Warlock's Cross * The Darkness from Made You Look * Hecuba from The Queen Of Time * Edward Grove from The Chimes Of Midnight * The Miniaturist from The First Doctor Adventures: The Outlaws * The Time Spiders from The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles: Geronimo! * God from Torchwood God Among Us Some of these have more legs than others, but if you were to ever make a list video of interesting god like / metaphysical villains, these are some of the ones I know of. Again, thank you for making this video, it was absolutely brilliant!

I had a number of nice encounters with Wayne Pygram when I worked at Amoeba records in Hollywood in the early 2000s. And they all came about because I had been watching a bonus feature DVD interview with him where he wasn’t wearing the makeup. The very next day I came across him in the store. Me-“Are you Wayne Pygram ? What are you doing on this side of the world”. He said “the same as everybody else. Just looking for work”. It was then that I noticed his shopping basket was filled with what we call ‘Stoner Rock’. Bands like Kyuss and Monster Magnet. I thought that was awesome. Scorpius was into loud heavy rock bands. Later he told me he was going to Oahu to film a small part. Months later I saw him on LOST. So that was the part he was talking about. When he got back he was telling me that Oahu was so beautiful that he was thinking of moving there. Scorpius is one of my favorite characters ever, so to have actually gotten to make small talk with him on numerous occasions still blows my mind.

I think the Isos thing may make the most sense if we assume its not a human colony which the wording even implies. One character says "your earth" which makes me think they are from Mondas. Maybe they are one of the many colony groups that left before it got too bad. We know that this would allow for a repeated evolution as I think the Mondasians are pretty prone to creating Cybermen when in despiration. So its likely a colony ship that was successful. I think this makes the most sense. We have 4 groups of Mondasians we see, the group that left early on & became the blackhole trapped ones in the 12th doctor story, another early group must've set up a few colonies on sednoid objects around the solar system & one successful one was on this Isos-2 but it went dark. 3 the ones that became Cybermen proper & remained on Mondas until its eventual destruction & 4 the ones that left earlier & became Cyber faction & later likely broke off into the Telos ones & the Cybernomads after the Human Cyber wars.

In Tomb of the Cybermen and Attack of The Cybermen it’s literally established that the Cybermen of Telos originated from Mondas. They invaded the planet of Telos, making it their second home planet and converting the native Crynons, including those in hybernation. The Cybermen even stole the Crynons Cryogenic stasis technology to preserve the few surviving Cybermen that were left. New who contradicts this of course. Then we have other planets such as Planet 14, Earth, etc etc xx

One of the details that was changed was the part where Hartnell's granddaughter (the one that he had in real life, not Susan) is seen interacting with him in a Dalek dress up suit, while the cast were clearly filming 'The Reign of Terror' which was an episode made in 1964. I'm not 100 sure as to when the 1960s Dalek suit came out, but from what I know it came in time for Christmas, the aforementioned episode was made and shown prior to that event. Also he is seen with the very first World Distributors Doctor Who Annual (which isn't too bad, one can read it as a PDF file on 'The Web Planet' DVD I did once own an actual vintage copy, but sadly it got lost in a move many years ago😢) which was released in 1965. Lastly in part where we see Verity Lambert's leaving party, Hartnell is present. While this just may have happened, given that he was the lead actor it is obvious that he would have been invited, it is clear that the production team were filming 'Mission to the Unknown' an episode that didn't feature the Doctor, the TARDIS or indeed any of the other regular items seen on the show at the time. Thus Hartnell wouldn't have been in full costume, and nor would the TARDIS set have been left standing when not in use. You see, unlike in the production of the series today, floorspace in the studio was at an absolute premium, a point that had been made in the film, thus only the sets that were needed on that exact day of recording would have been set up. As the episode does not depict the TARDIS in any way shape or form, it would have been left in storage until it was needed. This is the reason why in a lot of Hartnell and Troughton stories from the TARDIS console room seems to somehow have the ability to rearrange itself, mainly it just got smaller and smaller plus the console itself would have it's control panels consistently change about at ramdom. The simple reason why this happened is because the scene shifters would simply snap everything together in some sort of very vague order, as they didn't have the time to measure the dimensions (of which there are 5, not 3...) merely in order for the set to be consistent from episode to episode. Lastly in a deleted scene we see an actor dressed on the set of 'Mission to the Unknown' (an episode made and shown in 1965) as a Monoid, which is from 'The Ark' (an episode made and shown in 1966, plus it was one that had been commissioned by Lambert's successor, John Wiles, some time after she had cut all ties to Our Program) and if my memory serves me correctly I think that there was also a few of the aliens from 'The Web Planet' as well, the costumes, would have most likely tossed away to that great junkyard in the sky right after production ended on that story, thus they wouldn't have been kept just to sit around taking up space for no reason. Oh and just one more thing, I might be wrong in my saying this, but I think that it would have been highly unlikely that Waris Hussain would have continued to mix with William Hartnell and the gang as he only worked on two stories (namely 'An Unearthly Child' and 'Marco Polo' well, most of Polo anyways) nor do I think that he would been all that involved in casting the regulars as his work would have been on those two stories only. Thus the only actors that he would have had a say in casting would have been the ones playing, school kids, cavemen, a policeman and yellow face performers, this film gives the impression, to those who don't know any better, that he would have directed multiple adventures with the original cast. However, in spite of all that 'An Adventure in Space and Time' is a very good movie, its production values are top notch, it clearly recreates the whole world of 1960s Britain to a tee, which is one of the main reasons why I love to watch it over and over again, which is to simply to look at everything in the background. David Bradley plays the part of William Hartnell fantastically, in fact I was happy when he was cast as the First Doctor in 'Twice Upon a Time', even if Moffat goofed by making him sexist, something which we don't really see him doing in the actual 1960s stories themselves, even the prop that they used to represent the prop that was used for the original TARDIS console (I was tickled to that it was in its historically accurate green, I've even seen it in the flesh..) which I'll add is my personal favourite TARDIS console, along with the set that went with it. I also liked the fact that they even recreated a number of the First Doctor's speeches on the bonus features on the DVD with David playing the role of the First Doctor, something that I'll often watch over and over, as it happens that they are among some of my personal favourites of the Doctor's speeches in the entire series (I've always liked the way Hartnell performed his farewell speech to Susan, as he played up the fact that it must have really torn out both of the Doctor's hearts to let go of his grandchild, Bradley did it almost as good as Hartnell, only his was a little more wistful and hopeful whereas the 1964 version it is played as a man in a whole world of heartache) but that's just. I'll even say that out of all of the things that were made for the 50th anniversary 'An Adventure in Space and Time' was by far the best thing to come out for 'Doctor Who' in 2013 and whenever I watch it I often end up with the urge to watch a Hartnell. Happy Times and Places

American bias was going against the show if I'm being honest. If they hadn't cast an American speaking with an American accent as the lead protagonist, it would've had an even more limited audience in the US than it did. It's the same reason, I, as an American, after an earnest attempt never really got into Doctor Who or Harry Potter; those characters are just not relatable to me. Yet somehow the blend of American and Ozzy actors on this show worked, at least for me it did. Also, Jim Henson Company did a masterful job with the animatronics. So many levels above Chuck E. Cheese puppets. It just occurred to me that this show reminds me of the American 90s animatronic sitcom Dinosaurs.

1, It's a human colony. We know humans aren't just Earthlings as we see them on other words throughout Doctor Who history. 2, The Cybermen of The Invasion originated on Planet 14, be it parallel evolution or colonisation by Mondas citizens etc, but before launching their invasion of Earth they went to Isos on a recruitment drive. If you listen to Hour of the Cybermen I'm pretty sure at one point it is mentioned that the Cybermen attack another planet to convert its population to swell their army before starting their main invasion of Earth.

There is a very s8mple solution to this. That the cybermen, be8ng basically human, are just as capable of lying about their origins as anyone else. In fact, it would simply be good survival strategy to lie about this, the most obvious lie being that they are an inevitable and necessary part of human evolution. Its highly likely that most of our current knowledge of the cybermen and their origins is simply cyberman propaganda with the average cyberman programmed and limited to obscure even their own personal origins from themselves, as in the Solus II story

I HATE the paradox of the cybermen and their chest respirator units. Someone needs to reconcile that. How can you choke a cybermen to death by clogging the chest unit with gold if they don't even need air to breathe and can walk around in space or on the moon? Ben even killed a bunch by spritzing the chest units with cleaning fluids. Do they need to breathe or NOT???
