    I think the Isos thing may make the most sense if we assume its not a human colony which the wording even implies. One character says "your earth" which makes me think they are from Mondas. Maybe they are one of the many colony groups that left before it got too bad. We know that this would allow for a repeated evolution as I think the Mondasians are pretty prone to creating Cybermen when in despiration. So its likely a colony ship that was successful. I think this makes the most sense. We have 4 groups of Mondasians we see, the group that left early on & became the blackhole trapped ones in the 12th doctor story, another early group must've set up a few colonies on sednoid objects around the solar system & one successful one was on this Isos-2 but it went dark. 3 the ones that became Cybermen proper & remained on Mondas until its eventual destruction & 4 the ones that left earlier & became Cyber faction & later likely broke off into the Telos ones & the Cybernomads after the Human Cyber wars.

    1, It's a human colony. We know humans aren't just Earthlings as we see them on other words throughout Doctor Who history.
    2, The Cybermen of The Invasion originated on Planet 14, be it parallel evolution or colonisation by Mondas citizens etc, but before launching their invasion of Earth they went to Isos on a recruitment drive. If you listen to Hour of the Cybermen I'm pretty sure at one point it is mentioned that the Cybermen attack another planet to convert its population to swell their army before starting their main invasion of Earth.

    Idea: So, Isos-2 is a Human Colony in 1970-something...
    Logically, it is a colony from the distant future (Maybe as far as 2020!) that was somehow cast backwards in time. We are not told of this, because the Cybermen where a more pressing concern.

    We got there in the end lol. Added it to the Chosen Chimp Cybermen playlist. :p
    Speaking of 'Killing Ground', I managed to find a copy this year and I got to say, I loved the gross description of conversion told in first hand.

    Great vid Chimp. Really loved all of these Cyber Sagas. What a complete headache this continuity is. The illusive Planet 14. The isos network does a good job of trying to explain it but yes the human colony thing buggers it up. Maybe the Cyber fleet fell through a Dalek time corridor…ta da!! I don’t know 🤯

    I know that I am being pedantic but seeing as Pluto is no longer a planet that makes Mondas the 9th

      @seancdaug 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well, sure, but Pluto wasn't demoted until 20 years after Mondas blew up, so it doesn't matter. I mean, technically we number the planets based on their distance from the sun, so Mondas was kind of moving target anyway, though it both began and ended as either #3 or #4, given its position as Earth's twin.

      The daleks are effectively iron lung cybermen, instead of replacement parts it's an all in one life support
      Radiation and war really effed up the conversion process

      Planet 10 is Mondas.

    • @seancdaug
      @seancdaug 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Banks' Cybermen book goes into this, actually, and even provides a map. I don't remember all of them, but I know Mondas was one, as was Pluto's moon Ceres (the two were reclassified as a double planet), and I seem to recall it argued that there was originally a rocky planet between Mars and Jupiter that blew up and created the asteroid belt.

  • @seancdaug
    @seancdaug 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Is there any reason the Cybermen couldn't have made their way to earth via multiple steps? Presumably Isos 2 is an extrasolar planet, so maybe they started on there, then hopped over to Planet 14 in our solar system as staging ground for their intended invasion of Earth, and the Doctor and Jamie encounter them there during some undisclosed adventure at some point. The Cyber-Planner only mentions their most recent encounter to Vaughn in The Invasion, because why bother providing a complete history?
    Unless I'm missing something, the only thing left is how there can be a human colony on Isos 2 before The Invasion in the 1970s, but I think it's likely that we're not meant to think it *is* a human colony. It's likely just humanoids, which is by no means unusual for a franchise in which something like 75% of the universe is populated by Northern European-looking white people. 😉

    ....Sorry, who cares now with what they've done with the series?.....there's no consistency, no contiunuity in any form of wanting to stick with or hold to, the original stories. A such, the current "Dr Who" isn't worth the title or even any form of recognition to the origianl series....Dr Who is DEAD
