For my 65th birthday I decided to buy my first ATV. I realized that most of the videos for ATV riders were for stuff and stunts I would not be trying. Hell no, I'm not riding chest deep in mud, but I am looking to enjoy myself without having to use Medicare to do it. So enjoy my Old Guy Rides channel and see how to have fun on rides (ATVs, motorcycles, corvette, maybe even a lawn tractor?) without breaking anything!
In this channel we will also do practical guides on riding an ATV (old age appropriate :-) ) and some customization and service. We will look at trail rides, and how to enjoy without having to put your life in danger.

The Flood Ride
Heavy rains flooded our pasture. Perfect time for an Old Guy Ride. But since you can't see where the pasture ends and the pond begins, the key is not to get in over your head. This ATV is not a Highlifter edition.

Polaris winch pulls stuck RAM 3500

My Polaris XP 1000 Touring uses the winch to pull a stuck RAM 3500 our of the mud. This is the second time that 4 wheel drive truck has gotten stuck delivering horse hay to my pasture, where I had to use the Polaris winch to pull it out.

We unload our new Polaris Sportsman Touring 1000 XP from the trailer after the trip from the dealer. First time ever I have sat on an ATV that was running! Now my first ever ride is backward riding the Sportsman off the trailer. Then my ride is the long journey up and down my driveway. I'm trying hard to avoid a serious fail for my first ride ever on an ATV.

I see the links to Amazon have been taken down after I ordered them. I ordered the exact same rack that you installed but I received a totally different unit. I sent that one back and they again sent me the same one as a replacement. After some back and forth with the provider they told me to keep the incorrect rack at no cost to me, and that they were going to Amazon to update the aforementioned rack. The provider also mentioned to me that the rack in question had been discontinued. The idea you had is a sound one, so I looked until I found another rack that was close and made it work based on your instructions. This was on an 850 2021. Thank you.

Guess what i just got the same thing day before yesterday in pearl white its a 2023 so basically the same thing. It too is my 1st 4 wheeler!!! Amazing fun!! Mine has the same set up as yours except diffrent rims and a bull guard! Such fun i have been missing out!!!
Nice job but harbor freight for 60 bucks sells a rack that goes into your hitch receptacle so you can not only carry say a cooler and some chairs for you and your rider it takes even less time to put on and take off with only a single hitch pin to put on and take off.but hey whatever works for ya!!

Watched your video, ordered the inflatable guy from your source, received it two days later. Was super excited to find something that keeps ducks out of our pool. Unfortunately, this tactic didn't work for us. Bummed. Maybe it's because the blower is constantly going and there's no option for intervals on this model. I appreciate your video anyway
I use a cheap timer inside the house where I plug it in to have it go on and off every 15 minutes. There is no timer on the unit itself.

I’m trying to fine my blade connection on my Highlifter 850 people say it’s under the radiator but I couldn’t find it
If you check the three minute mark on this video you sill see that the connectors are not where the instructions say they are. I assume the 850 should be similar to the 1000.
Hey friend love the channel! Your the only guy on TH-cam that has in-depth riding and use of the atv. Me and my lady are looking to buy this same bike and we are intending on using it for trails and small amounts of mud if we came across them on trial riding. Would you recommend this bike for use of that?
Yes, I like the size and strength. Also, since adding the rack I can use it as a work unit and quickly change back to two-up seating for passenger.
Yes, the OG is doing right by those of us who have the "touring" Sportsmans (2019 850) and are seeking more ideas for the broad range of uses these machines are capable of. I too have considered uploading some content but time for me is often an issue. I've also basically converted my machine to 1up utility using one of the old box inserts I found on ebay. The longer wheel base attracted me - I'm 6'3" so that matters to me. Just appreciate the content and look forward to more. If anyone is considering a Sportsman purchase - don't play around - get the touring model. Dated design maybe, but it's proven and reliable.

What did you use for the spacers? Do you have an amazon link for the spacers?
I actually had those lying around, but PVC pipe cut to size would work just fine. Mine are about one inch tall. Without the spacers the lock and rides would pull out of the ATV holes when you tighten the lock handles.

I was thinking the same thing. I know we're all new at some point, and I'm thankful I was new when I was young and not his age. We may take it for granted that we started riding 4, hell even 3 wheelers, young. I remember when I had my Recon 250 trading rides with my buddy's XR100 dirtbike and we probably weren't even 12 back then. My cousin would show off on a BIG RED 3 wheeler when I was barely old enough to swim. Now I've got my own big boy 4 wheeler and I'm still jealous of these modern liter quads. It's ridiculous how far we've come.
Any drone?
Although I can hear the exhaust from the cabin (especially if I get on it) there is no annoying drone while driving. I've taken long trips and I forget the exhaust is even modified.
@@nykbob you guys with these Borla exhaust videos are really making it hard on me!😂 I want to get something with a nice low time while cruising but talks when you get on it. I've used Gibson catback exhaust on my F159's and they were excellent.
I personally think the Atak with black tips is the way. S type after the truck is nice and warm is little to no change unless your over 4500 rpms. Atak has an awesome Sound at idle and all the way through the rpms.
