A little confused as to why you color correct one image and save it then open the original pure red file in affinity?

Hi Thank you for your nice tutorials. I live in France north of Lyon I own a Skywatcher EQ6R mount and my project in the very near future is to switch to an AM5N mount. Today everything is controlled via NINA I have also installed Green Swamp Server (specific to Skywatcher and Orion mounts), the full ASCOM suite and several drivers on my pc. Everything runs smoothly... Here is my question : with the new ZWO AMN5N which kind of drivers/software do I have to install as Green Swamp Server will no longer be useful. Also confirm NINA on a pc will control adequately a ZWO AM5. I don't want to use a tablet and continue with my pc. Which drivers/softwares, shall I install ? Your help is very appreciated Jean Pierre Dorte

Hi Chad! Awesome video. A tip that I’ve come across with the magenta ish color cast is to run the correct magenta stars script. It really helps me when I run into thag type of trouble! Like I said I love the content!

If you want to stay even easier with linear fit, dont split your channels and just do Scripts->Toolbox->AutoLinearFit. It does all that splitting and recombining for you!

The devil is in the details - the longer the vid the more likely you are going to hit a bit that has snag me up...

I’d really like to see some very focused deep dive into a specific tool going for a particular result. This is not to say a long video by any means. For example, your demo of luminance extraction and applying blur on RGB with convolution on lum was golden. Cheers! Doug

First, skip the super basics (frame selection, Blink, WBPP). Just start with your master light(s). Do a quick process that is "good enough" for most and then show or redo what you might do differently to take it to the next level. Almost anyone can do the basic 15 min process, but what are the decision points and techniques for that next step? Masking parts of the image for more processing? HDRMT/MLT/LHE?

A mix and compare quick and easy versus long and more involved and then a critical evaluation of the results would be great. What more do you get with how much more effort and would it be a reasonable thing to do for each person’s time and talent.

Not exactly what you were asking. But I tend to image whenever I can. And it usually under less then favorable conditions. I would like some tricks or techniques dealing with issues. Like poor transparency images, Low integration, wrong filter choice. Moon gradients, Poor tracking(wind,seeing). Amateurs like myself would like to try to salvage what we get. :)

A mix of both would cover more bases from beginners to advanced.

I would like or know if you feel that completing processing in Affinity photo leads to better results than completing in Pixinsight. I have been playing with Affinity but I do not find it intuitive and it seems to me that I can get similar results in Pixinsight. A side by side comparison of each method on the same data would be interesting. Thanks and keep it simple……

There isn’t an am5 in stock for sale anywhere now. Not the original. Not the new model. Very frustrating they would cut off all supplies of this unit after announcing the new model without having any stock ready to go.

Nothing happens on my version. What, how toggle on/off? I don't see a progress bar? I know it's not feasible to pause for viewers to actually see where you're pointing, but everyone goes WAY too fast to catch what's being done. Help!

Greetings Chad. Thanks for the great video. I live in Zambia in the southern hemisphere. I have always pined after the Dark Shark Nebula and have always wanted to image it. Unfortunately, it never rises above the horizon in Lusaka, Zambia - so I was stumped 😠! Lo and behold, you came along and provided free data!! I downloaded the data and had a go at processing it. I used the usual Xterminator family of scripts, as well as the Seti Astro scripts. I am very pleased with the resulting image and have posted it on my Astrobin page (you are, of-course duly acknowledged for the source of the data!). Please advise if there is a southern hemisphere target that you cannot image in the north, that you’d like me to image and I will gladly do so, and donate the data for you to share on your platform. I hope you’ll take the trouble to have a look at my Astrobin image of the Shark Nebula and give me your thoughts. Good idea! I'm a retired trucker. I remember seeing a car parked on side of NYS Thruway (I90E) about mm300 between Rochester and Syracuse. The family was sitting on the grass and apparently having a picknick?! But they had just passed mm310 and the Port Byron Service Plaza! When I see vehicles on the side of roads I immediate think and want to tell them....NOT A PARKING LOT!!!

Strangely, DSS button does nothing on my PC when DSS red is selected. I have to select HIPS for anything to happen.

Super cool, thanks! Had no idea Stellarium did this. Mine doesn't show up as black/white, it shows up as color (I double-checked and yes it's the DSS Red channel) but it's all good.

Are you really running Ver 1.0? = ) I checked on Ver 24.1 and I don't see the DSS surveys listed anymore. Do you know if there's a download that I need?

I just put GSS on my mini PC for the first time. What a dream! Suddenly, almost everything I was struggling with in EQMOD vanished. No more fighting to get the mount to sync. No more the mount refusing to accept its location or date. It just does what it's supposed to do. But I can't figure out how to setup slew limits, and I can't find any documentation on it. Do you have any idea?

I use a Mele 3Q for NINA and have Stellarium but it runs sloooow. I’ll try it on my MacBook Pro. Thanks.

Kool tip dude. I was just poking around in Stellarium looking for a new target and was bummed (as usual) by the many missing details. Like the Blue but maybe Color more. Thanks for your hard work and keep it up!

My workflow is slightly different, you can run BlurX a 2nd time (or on a copy of your image), at all default values, to sharpen your non-stellar detail while still in linear state, and then remove the stars. You gain a lot of detail doing this step. Very nice image by the way, love broadband dark nebula targets.
