Rocktober: "Flood" by They Might Be Giants, covered by Lambda Miners
A cover for Rocktober, which is a related challenge to February Album Writing Month, where we all have fun covering things. I thought it'd be fun to have a go at Flood, by They Might Be Giants. All of it, in order. To my surprise, I did all of it.
Most of these (with the exception of track 5, 'Dead') are done on ukulele. Please don't expect polish. Rather, imagine that it's a couple of people in the corner of a pub who've brought a ukulele or two, a keyboard, a melodica (oh so much melodica) and a glockenspiel, and have maybe had one pint too many.
Since I've done it, I thought I might as well share it :).
Track listing:
0:00 Theme From Flood
0:31 Birdhouse In Your Soul
3:37 Lucky Ball And Chain
6:09 Istanbul (Not Constantinople)
8:33 Dead

For Seasons of the Ukulele 663: The Sugar Rush (See forum.ukuleleunderground.com/threads/sotu-663-the-sugar-rush.166624/) A Dan Bern song about the metaphorical kind of Sweetness. I overdubbed a few things that make it sound even more not at all like Dan Bern's version than it already didn't. I hope he'll forgive me.

For Seasons of the Ukulele 661: National Yorkshire Pudding Day (See forum.ukuleleunderground.com/threads/sotu-661-national-yorkshire-pudding-day.166389/) Not from Yorkshire, but they are from the North East, and I'm not going to miss an opportunity to have a crack at a Lindisfarne song. What a brilliant lyric, I find Chris Difford’s lyrics can vary from simply very good to bloody brilliant, and I put this one in that category. Funny though, I always heard the lyric “ with where have you beens, and far away frowns…” as “ with where have you beens, and Father Browns…” with Difford referencing the fictional ecclesiastical TV sleuth. I always thought it fitted as a Chris Difford lyric so I never questioned it. Anyway, thank you for joining in Edwin, I’ll take as much Squeeze as I can this week 👍

Actually another thing I like about this one is the video where Jools Holland spends the whole thing pushing his piano to the set just in time to play his one part right at the end of the song.
