Central Jersey Conrail in N Scale

เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 5 ม.ค. 2015
This channel is a video blog of the construction of my Model railroad.
The End.
It is harder to write this then it was to actually make the video. But this is it, this is the end. Over the last couple weeks it’s been very hard for me to get the energy to go down into the train room and do work. All along I knew why, but just didn’t want to admit it. But over the last couple days I realized that making videos was getting in my way of me having fun with my model railroad. So I have decided that in order to enjoy model railroading I’m going to stop making video content.
I thank you all for the years of support. So many of you have helped me become a better model railroader. I thank each and everyone of you who followed along on this journey. I wish you all the best.

Nice job !! my wife will surely kill me if i use her blender that way 😁😁😁
Excellent Joe , many thanks
Joe, I hope that you and your family are well and that everything is going good for you. I will say that I miss your videos and RR ops. I wouldn't mind seeing a once a year update on the RR and just to see how you are doing. Happy 2025, stay warm and healthy.
Also the link you have to Shapeways - we are carrying madaboutcars now on our website and will be adding more as time permits.
@@showcaseminiatures3437 yes I am patiently waiting for them to become available
@@centraljerseyconrailinnsca5676 We have many in stock now
Nicely done video and very helpful! Thanks for doing this. We will have to add a link to it on our website.
@@showcaseminiatures3437 thank you! You might wanna check out my Facebook page as well. I haven’t been making any new videos lately, but I have been posting a bunch of new vehicles that I did from you guys. Thank you so much for watching and recommending me.
amazing now i know the formula wow wow wow what color is the silver marker n where can i purchase it i saw thats is a sharpie as well as the base coat paint where can i purchase that as well im in total aww seeing this
Shapeways is out of business, unfortunately
@@ronscannell6942 yes but he is starting to release his vehicles on showcase miniatures.
Thanks for the video. Btw how do you spell mintracks? I can't find a website. Thanks
On your form D it should be addressed to C&E Extra then engine #. Also why did you not do an additional line 2 instead of getting a second form d?
Nice technique to adding extra weight to those centerbeams and keeping the load stable. My approach to drilling the holes is a bit different: I use a center punch to locate the holes (a template works well for this), then drill the holes with an appropriate sized forstner bit --- much cleaner with sharper edges. Just be careful with the drill speed. Thanks for the upload!
Where do you get your paint and what type is it?
[well, can always correct the problem and do the plan over]
☹️🥺💔
I wish that these creators who install DCC in locomotives would say if the decoder has sound or not. I, and I am sure that many other hobbyists, would like to know before having to look at a video just to see if sound is included. It would also be great if they specify the decoder they are going to install. Sound is a very important part of the experience. So much so, I would rather choose another locomotive just to have sound. I understand that the ad. exposure is important, but...
I'm about to install the same decoder in my atlas GP15-1. Do you know if the DN163A4 supports advanced consisting? It seems to be implied by using it with the MP switcher, but I thought that I'd ask to make sure.
So I checked out micro mart, is the clear you use for windows the uv resin?
I hope you're enjoying your retirement from TH-cam. Hopefully, you will do another update in 2024 or 2025. It really is a wonderful layout.
I'm new to N scale so didn't know about Micromark Kristal Klear. Now I know... THXX!!
Outstanding, Sir! Your work is amazing and inspiring! You've given me the nerve to try your techniques. Thank you so much!
Very helpful on several levels. Thank you!
i meant the testors enamels with mineral spirits
to thin testors paints use mineral spirits.
They look great what about graffiti on them ?
Time to enjoy the fruits of your labor - go have fun (which is what it’s all about). Maybe we’ll see you post again about some significant milestones. Until then, ciao’ and many fun hours of operations to you and friends!
Great job walking the classification process…
Home sweet home
Testors paint is nice. Good coverage. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for all of the information and enjoyment, Joe. Maybe you can just post a continuous run segment every now and then and then like I do to maintain your presence in the community. Best wishes, Joe!
Sorry to see you go, but iam glad your enjoying the trains. Will you still put up FB pics?
Thanks so much for the content you have shared with all of us. Hope you have fun running those trains.
Crazy to think that 9 years ago I was just a 12 year old stumbling upon this cool guy who was planning out an ambitious railroad. I would’ve never built my first table at 17 if it wasn’t for your inspiration. Thank you Joe!
Over the years I have really enjoyed your content. I wish you the very best. As always thanks for sharing. Dave
Thank You Joe. It’s been a joy to follow you on your model railroad journey. I still dream of getting even close to the level of modeling you have accomplished. May GOD BLESS YOU and your family on all future adventures. I really hope you will post the occasional post to share future progress and maybe the occasional glimpse into your operating sessions. Thanks again Joe you are an amazing Modeler.
That sounds like a great day! I noticed the FD shirt. Are you with a department?
I totally support you. Family is everything. Enjoy your kids growing up Joe! I imagine having a channel and needing to make content constantly is very stressful and time consuming. I'm grateful for you sharing your knowledge. All the best to you and your family.
I usually make my own weathering chalks. I use the kitchen grater I got at a dollar store. I grind up some white chalk and mix some food coloring in a communion cup (great little cups for mixing paints). I then add my chalk and stir it up with a tooth pick. I then pour it onto my cutting mat and wait for it to dry. Then I use a single edged razor blade to cut it up as if you were cutting out a line of cocaine. :-) Then I put it back into the communion cup for storage until I need it. For trucks, wheels, freight car bodies and locos to add rust I use REAL rust. I take a roll of fine steel wool and put it into a quart jar and fill it up with white vinegar and set it on a window sill so the sun can shine on it. After a month or two, I pour the liquid out into a stainless photo tray from my darkroom (10X14). After it is completely dry I use a single edged razor blade scraper and scrape the rust out of the tray. It usually comes out as a fine powder. I then store it in a snuff container. Depending on how long you leave the steel wool in the vinegar my batches come out with different colors of rust, i.e., some are orange and others are a deeper colored red. When I get ready to use it I put several scoops of my rust into a plastic communion cup (neat little cups for mixing paints) and add some alcohol, Elmer's white glue and a dab of water soluble glycerin. Then I just brush it on. If I want an area where the rust has eaten through the metal (plastic) I use my X-acto knife and make some gouges in the sides of a car and fill it up with my rust. To seal the rust I usually topcoat it with a flat acrylic clear coat. It looks very realistic 'cause it is REAL rust! Happy Railroading! W Rusty Lane in eastern Tennessee
Having just retired I recently restarted my devotion to the hobby and am in the planning stages. I just discovered your channel and want to thank you for all of your contributions on TH-cam. It is appreciated. And congratulations on looking out for number 1.
We all completely understand we are gonna miss you! 😭😭😭
I always looked forward to your videos. I been watching your videos for a few years.

Many thanks for all your work putting the channel content together. Very genuine and thoughtful. No need to apologise - you did great. All the best for the future.
It's been an enjoyable journey watching your layout grow. of course family comes first. Have fun just running your railroad which is why we do it
Thank you for everything Joe! I learned so much from your videos!
Joe, I am former conrail employee and an n scale model railroader. I came upon your channel earlier this year. I have enjoyed your videos very much. You inspired me to keep at the hobby. Thanks for all you did and best of luck. Emjoy the holidays with your family and friends. You will be missed...
Good afternoon Joe, I've just recently came across your channel and subscribed. I haven't had much time to watch alot of your videos. Let's just say I'll be playing catch up with a lot of videos the next few months as I'm the owner of a landscaping business and this is pretty much my down time with the exception of snow storms. I totally understand where you're coming from and wish you and your family all the best!! Take care of yourself and maybe sometime down the road you'll post an update on the layout let everyone know your doing well. Thank you and have a good day. Happy modeling!! - Jason
Thanks for sharing! Have fun!!!
we all get to this point sir. I said the same thing, videos just make the train layout a job and a half. so like you, I took the time off from you tube. only did a few videos of new releases. So I hope, like me you take some time off the camera and later on,, some day, you will turn the camera back on. But, for now sir, Enjoy your trains.. I have,
Thanks for all the work you put into creating all of the videos you did end up creating. I've watched many and have learned much. And even though you say this is your last video, I hope you'll see fit to give us one final tour of your layout once it's complete. I know there are a lot of us out here who would love to see it. But if not, that's okay too. Happy Model Railroading!
Welcome to reality Joe. Kids huh so that’s the next twenty years gone right there. Thanks for all your content.I will have to rewatch all my favourite vids including some of the tips that I have learnt . Good luck going into the future from Perth Western Australia.
