Thanks Andrew... fun episode. I really enjoyed seeing the concentration of live oak in the downtown residential area. Seeing a canopy of live oak leaves at this time of year is very different. Seems almost like summer except that the other vegetation is dormant. You should also explore the old district around downtown Houston. They have many old Victorian style mansions from the late 1800's... Civil War era. I can't remember the name of the neighborhood... sorry. I also liked the bikeway where you can see the downtown skyline in the background. Gord
Thanks for watching! I love the tree canopy, probably feels great in the summer. Definitely want to go back and do another ride. Maybe I’ll find the Victorian homes
@@cyclingtexas1670 Andrew, Look up the Old Sixth Ward Historic District in Houston. It's located just s couple of blocks north of Buffalo Bayou in downtown. Gord
Man, you weren't kidding about those cows following you. That was crazy! Kicking up their hooves and everything. The weather sure has been strange. I don't live too far from you. I live over by Marion. Looks like we are going to have a bunch of warm days to ride in just a couple more days. I enjoyed watching your video. I am impressed how fast you ride. I could never keep up a pace like that.
I’m ready for some sunny days! Forget this cold! Thanks for watching! I think my average pace usually hovers around 10mph. I could never keep up with the people doing 15-20mph averages.
I've been looking for a Road Bicycle for like 5 years. Haven' t any money saved yet till date to buy one. And now that I'm married my wife is like you should upgrade yourself from bike to car. Why do you want to downgrade yourself to Bycycle 😢😢😢
The dog was happy to see you! Nice ride on empty country roads.
Thanks for watching. Love the endless county roads around the area.
Nobody on the streets, looks like dead city
Better than bumper to bumper traffic and crowded sidewalks
Andrew, did the snow melt already? Or didn't they get any here? Looks like the fish have gone south due to the weather.😅 Gord
It's gone 😢 didn't last long
@forwardthinkingtrucker I guess the fish can come back now! 🥳😂 Gord
Yeah the snow melted pretty quickly when the sun came out. Any snow that was left over was gone by the 2nd day
Thanks... I didn't know you got snow that far south. We didn't get any up here in DFW. But it went down into the teens the last two nights. It's been sunny and today is beautiful blue sky but cold outside. We will get up to 33° this afternoon and then 56° tomorrow and Thursday. Gord
We got just over an inch of snow according to the weather app. Lows in 20s feels like temp 10°
@cyclingtexas1670 Indeed... it looks like 10° in your video. Gord
They all seem to have that 'guilty as charged' look to them...😅 Gord
I really liked the lighting and subdued colors of this scene. Gord
Nice evening ride! I liked seeing you out on the bike again. The sunset lighting was great. You've had enough rain that there is some green grass by the side of the roads. We have it up here in DFW as well. Until the cows come home... You've got quite the following there, Andrew! 😊 Gord
It was the perfect weather, couldn’t resist going out especially since it’s gonna be freezing for the rest of the week.
@@cyclingtexas1670 Yup, the freeze began last night up here in DFW. Riding home from work last night on my 450 was really cold on the fingers. Gord
Que belleza 😍
Definitely Texas winter scenery... no green leaves here... not even live oak😂 Gord
I what Amazingly Gorgeous Land 💗
Andrew... the leaves on some trees are still hanging on. This area in San Antonio doesn't have the same spring like green as in the other locations you're shared. Interesting... The water is definitely flowing. Gord
Yes, it’s interesting to see.
Clearly one of the very best channels on TH-cam.
Excellent video, just enough narration, without unnecessary attempts at being Jay Leno or some comedian. I did this ride in 1993, likely my most memorable ride since 1972.
Thanks for the watching! Definitely a hidden gem of a road.
Great... a few more spring leaves! We have snow up here in DFW. Andrew, what kind of shoe/boot were you wearing? They sounded somewhat heavy and hollow walking over those steel grated stairs, down to the water. Gord
Yes I saw on the news, and it was just a Justin lace up work boot. It had been raining previously so it was muddy out.
@@cyclingtexas1670 Yeah... Justin's are a heavier boot. Thanks... mystery solved. Gord
@@cyclingtexas1670 The snow melted yesterday. Just a few little spots here and there and it will be all gone by the end of today. 👍 Gord
Is this sped up? lol
It’s real time footage but in segments.
There is a camping site near that area we love to kayak beautiful spots. Im planning on riding my gravel bike in those trails.
It’s a very beautiful area. Wish it was closer to my house!
Is it cold? Why are they wearing clothes
Probably was 90° air temperature, water temp probably around 85°. I assume you talking about the UV shirts? Essential to avoid horrible sunburns
Nice lake and area of the Texas hill country, Andrew. You sure are making the rounds these days. 😊 Gord
Andrew, When was this taken? It looks like spring. Gord
This was a couple days ago
@@cyclingtexas1670 Incredible... I looked closely at it to see if I could find any hint of fall color. But all I saw was what looked like sprouting green... Gord
@@gorrddright it’s interesting, the warm weather seems to be confusing the trees
@cyclingtexas1670 Indeed... was that new growth or old growth still hanging on? Or, you didn't notice? Gord
I really couldn’t tell. It kind of looks new but it wouldn’t really make sense?
Beautiful day on the river. Interesting how some parts seem to have allot more water flowing. Gord
Andrew, the San Marcos looks fairly high. Have they had rain down that way. Also, you have been moving around allot... or are these shorts from earlier? For instance, the Davis Mountains you visited are way over by El Paso at the very far western corner of Texas. That's a good days drive from the Guadalupe Mountains. Now you're back in the Hill Country, sigzagging across a lot of area. Gord
The San Marcos River always seems to have a pretty consistent flow also this is further downstream from the hill Country in Gonzales County so there’s should be more flow downstream. And some of the shots are from earlier. I went to Big Bend, Davis Mtns and Guad Mtns in Oct. and Nov.
@cyclingtexas1670 Thanks Andrew... that gives me some perspective on your recent travels. You must have had a great time and lots of adventures. Thanks for explaining the San Marcos section of river you covered. That makes sense. I didn't see any signs of high water, so it was confusing. That's pretty much it's level most of the time, except in a draught. Texas is a big place and there is much to see. I recently purchased a mid sized CFMoto 450nk for transportation and to scout out my own area. Today I went over to Dinosaur Valley State Park southwest of Granbury. It's pretty neat but It was two hours there and two hours back and the daylight is short these days. So I couldn't spend much time there. But it wasn't hot, like it would be during the longer summer days. Autumn, winter, and spring is still the best riding weather. Same with cycling. Gord
She looks like she is saying... "You're in my space!" I bet it was a bit hard finding a flat level area to pitch your tent in that neck of the mountains. Gord
That was an interesting pan, Andrew. It went from sunny on the left to overcast and rain over the city on the right. Gord
Where is that in Portland must be on the back side of the city
Along Sunset Dr about 2 miles up from Indian Point Pier
Andrew, was that at an overlook at Davis Mountains State Park? Very nice... I liked the look and feel of the place. Gord
This was Mount Locke at the McDonald Observatory
@@cyclingtexas1670 Thanks... Gord
Fantastic shots, Andrew. Reminds me of New York City with those towering walls. Gord
It is crazy how high and steep those walls are!
@@cyclingtexas1670 Yes, it very dramatic. It's fun to take a kayak down that section. I've seen videos of people doing that. But you have to be careful not to try it when the river is running too high and too quickly. There are some low lying willows and other shore line bushes that you can get pulled into and capsized. Gord
Incredible sunrise views, Andrew. This area is also known as the Texas Bad Lands. It's very hard living in that area... but a great place to visit. What was the temperature up in the mountains at that time of the morning? Gord
I think this morning was low 40s maybe high 30s
@cyclingtexas1670 Thanks... I was wondering if it was that cold at altitude, that far south... Gord
Magnificent! Cold up there??
It was probably about high 30°s low 40s this particular morning
Top of the world here in Texas, Andrew. Thanks for sharing the lovely slot. Gord
Fantastic... Andrew. Really a beautiful clip. Thanks. 😊 Gord
Beautiful road I can’t wait
I expect to be in NB in March . Right now I ride in the mountains of Querétaro mx . This looks very flat. Is there any hills?
River Road is relatively flat but a very worthwhile scenic ride through the canyon. Definitely some respectable hills in the surrounding areas throughout the Hill Country.
what month?
@@tjmoore1084 July I want to say
Spladoosh
I may have seen the San Antonio Riverwalk in a recent Skyrizi commercial.
Found it ! Just GPS " Lazy L& L Campground New Braunfels " . It's right on the River Rd, . It's a few miles from Landa Park in New Braunfels and it's starts out Sattler road just off South Access road at Canyon lake dam . Gps above should take you on it from either side . Not much open 11/7 but beautiful drive to see the rivers and get me to Wurstfest !
Thank you for that!❤
What is the route taken in this video? Thanks
FM-1375, near the North end of Lake Conroe
Great video ! Will be there for Conquer the Coast in a few days . Would like to do a recovery ride the next day . Was this on a Sunday morning by any chance ? 🚴🏼✌️
That’s the road I live on😂😂😂😂❤
I live here❤😂
It looks amazing, when did you go? I feel like if I go the water fall is going to be dry 😅
It was gorgeous! But it was the same day of a crazy rain storm. Trail was flooded and roadway to get in was flooded. I suspect it’ll be a trickle right now, but I could be wrong
beautiful scenery. where the southwest begins. some steep, big hills out here
Now that’s a real man 🎉
Andrew, Do you live close by? Or do you have to get up early early in the dark in order to get there by sunrise? Gord
No to see the sunrise I’d have to leave the house around 4:30 to get to the coast by 6:30 and have a few minutes to spare to take some photos before the sun starts coming up.
I’m a roadie from north west Rhode Island. Just moved to SA for work, right near the Rim too! RI, MA, CT has a TON of Mtb trail and quiet back roads. I’m seeing a few mtb places down in the Leon Creek greenway but not too much opportunity for road riding, and every bike I’ve seen so far has a light on it, is that a law or just the norm down there? Can you please tell me what the cycling scene is like? Helmets, lights, cars vs cycling in a kit, police, etc. Is it worth it to bring a road bike down or should I just bring my everyday franken-gravel bike and call it a day?
There’s far more Road opportunities than MTB in SA. You live by the rim which is great since your right at the edge of the Hill Country! As long as you’re comfortable with road riding then the opportunities are literally endless. The vast majority of cars are respectful and give you space. Police always are friendly as long as you ride responsibly. I believe the law is reflectors or lights. Lights just provide better visibility which is better when road riding. Bring your road bike. By the Rim good roads are Babcock outside of 1604, Scenic Loop, Boerne Stage, Cielo Vista.
@@cyclingtexas1670 This is excellent! Thank you!
