- One of the best roads if not the best in central/south Texas. Always a beautiful drive no matter the day nor the season. Each time is an escape from life. Absolutely stunning scenery in this river canyon along the Guadalupe River with towering trees and scenic crossings. Beautiful homes and river outfitters line the river and road.
Morning lighting just after sunrise.
Filmed in 4K/30 FPS on a GoPro hero 9.
Nice drive along River Road in New Braunfels in mid summer. Really lovely area of Texas. It never gets old.
As hot as it's been, I was really surprised to see campers in tents camping along the river. Without at least fans moving the air around, you just sweat at night.

It’s very beautiful and you’re right it never gets old
Found it ! Just GPS " Lazy L& L Campground New Braunfels " . It's right on the River Rd, . It's a few miles from Landa Park in New Braunfels and it's starts out Sattler road just off South Access road at Canyon lake dam . Gps above should take you on it from either side . Not much open 11/7 but beautiful drive to see the rivers and get me to Wurstfest !
I loved this video... I watched it again and noticed there are so many different iconic riverside canopy tree views.
All the old buildings and structures from a time past still remaining and in full use. It's kind of like a time machine in that regard.

Yeah it’s very cool I love this road
@@cyclingtexas1670 Yeah... you have several videos of this ride, all in various seasons and conditions.
I liked this one because I know what the weather conditions are like. It's dry and a bit brown because of the heat and drought.
I'd like to see the same views again when it is greener and more lush. But then it starts getting too dark under the canopy and any outside light tends to blow out skies.
Cameras have gotten allot better in low light but they still are blowing out under extreme light contrast.
This wasn't too bad in that regard because the dried out browns of vegetation offered the white contrast to transition from light to dark much better.
At least, that was my impression.

@@gorrdd yes it’s difficult sometimes filming with the blown out exposure like you said. Like you said when it’s a beautiful tree canopy you don’t quite get the same effect on camera because of the over exposure. The whites take over the whole screen as opposed to the beauty.
@@cyclingtexas1670 Exactly... it all depends on what the camera light sensor is focusing on. If you have some intermediate browns, like in this drought, you can get neutral light sensing. This means the darks aren't too dark and the lights aren't too light.
So this may be the best you can get in a summer setting. Winters always come out great because there is no tree canopy shade to cause sky blowout.

I looked at it briefly again, and the blue in the skys was still mostly blown out and the darks in the shade still too dark for much detail.
So... I guess the browns really didn't help that much. Nevertheless, I have seen much worse when the foliage is out full and very dark green. This wasn't like that.
This is clearly the best that can be done under these circumstances. It's sad because in real life these canopies are really lovely and the camera just can't catch the full beauty, as you say.
