Tried this with 2 PS4s can't get it to work. The screen / menu at 12:19 ... I can't toggle right and select 'OK' Really confusing. The SSD isn't a dud. Stuck it in a PC and formatted it to FAT32 from unformatted just fine. The controller works fine on Netflix - able to toggle left and right no probs. The USB worked fine reinitialising another PS4 a month ago. I haven't a clue what's wrong.

I got one for free a few weeks back, but i couldn't even make a new Google account for it and all the preloaded apps couldn't update and wouldnt work right, so I just side loaded and APK of the Google Play Store and installed Firefox, which i used to download Retroarch, which is all I will probably ever use on it anyway 😅

Thanks! I added 8gb without any issues. Also replaced the coin cell, and surprisingly all my BIOS settings were unchanged.

what about speeds of the external drive ? isn't better a thunderbolt 4 case ? can i run nicely apps from the external ssd ? thanks

Speaking from experience, do not rely on external drives...just don't. They eject and unmount like crazy

I look at it as if the base model is 512gb and you can downgrade if you don't have the money to 256gb. Costco was only $90 over the entry price for 512gb. Granted I do believe 1TB should be the base at a better price but I use 2 external drives for everything but app downloads.

I just did almost exactly the same thing yesterday. I had gotten the base m4 and the sabrent thunderbolt 3 enclosure and the WD ssd 1TB 770 gaming drive . Speeds are great

I'd prefer a TB enclosure over USB, purely for the speed improvement. Especially the TB5 ones with a Pro or Max CPU.

Using a 2TP Samsung 990 Pro external SSD board, I have saved £600 over the Apple web options.

this enclosure is too slow comparing to internal ssd... if this is only option, paying Apple for extension would make sense in some cases... but definitely doesn't make sense, coz thunderbolt 4 enclosures are out there and let external ssd fly at speed offered by Apple internally. Check out such brands as Acasis and Orico among most recognized ones... I can recommend ORICO M2V01-C4 for ca. 60 USD.

"If there's a failure that's it" <- um, no. As you started out saying only a minute or so before, the internal storage is on a small card that can be replaced. Any competent repairman can do it, or one can do it yourself if you're handy with electronics. Right now the challenge is that only authorized Apple repair places can buy parts, but eventually there will be third party alternatives.

This is a great video for those taking old Macs and fixing them. Unfortunately the link for the High Sierra installed, although still reachable, Apple makes the grey "Get" button unclickable Apple doesn't allow a download of an old MAC OS Sequioa to a MAC such as an M1, as the old sequioa can't be loaded onto an M1. For example, I have an M1 and need to install Sierra for an iMAC with a core duo that has bad HD.

One thing to be cautious of when using 1.5V lithium batteries is that they will totally stop working when depleted. There is no gradual drop off in power as in the NI-MH batteries. This is especially important when using a flashlight as the light will suddenly shut off without warning and leave you in the dark.

Thank you for this upload good sir. So i just had an easy question for reassurance. I bought a usb drive on the web with the intialize system software or firmware or however you call it that is up to date and everything has already on it. I am going to best buy tommorow to buy a 1tb pny ssd for my ps4 slim which is already a 1tb but it has the regualar hdd currently that has issues here and there. I am buying an extra fat32 usb drive to do exactly like you and back up my saved data. So as long as i follow this i should be good right? I dont have wifi access or a computer so that is why i bought the preinstalled usb drive with ps4 system software, as long as the usb has everything it should as advertised i am hoping everything will go smoothly. I bought my PS4 slim brand new less then two years ago online but i have had some wierd issues with it since i got it. I dont know if it was dripped hard in delivery or something but anytime i would put it into rest mode it would just beep blue and not turn on after being put in rest mode, that was since day one of buying it. And then recently it said data corrupted out of nowhere while playing spiderman. I have rebuilt database numerous times but as it has had issues right out the gate i feel hopefully it will run better and have less issues with a decent ssd.

Can use Car socket to recharge it right? Everyone keeps saying dual USB-C but some say can use DC to charge some say you can't. Thanks would be nice to confirm before purchasing.

Great video. I've just done this with a 2009. It's a lovely machine, and more than quick enough for the basics. Love the white MacBooks - feels like it's from a different age, but still usable and very cool! I used DosDude's patcher for Catalina which is a bit more supported for different browsers.

Does it transcode 4k videos without struggling? (Plex) Did you come across a decent photo backup app with a good UI?

I have not come across a solar bank, albeit I have not had that many, that did not have the lights flashing to indicate solar charging. I was gifted this blavor solar bank and the typical green light turns on but no lights flash. I plug into wall and they flash. I am not sure if this is a defect, intentional or maybe they just forgot to plug in the wire that activates the solar panel. But this thing does not tell me its solar charging and I saw a video that took about 100 days to fully charge in direct sunlight. So what am I missing here?

That a Linux issue, Why are there Nine + Plex? Can any one explain why there are more than Nine versions of PLEX there except to confuse people? How are people supposed to know which version is correct? There should only be one.

One important thing to mention for having it work on 2.4 ghz on switch, there is a setting called "Pro controller wired communication" on the switch that must ne turned on, otherwise it won't work. It wasn't turned on for me by default.

Great product but the setup instructions are HIDEOUS, also the routing on the software is HIDEOUS as well. The directions they give you are SO VAGUE and doesnt explain crap. I wish theyd offer a good service to help the customers whom bought this product. Ive gotten lucky and found a twitch streamer who happened to have the same product as me (M-game solo) and he is a true nerd and happened to figure it out. He helped me setup the basics but im still trying to figure this thing out, months after buying this. 😅

Just got a new Mini. I'm trying to use it with my old Thunderbolt display. I have a Thunderbolt adaptor that I tested the display with on 2 Macbook Pros, 1 an Intel and the other an M2. It worked perfectly in both cases. When the Mini arrived, I hooked everything up and got no result. After swapping inputs I took it down to my office to test. The Mini came right up on my monitor. What am I doing wrong?
