Siemens Scenic 660 - a Windows 98 PC from 1998
มุมมอง 5738 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a showcase of a prebuilt Windows 98 PC from 1998, the Siemens Scenic 660. It's a Slot 1, Intel Pentium 3 computer with AGP graphics, a bunch of PCI slots and an ISA slot. It's also my childhood PC. Note on the CRT flicker: I tried to reduce the CRT's flicker so it would look better on the camera, but unfortunatly I don't have a dedicated camera (I used my smartphone to record this and i...

A remake/copy/replica of GTA Vice city and San Andreas V-Rock radio station, V-Rock Hotel, Rock City record shop and Victim shop (has heavy metal clothing). Why? Because...why not?

im a total stranger to soundcards but this is real neat to see! thank you for sharing
Dreamblaster almost sounds like real instruments.
Sounds good on them all 👍 Doom soundtrack is legendary
As far as I know, Roland SC-55 was the gear what is used to make these sound tracks.
for this not to be a direct capture those speakers sound beautifully amazing
DOOt
I've never thought of this before... that different soundcards had different nuances compared to each other, this is sick as hell
You can replicate this even on a modern pc by midi soundfonts. The Arachno soundfont in particular sounds badass. I don't think I figured it out for myself yet but there are ways to make Doom source ports use different soundfonts so the music sounds different in the game.
the gravis ultrasound was my favorite, kinda neat to see just how different each card really was back then
1:26 chinese doom
Cool I think 2 is the most unique, but 4 is probably my favorite
Duuude, this is so cool. Could you please make some sort of direct capture or something so we can experience this in its full glory? Tks for making this btw
Unfortunatly I don't have a device that can do direct capture. Sorry.
@@the1990kman If you know how to do virtual machines that might work.
What sound card do you need for it to sound like how it does on modern source port's?
The last one sounds close to the modern source ports (at least I think, i didn't use every source port so i'm not sure if they all sound the same). Although the source ports should mainly use what is known as Microsoft GS wavetable, which is actually just Roland SC-55 or SOUNDCANVAS.
2.1 Soundscape sound good, but that Dreamblaster is the closest to the original song
If you could play Doom on a Macintosh Performa 6300CD on Mac OS 7.1 that’d be awesome. It would sound completely strange to you as well
Really? Macintosh version also has different soundcard support?
@ it does. I wish I could describe how it sounded. It didn’t sound like guitar at all. Not until Mac OS 7.5 or 8. I can’t remember because it’s been so long!
@@1stMjolnirMarkV i don't have a macintosh though. Has anyone recorded and uploaded on youtube before? I'd like to hear at least a sample of it.
Soundscape and Adlib sound great and GUS does too
dreamblaster sounds pretty good
pretty neat
As far as i have understood the DOOM music written in MIDI format and it sounds different on each card because different card executes it differently
No it doesn't, it boils down to the instruments that get used. The modern standards uses SF (Sound Format), what I use in media players i.e. AIMP. Generally all sound cards handle midi's in the same way.
@@Nero-t9x there was absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. and don't like your own post.
@@GraveUypo Well as the saying goes "Truth hurts".
@@Nero-t9x he is correct for the adlib-compatible modes, every FM card has a different sound because Adlib is icky on a bunch of cards.
Every midi soundcard had its own set of "instruments" that's why it sounds different on each card.
Cool stuff
dadadaaadadadadadaaaa
Good brooo
Awe 32 sounds like a bunch of well composed farts
the druns on the adlib sound like a plunger
The ESS Audiodriver hit me in the feel so hard.... Thank you (:
Now compare it to the way the "Steam MIDI" version sounds like :)
2.1 label is missing in the video.
Dreamblaster is just straight up Sound Canvas samples
I think it pretty much is, just slightly different.
i need this pcs
Doom and its music are inseparable. Without the music, you don't have Doom.
i played it with sounds from PC speaker, that was intense! haha
0:19 I used to play doom exactly like this and my mom was freaking out because she would say, “what is all that noise!! Turn it off!”. You can imagine the immediate panic I would feel when I would just be trying to play doom, and my mom would yell at every time.

wow thats funny
Lovely!

Your soundcards work perfectly

1. Adlib: Basic, the kinda sound I'd hear in the early school PC's in Québec. 2. Soundscape Adlib Simulation: Oh gosh, no... 2.1 Soundscape: 2003-2004 souvenirs galore from the PC I was loaned at school. 3. Awe 32: Sounds like someone choking and coughing. 4. Gravis Ultrasound: I recall having a PC at home that sounded just like that in 2000-2001. 5: Dreamblaster X2CS: Late 2000's PC souvenirs from when I changed home.
This is the nerdiest thing I've ever seen, I love it.
Same shit, different name🤪 Nothing beats live guitar.
I love hearing the opening notes in different soundcards. Such a soothing vibe, it is.
Awesome!
😮Love god and love all people. Trust, hope and do good in god. 😂Believe in the gospel Jesus Christ for Jesus Christ shed his blood and died for the sins of the world and he was buried and rose again from the dead three days later. For Jesus Christ God almighty and the flesh and if you believe in the gospel you are spiritually reborn into the family of God.😊
May the lord open
Amen to that.
When doom slayer is deigned to be canonized, then we'll talk.
You're commenting in a video that is about testing different ISA cards with a doom midi soundtrack... I'm not even sorry: no one cares at all. Keep your religion to yourself.
Thank you for this.
Game DOOM love Video brilliant. Thank
adlib sounds horrible.. unfortunately that's how most people heard it in the 90s, if at all!
