Thank you for checking out my channel. From 2023, this channel will focus on running, and track and field athletics.
* I produce documentaries on the legends and the great races.
* I will cover aspects of recreational running. As a runner myself, with over half a century of wear on my poor feet, I have a few words of encouragement to offer.
* I will cover more unusual aspects and offer new perspectives which other channels don't cover.
* I will critique and react to other channels' athletics and advice videos.
I hope you'll find my documentaries and perspectives of interest, and if you do, please consider subscribing.
I also do gardening videos and my legacy gardening videos will remain on this channel. However, I have also started a separate channel for my new gardening videos called Prentis Hancock Gardening, please see link below. Please feel free to check it out and subscribe over there too?

Papaver somniferum: Opium Poppies - UK Guide
I think that's a very young, pre world mile record John Walker finishing third.
Best up close video of the plant as it sprouts to maturity. I started more than 100 seeds in May under a translucent tote until June and it now looks like a bush after growing all summer. Sadly, Not 1 flower bloomed ? 🤔😮💨
RIP Tom Byers, a true legend
Music too loud
Tom Byers was a total running stud. I was doing a long run one afternoon in 1982 in Alton Baker Park, doing my typical 7:00 pace, and he flew past me like I was standing still. You could always tell it was him, by the hair, it was a lion's mane.
That clown named Bubbles still freaks me out. I thought the eyebrows were the eyes which made him look nice, but the eyes were the circles which made him look evil! That and the whining sound!
Holy Moly!!! You could supply an entire country for a decade with the amount of Salt Steve Ovett has produced over that loss!!
What strains of poppy has the heroin alkaloid in? I was told the queen's poppy may have, don't know if that was the strain used in Afghanistan for production. Not a lot of information out there about the alkaloid content in each poppy strain.
Papavor somnerferium is what I think your looking for , but they don’t have H alkaloid, that can only be made by mixing chemicals, they do however have Morphine & other alkaloids
ASMR voice - sort of an English Peter Thomas (Forensic Files)
50 years very soon
Poppy flowers only last a couple of days but are so beautiful, bees go into ecstasy rolling around on their backs as they gather the pollen going round and round… my poppy’s are a metre high with multiple heads and range of colours from pink to cherry red…
Elegante 🧡
Thank you 👍
£100 was a HELL of a lot of money in 1967 - and especially for an 8 year old. An inflation rate of 5.63% per year means £100 in 1967 is worth £2274.70 in 2024.
The yanks think my pfp is me when I was a kid so I’ll show them this
looking for Papaver somniferum seeds - any suggestions Prentis?

Do not promote or propagate this plant. Highly invasive.
That honeybee is having a great time rolling around in morphinoid pollen.
Bring back the test card much better than Alison Hammond
Creeped me out when this used to be on as a kid .😮
Social media has social engineered people to be greedy with social media companies money. If you like and subscribe and follow as many channels as possible it cost you nothing. Every clip regardless of the content should be viral. Spread the love.
Is it legal to grow opium poppys in the united states aslong as its just for gardening and cosmetic purposes? Like basically is it okay to grow them for there beauty in the united states as of right this current moment?
Yes completely legal to grow poppies
I remember this BBC test card very well first time I recall seeing it was in early 70s around 1977 i was 6 years old at the time in 1977 ha ha 🤣 i remember the enigmatic smile of Carole the little girl at the time and the clown 🤣 frankly at the time of 1977 when I was 6 years old the clown 🤡 lol scared the life out of me ha ha 🤣
Bubbles was very much misunderstood.
She was paid £0.0014285714 for every hour it was broadcast. Some usless information for you all 😂
I see what you did there, Stephen! Lol!
God your voice is so boring.. Are you reading it?

Some more tips... scatter a lot of seeds in small areas. they start very fast and lean on each other and crawl along the ground at first and can be damaged by watering! Cover them for the first 3 weeks with a transparent plastic to preserve moisture and dont water from above until they are producing leaves. start them outdoors very early covered in patches or large containers. they are very weird plants! Easily shocked and stressed so once started don't try and replant or move them around. once they flower the petals drop in 3-5 days and once that occurs you have a short window of less than 3 days to score the bulbs with razor or sharp electronics tweezers and not too deeply youll see the milky light brown latex immediately once scored and let dry on bulb before gently scraping off. you don't get much per bulb so if you have any intention of commercial level production you will fail unless you have acres of them and its a full time job!
This is not that kind of channel and I do not condone the information you have given.
they don't produce heroin, they produce morphine which is taken off to labs to be made into various quality heroin
I was a tv engineer in the late 70s,so spent many years looking at this.At college,i was taught the meaning of all the lines, colours etc.
For some reason, perhaps my lifetime interest in trade tests, I was asked to write her father's obit for the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography; which i did. Carole rang me to go through the article with me. A long time ago now.
I detest this plant. I made the mistake of moving a containerised one of these into a garden border. A gardener, who I paid to help tidy my garden over the winter, turned all the soil over. He wasn’t aware that this plant was even there and by doing so, he spread this plant absolutely everywhere. I’ve been digging it up for the last few years. I also painted glyphosate on small new shoots last year but it’s started appearing again this spring. I feel cursed with it now. It also reverts to plain boring green and doesn’t even keep the variegated appearance once it takes over. You must be joking about propagating this plant! It doesn’t need any help to reproduce itself! You don’t even need to try! I even found some that had grown underground to appear on my lawn. It also has a strong sharp smell when you break a stem or rhizome. The rhizomes grow extremely deep and are very difficult to remove completely. It’s the worst plant ever and should have a very prominent warning on the pot when being sold. I was thinking last year that the only way I’ll ever get rid of this nightmare plant would be to have the whole of the area excavated and remove, then new soil delivered. However I think I have too many plants that may not survive such a disruption and it would also cost a lot to do.
This remains as one of my favorite races of all time.
Thanks. Glad you liked it.

Thank goodness I stopped watching Television 40 years ago😀
I wish Someone could bless me with some fresh pods for pain...
Born in 1960, I remember this test card and the white spot when a TV was turned off...
O for the days of the cathode ray tube...
I grow them every summer mixing them in with other types of flowers to conceal them a bit. 😉

This is very helpful. I would have tried rooting from the stalk.
Thanks.
Great video. Grew up in the 70’s & 80s during the classic trade test transmission ( test card) years. Carole & bubbles role as the test card & clown was legendary 😊
Thanks for the great comment and for watching.
@@PrentisHancock1 Your Most Welcome 👍
Thank you for the great film footage. I'm from the same era as Byers and Scott and I'd have to agree with Scott's evaluation of Tom Byers. Yes, he was "flaky" but I'd say in a good way, but I do believe he had the most natural talent of all, and I mean ALL top runners at that time. I'm not sure what was missing but if I were to guess, I'd say his free spirit attitude would interrupt often with his goals and workouts. The spartan attitude that is needed at world class running was counter to this free spirit mindset.
Thanks for the great comment, Dash. Well, he did achieve five major circuit wins. And he qualified for the World Championships and made it to the semis. And his times are still good even by today's standards.
This is truly a well done, comprehensive video. I hope Ian Stewart is doing well nowadays.
Thank you, Gary. I'm glad you liked it.
Hi i live in england and would love to try growing these are they potent when harvested thanks for video kind regards from essex
If you're implying what I think you're implying, I don't condone it. This is not that kind of channel.

Why? What's wrong with Mo Farah? Just because he never won the World Cross Country title? Thanks for watching!
This is a very well put-together video!
