    I always use bio too, could never get a decent clean with non bio, even with adding vanish or washing on 60. We've used cloth nappies for over 12 years and havent had anything fall apart before its time. Ironically when we were using non bio for a while we saw lots of wear on our night nappies, im guessing now looking back we had ammonia buildup and was eating away at the fabrics.

    Glad it worked out. But it’s a concerning that they gave you deadlines; like 4 centimeters in 4 hours. It doesn’t have to be that fast. Pushing only fur an hour? Also not realistic. Saying it’s because baby not tolerating labor? Well they are pushing the limit by giving pitocin. Makes artificially strong contractions. So, the induction causes the problems and then they threaten c-section. It’s crazy. You’re lucky it worked out. The suction method has very real risks too, even worse than forceps ( if dr is skilled with forceps ). Again, glad you and baby got through it well. I just wish doctors would not interfere unless truly necessary.

    • @JoannaStewart
      @JoannaStewart 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don’t think there was much logic behind it, it definitely seemed like a ‘we have x many other women to deliver so let’s time block each delivery’. Which tbh the whole induction felt like that as there wasn’t much justification for giving me an induction in the first place. I got a sense of being understaffed and wanting to manage each labour by scheduling inductions etc but maybe I’m cynical. I researched a lot so I felt informed thankfully, and as a result I’m at peace with it all. But these situations can be unnecessary and traumatic for a lot of women, those experiences seem to be common in every mat ward right now. BUT I will say that yes baby and I are great, thanks. And the actual many thin experience of dilapan was much better than I anticipated compared to other methods so I wouldn’t want to scare anyone. Just research everything and try and be confident and in control

    Don't blame you for quitting. I work in IT, and my girlfriend is a teacher. There is technical solutions to ease the workload but from what I can see they will NEVER implement them. And even if they did they would then add more responsibilities to the job and you end right back up at square one. Teaching seems to have descended into a horrible overwork culture. And if you want to see how bad it can get, just take a look at a South Korean Hogwan. It needs fresh thinking and a total update in terms of resources for teachers such as AI, reporting tools, timesaving solutions such as generating lessons which can then be changed or tweaked at will, data analysis so that you can then see what each child is having trouble with and you know what to focus on with lessons, a system that will automatically tell you when there is enough availability for meetings, a scanner that will read an entire classroom of test papers and then use AI to mark them more accurately than a human. But there is no will for this change, and I can't understand why.

  • @Fiddling_while_Rome_burns
    @Fiddling_while_Rome_burns 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The pecking order of the school system is government, higher ups in school, parents, teachers and last of all the kids. It's more important to pretend to the parents the kids are being educated than actually educate them, it's more important to achieve government targets than educate the kids, it's more important to raise the teacher's pay than educate the kids. I worked in the UK system, both full time and supply teaching and like a huge number of teachers, I sent my kids to a collective homeschool while working in a school. Now I work in a foreign school, classes of 10-12 kids, and 200 in the whole school, kindergarten to sixth form. Really laid back, nurturing and family environment, no targets to meet or masses of admin, no tight curriculums, just make sure the kids have fun each lesson is our main raison d'etre. And this isn't an expensive private school either just a local village school. The British school system is an antiquated system based in Victorian ideas. It's little more than a baby sitting service for workers and a way of crushing kids souls and dehumanising them ready for life. The only solution is to abolish the whole system and start again.

    • @JoannaStewart
      @JoannaStewart 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I totally agree, it is archaic and isn’t in line with the times and the future economy at all. It just makes a majority of children into workers, it is sad. It is great to hear of an alternative though, I hadn’t known home schooling to be a big thing amongst teachers but I will look into that. Which country are you working in? It sounds fantastic! 😊

    2024 and teachers are quitting left and right due to - disrespect by children, parents and employers (overtime+, do this and that extra) - actual violence. Kids getting physical. - uncontrollable classrooms. Noise, interrupting, not listening, not doing exercises - kids go unpunished for misbehavior. Current rules make it impossible to hold children accountable - just passing kids on the next grade, regardless of their abilities. (everybody is a winner) - parents fail to parent theirs children (screen time instead of helping with homework, making sure their child can read, learning about the world and showing them by, for example, excursions to farms, musea, planetarium, castles,..etc. -...
