Quartz64 Model A - Linux, Gaming, And More!
มุมมอง 1.3K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Welcome to a video of me messing around with Pine64's Quartz64 Model A running GNU/Linux and emulating some x86-64 games. This was largely inspired by a video posted by Taki Udon. Please note that I am a noob when it comes to a lot of this stuff, so I'm not the kind of person to consult with queries related to box64 or SBCs in general. Also, this video is not sponsored, not a review, and Pine64...

How To Control RGB Peripherals on Linux (with OpenRGB)
I have a USB external hard drive and a Dell backup program for windows 10. Would my external hard drive automatically recognize the Linux OS, Mint, and keep the two systems seperate with a dual boot? Should complications be expected? Thanks.
Hey GNULectures how have you been? I am looking for missing music sounds tracks for Open arena they are called OA03 OA04 OA05 OA09 OA10 OA11 OA12 WaterTech Lah BaseWarFare Do you have any of them?
I miss Compiz Fusion. I just devoted 100G of real estate to Linux Mint on my 1TB hard drive only to find out that I can’t run CF. I did find a couple of alternatives for the spinning cube but it’s just not the same 😢
Excellent video. I've still got to get one. I'm going to get the best one I can for the lowest price.
Oh thank god NFS heat runs on linux
I picked some a couple of free Thinkpads from work (W541 & T520). Right now I'm working with the W541 and have just installed Linux Mint. It's a very solid machine and is very nice to work with.
I want an operating system that just works right out of the box. No messy elusive config files to hunt down and alter. No 1980's era cryptic DOS like commands needing to be typed on the command line like some corny hacker movie scene. No hunting down elusive driver files to make my hardware compatible and spending hours and days trying to make them work. No pulling my hair out because the new cool program I want to run isn't compatible with my OS. No having to choose between 10,000 different distros that are not always compatible with each other and you have to recompile programs to get it to work. I tried Ubuntu and Linux Mint. Spent weeks researching the different way Linux works compared to Windows and how repositories work, the file structure layout and some basics of the SUDO commands etc. Spent weeks trying to get it to work with my hardware and find compatible drivers for everything. Spent more weeks trying to find replacements for the must have programs I love. I tried Wine and VM's and duel-booting. That created even MORE problems. Finally my frustration level hit an all time high and I decided Linux was too much hassle to reinvent and build from the ground up what I already have with Windows.
Utile video for multiple viewing
Can i use Davinci Resolve, FLStudio and similar programs in Linux ?
Same at Windows terminal games are only for Linux&BSD&Solaris
Ok find use Solaris and no need backups🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🟠
Bro if i dualboot it straight comes to windows i already tired it!!!
Exactly Lutris cant run on Windows 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Also Yenküp (my game) cant run on IOS (unless browser)
Companies will just start getting commissioned to NOT allow their software to support linux. I am not joking. I predict this will happen.
Blender 2.79.7 runs fine on the Orange Pi 5, using the latest version of box64.
I would love a website or something, where you type in your PC specs, CPU, graphics card, Ram, etc, and it gives you options. I have tried a lot of distroa and they all are not compatible with one thing or not. I want to move from windows but cannot find one that does'nt light up the error logs etc. I want to use a distro, not spend all my time trying to fix the problems from every install.
im trying out linux mint on a couple of my laptops. im not gonna buy windows 11. so either i use linux in the future or go tablet all the way, aka ios. , android is way to bloated
The peace of realizing that all distros suck in their own way:
Stop complaining about volume, just increase it if you can't hear 🤷
still no Fortnite on Linux huh? 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Dude I literally cannot hear you. I can't watch your video if you MUMBLE. Speak up next time.
1:02 me in a virtual machine tho
I wonder if it would be possible to make a tool to use hibernate states on Linux and Windows at the same time to switch between them without a full reboot. If you are writing the full system state to the disk in each case, you should in theory be able to go between two systems. It would still take time and probably you would have to have something reset hardware every time. But it would be better than fully restarting each time...

there is no way you played the latest version of ultrakill right there.
i predict a huge youtuber here
as a normal person, i understood nothing and kept continuing
Great video. Please do more stuff on some of the less popular SBCs. I do a lot of projects that use these but I am very disconnected from Raspberry Pi itself because of supply issues and price issues. I have been super interested in getting an Orange Pi for a long time and one of the big "what ifs" was the software side of it and I have heard all kinds of things. Your video helps!
just don't
Windows games on it run quite better than emulation over Linux, you can run crysis quite easily . You did not use android at all
I wasn't interested in using Android since I was looking at it from the perspective of a desktop use. I'll look into it though.
@@gnulecturesIn android emulation is good.
So, you're really Robrick, aren't you? We want more classic lego videos/rants!
lol
Just bought a second machine so I can get Linux. I need to keep my other machine Windows as I use it for work. This video is helpful. Thanks!
I do not consider this video a review because I didn't make it with the intention of determining whether you should buy it or not (most of you probably shouldn't). On this channel, I just like experimenting with niche hardware and software. Orange Pi did not sponsor me, they didn't send this product out for free, and they didn't have a say in the video (hence why I mentioned the problem I encountered with Orange Pi OS).
The big suppliers of software are trying to get us to pay for "software as a service". Great business model for them but a waste of money for home consumers. Moving to Linux and Libra Office can save a lot of money in the long run. I worked with Microsoft tools like Office for a lot of years. I avoided getting into Libra Office only because it might have confused or slowed me down at work. Once retired I settled on Libra Office on both Linux and Windows platforms. Does everything I need (and always did!).
I've used various distros of Linux on and off from around the turn of the millenium. Usually alternating with every second, crap verion of Windows. My current driver was purchasing a laptop with Win11 installed. In my opinion, it's going to join Me, Vista and Win8 on the list of the worst operating systems. I previously installed Ubuntu on an older laptop which simply took ages to boot on Win10 and struggled to do anything when and if it did. It booted in under a minute with Linux. Problem solved. I might add that I've also been a VMS and Irix (Unix) sysyem administrator, so I don't get daunted by such things as command lines or writing/modifying device drivers.
395.00 € inc. VAT No way! N100 Piccolo 8" for 350€
real (I use Fedora btw)
Unless they can make an installation dummy proof and generally dummy resistant, I can't deal with it. It looks great but I'm a USER not a part time tech. 😢
My favorite thing about Linux, is it just works? If there is something wrong, there is a customer support waiting to talk to you the other thing is linux doesn't make you buy stuff like, for instance, office, most programs are free hand open source, so they work on multiple computers
I would compare it to moving from a Dodge to a Toyota. Sure the Dodge was Flashy but it had a lot of problems. Now that I'm driving the Toyota, I notice dials and switches are in a different place but I don't worry about whether or not it will start on a cold day.
meh, as dev, both have their schiit loads of problems for different dev stacks, ios included.
6:40 apex devs saw this video and shut linux out lel
oioioi I would never trust myself with doing that on my pc
That's fair tbh, I bricked it the first time so I was worried I wouldn't be able to get it working again.
Linux Mint Xfce baby. No stress, no drama.
Yes.
Nice ending.
Do not change just because MS is making lot of money. Recently they have reduced price of os and office drastically. If you are a casual user doing nothing serious with computer, os does not matter. I can not work without Photoshop 7. Never ever switch os or app in the middle of any serious project. Do not try to run windows and linux same time. You will loose your years of experience.
what? have you heard of Recall on Windows? That crab take screenshots of your desktop and clipboard every few minutes. also, the only requirement for problem free dual boot is buying second disk and plug it to your computer.
