Is 20mm nodule considered large? Or dangerous? We just found one that size in my left lung. CT found it by accident when i went in for a CT of my heart in early August 2024, it was 18mm. By end of August it had grown to 20mm, spotted on a follow up CT to confirm what they saw. Originally they spotted it as a 1mm on a CT of my torso/chest and pelvis back in June 25th 2024. But no one thought anything of it because it was 1mm. So about two months it grew 19mm (gojng from 1 to 20).

It’s a bit strange for nodule to grow that fast. I’m not sure if they caught the entire nodule and whether it was the same one on your ct in June. 20 mm is considered something that can’t be ignored but there are both benign and not benign causes for this. Anyway, you should check with whoever ordered your ct scan to see if you need to see a specialist, such as a pulmonologist for this or not.

I have just been diagnosed with a lung nodule. It is very worrying to me. It didn’t light up on the PET scan so that’s a good thing. It’s too small to have a biopsy. I have been given options, which is good. But I’m still so unsure whether to go for surgery and have it taken out.
