Battery-powered equipment has come a long way, but they aren't capable of clearing deep snow. A little advice from a 75-year old Buffalonian, change your oil yearly, grease your augers yearly. You can use synthetic oil if you prefer. Use ethanol free gas, if available, and use stabilizer in the gas. Happy snowblowing.

Loved your build. I wanted a van but my truck is paid for and I figured I'll just run it until it can't run anymore. 2005 Nissan frontier with only a 5' bed. Unless I put the tail gate down that is. I just bought a 6' bed topper. I wanna figure out a way to do something like what you did but maybe the tailgate stay permanently down. The removal of the tailgate also gives me an idea. If you have any ideas let me know! Thanks for sharing. Very well done.

Rather than an electric blanket or conventional electric heating pad, a FIR (far infrared) or NIR (near infrared) heating pad is likely a better choice. NIR actually penetrates the body more deeply than FIR, but FIR works by heating stones which radiate FIR, so stay warm longer. Some of the smaller FIR pads run off of DC. I have a small FIR neck pad designed to heat the back of the neck which runs off 12V DC. It’s cord is easily detachable (standard barrel plug), and i can quickly unplug it from the power source and walk around while wearing it around my neck. I find it works amazingly well in my house, and that little bit of heat around the neck does much more than i might have imaged to take the chill off the whole body. It has the added benefit of being therapeutic for sore necks, which is what it was primarily designed to do. I just happened to discover the warming effect. Candles are romantic, but candle heaters sound like a bad idea for your tiny cabin. You're going to pollute the air inside of it, as candle combustion is far from complete. Even with no visible smoke, you’re breathing combustion byproducts. Most candles are made of waxes sourced from petrochemicals. Beeswax candles would be healthier, but expensive. Not to mention the fire hazard of an open flame in a small space like that. Carbon monoxide is a concern as well, as is oxygen depletion. An olive oil lamp might be a bit safer, but would have the same combustion, CO, and O2 issues. A modern diesel heater would be much healthier, safer, and less polluting. That may seem counterintuitive at first, but their exhaust goes outdoors, not into your cabin. They have nearly a complete combustion, so aren't polluting much to begin with. I discovered them last week at the Overland Expo, where they were quite popular, so i researched them when i returned home. The air intake and exhaust are through hoses vented outside; a heat exchanger captures and injects heat into your cabin; your cabin air remains clean. Their high efficiency means they sip fuel. Safer and more convenient than propane heaters. Diesel fuel is more readily available, and much easier to manage than propane. It’s a combustable fuel, but not flammable, meaning it’s safer than other liquid fuels like gasoline or kerosene. It also has a higher energy density, meaning the fuel lasts longer for a given amount of heat produced. Diesel heaters do require electricity for ignition, to pump fuel, and run their fan. But their power budget is very low after the initial cold-start; far less than an electric blanket or heating pad. On a low fan setting, i understand they're very quiet. The biggest complaint about their noise seems to be a clicking sound some of the fuel pumps make. I’m told that they'll run about 30 hours on a gallon of fuel. Many have thermostats and timers, so i expect one could run many days on a gallon of fuel. Running a heater should help to reduce condensation as well. Prices range from about $60 at Walmart, to as much as $200 on Amazon. Pretty much the same burn chamber and heat exchanger technology in any of them, but the external format, controllers, and fuel pumps may vary. Some even have wireless remote controls, or BlueTooth interfaces. There’s a tubular model designed for RVs, and a couple different box-style cases for other uses (e.g. garages, sheds, and even rooms in houses). The latter designs tend to incorporate the former, so are in a larger package. Some people buy the RV model, and put them in their own cases. One could place the fuel tank outside, but #2 diesel (found at most gas stations) typically begins to gel at around 15°F. “Heating oil” or #1 diesel doesn’t contain the same paraffins as #2, so gels at much colder temperatures. Some “winter blends” at gas stations also have lower gel points. Your mileage may vary. There are some anti-gelling additives too. Most fuel tanks seal well, however, and are safe to have inside; no smell. The only concern i’d have is spilling the fuel while refilling the tank, but that should be a manageable problem. With a long enough fuel line and sensible placement, one might be able to move the fuel tank outside of the rig for refueling, in case of spillage. I would make sure to have a clamp on the fuel line hose at the tank, however, if moving it about, from time to time. If one has leftover fuel at the end of the season, it can be safely stored until the next (diesel doesn’t go bad as quickly nor in the same way as gasoline). But one does need to ensure algae doesn’t grow in it, during long term storage. Another option is to mix it into a vehicle gas tank. Diesel will burn fine in a gasoline engine, if its concentration isn’t too high. I plan to install a diesel heater when i build my rig. They’re a safe, economical solution, and being cold just sucks.

My wife and I are looking for a way to save money on weekend trips around New England, so I've been looking at a LOT of DIY camper videos. I love your kitchen and pantry solution; it's my favorite design so far. I'm wondering if I could make something with a countertop that has two boards/layers connected by a piano hinge, and the top one flips over to cover the hallway area. I'd have to lower the countertop height so it matched the bed frame, but I think it would work. I like you choice to keep the water outside the cabin. I'll probably leave the sink and grey water outside as well. GREAT JOB! Thank you for sharing!

The hose is designed longer because when you blow down a heavily soiled lawn, your supposed to get that nozzle tip inches from the ground to really blast out the tampered and stomped material. I landscaped for a living for almost 20 years. When you have a blower strapped on your back for 10 hours a day on the spring and fall doing cleanups, you want a long hose so your not bending over all day. Let the machine do the work for you. Sometimes its faster to pull out a rake for tight spots instead of having an extra foot or so hanging off your back fighting to squeeze in

Gorgeous Earth and a Gorgeous Lady with a Beautiful Soul! Raising my children in the Lakota way, anytime they found something they were willing to carry away, I taught them to make a tobacco offering with prayers to the four directions with gratitude. Thank You for sharing! That is a great safe stove/firepit you carry, maybe share who makes it and why you chose it in another video please? For me whether camping from a hike, motorcycle trip or out of my camper watching my breath in the air as the day break star peeks over from the horizon makes all the pains go away and life so much more valuable. Oh Woodsy, you do such an amazing job with your videos..I can tell they are well planned and thought out. Very relaxing. You really have a skill for this. Nature is always inspiring, eh?! We had a nice warm day in the low 50s which is odd for February but this weekend will be the same so I am going to take my van somewhere in the forest and give it a good cleaning and maybe cook some dinner. I have so much to do so we shall see..I'll at least take a country cruise to the lake. It soothes the soul. I used to hike a lot when younger and loved to do so in the winter because the temp is perfect for being hot and sweaty..hehe. I always look forward to being able to see through the trees when the leaves are gone. I'm not a big fan of winter but maybe when I am living the van life, I will feel differently..I think I will. Thank you for another lovely video. Happy trails!
