TONY and I went to Arkansas Ozark Mountains because a snow storm coming in dumping 12". We had planned to use pulk sleds to haul our smokehouse hot hammock tents in to the sandstone castle, but while at Sams Throne waiting for snow to get deep I jumped on Hok skis with my trail running shoes and sprang ankle... so we had to stay where we were and play with toys there...

    My two cents: These tents aren't "China cheap," but you keep your money onshore instead of sending it to a company that is heavily controlled and taxed by a foreign adversary with starving citizens but a formidable military. That said, I have a mini in the lightest polyester fabric available and have only used it once on trail. I will be going to NH to test it in real world conditions the first week of February. I will edit in my personal results when I return.

    I'm looking forward to using my Smokehouse tent and Seek Outside stove this winter. I hiked almost 1100 miles of the Appalachian Trail this year in an attempt to hike the entire 2200 miles in one season before a slip and fall in the mud sent me home with a torn meniscus in my left knee. Doing better now, will resume hiking in New England next month, but another thruhike attempt will have to wait until 2025, when I will be 72. Thanks for the tent. It will be awesome on short snowshoe hikes this winter while I recuperate. 👊

    Also, the chimney gets glowing red hot, especially at the base. This might freak people out. It scared me too , but I had another beer and fell asleep, was just fine and nothing happened. I learned that it's normal for the chimney to glow red. My first experience with having a fire in the tent. As long as you use wood in stove you will be OK. I graduated to using coal pellets and lined my stove with flat step stone bricks, using wood to build heat to ignite the coal ....and a plume, now I get a much longer burn time, so.i don't have to wake every hour to stoke the fire.

    • @smokehousehammock4481

  • @liamalepta8003
    @liamalepta8003 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm looking forward to my hot tent camping this season. Last year, I had to take my brother, who complained the entire time. Some smoke from the stove in tent, but he snores so loud I can't sleep. A little bit of smoke from a wood burning stove won't hurt you. So, I had to keep the fire low ... the whole camp trip sucked because of his whinning, funny though that when I was with my wife or myself....never had such a terrible time. Have a Walmart teepee tent which I turned to a hot tent. Was perfect too, it rained hard that trip and condensation was inside the tent because it was warmer in than out side....that always happens in tent camping. He thought it was leaking.... so, for everyone, if it's raining out and you have a nice wood fire heat going... your tent inside walls will be wet with condensation, that's perfectly normal, the tent isn't leaking. Just bring a few towels and wipe it off if it distresses you. Just relax and enjoy your vacation.

    Hey Mike, enjoyed the video. This is where that SH1 1.9 really excels. I take mine, everytime I go cool season canoe tripping. You should do more videos like this. I was down in your neck of the woods again this spring. Did some hiking on the ouchita trail with the SH1. Ps nice boats!
