Setting off fire alarms in an "abandoned" school

- Fire alarm test #102
This building has a very interesting history. It was originally built in 1979 as a middle school. It was built with what I would assume was a early simplex 2001 FACP with the silver door cabinet. The signals used were simplex 4050-80 light plates with some kind of audible signal. However this building received a system "upgrade" in the late 1990s and the panel was replaced with a Harrington signal HS-3400 addressable FACP with RSG Tbars. The signal of choice was first generation Wheelock AS horn strobes with the unique sideways appearance. However, in order to fit the smaller Wheelock AS onto the original 4050-80 backboxes, simplex 4903 strobe plate bodies were used as retrofit plates. Its also possible that before the Harrington system was installed, Simplex at one point upgraded the 4050-80s to 4903-9101 strobe plates but I do not know for sure. In the early 2010s, this middle school was actually shut down and used by local law enforcement to run active shooter type drills. It has since fallen into a state of disrepair and has a very creepy vibe. Ive heard the district plans on repairing, and reopening this building as a school again in the coming years. It is very cool to be able to explore what feels like an untouched abandoned building urbex site.

Interesting retrofit. I'm reminded of an elementary school in my city that replaced their Simplex 4051+4040-60 horn/lights in 2016 with Wheelock AH-24WP-R horns on RSSPs! (I even salvaged some of the old Simplex alarms in the process!)
Good Check
Cool testing! Those first gen AS Horn/Strobes are rare!
They were more Common in Walmarts built in the Late 90s.
@ Why all the first gen AS Horn Strobes get replaced with frickin SpectrAlert Advances
@aidanthetoiletelevatorfire7554 I question that too. Spectralert Advances are Very Common. But I've been noticing Simplex Systems are starting to become Common Today.
@ They sure are, still love those 4903 Series, QuickAlerts, TrueAlerts, TrueAlert ESs all that good stuff.
@@aidanthetoiletelevatorfire7554 Yes
My Walmart Had These along with the Horizontal versions. After the 2014 Remodel, they have Spectralert Advance Ceiling Mounts. Recently, there replaced a Couple of the ceiling Mount Advances with L Series Ceiling Mounts.
Sad
Odd how the security panel was tripped by the fire panel. Normally that’s not allowed in commercial fire, but could be used as the dialer. Strange pulsed NAC coding too. I spy some old flush mount horns too!
it is not only allowed but it is required in some jurisdictions, Canada requires it
@@alexandersalarms5380 what security siren tone is used for security system
Check
Was this monitored by an alarm company
It just might be monitored by the company he works for..🤦♂️
Cool video! If they repair and reopen this school, it will probably get a system upgrade. They’ll probably add voice evac as required. Very odd coding, too.
@@aerhardt it will not be getting an upgrade as that would require too much money
@@FourtyFiftyEighty what security system is used for that school
Lowe's Home Improvement at Kingston, NY (My Hometown) has 1st Generation Wheelock AS's as well but half of them are on the wall but a lot of them are on the ceiling and they're all wall mounts because I can see the word "FIRE" Sideways which is a Fire Alarm Fail at Lowe's Home Improvement at Kingston, NY (My Hometown).
My high school has the first Gen Wheelock as horn strobes instead of the sideways ones and we also have a voice evac in the cafeteria but the whole system is Wheelock as in the halls woodshop and men and women locker rooms.
1:54 I'm assuming the silver horn on the side was a part of one of the older systems the school had?
Most likely however might be a class horn to switch classes
It’s a class change bell
@@FourtyFiftyEighty awesome
Code 1? Let the drama begin.
Check Code 3 Background Check
Slow march time, I don't remember the BPM
There is no Code 1 or 2
@@soda_coir7595actually code 2 does exist
@@BRISTOLFORCE2009 I know in Emergency vehicles, but idk about fire alarms
in fire alarms yes but idk about emergency vehicles since I’m pretty sure they have code *words*
Weird horn coding.
They have one of those 1st gen Wheelock AS 241575's at my schools.
4:00 strobeless strobe plate retrofit?
Awesome testing! ;)
Is this building slated for demolition in the future?
First Generation Wheelock AS
What code is that doing? Pretty neat!!
More than likely 2 stage
Either code 6 or 7. I know it's past code 4.
20 bpm slow march time
@@STR2K6 20 bpm? that's incredibly rare for march time
@@Will-o5u it’s some Harrington specific pulse tone. However it’s made even weirder by the AS as they take around .5 seconds to sound after they receive power
i have one of these 1st gen in my collection, love it!
Interesting system, I just wish they would do something about that coding. These act like NS's in that they only come on 1 second after they're powered so they really only work on continuous. Slow march time is okay, but the pulse is pretty short and the strobes aren't continuously powered
Real
Seems like there were multiple wave 2’s! Do you know how many?
Wow this system is all sorts of effed up
@@TheJakeman789 it works perfectly so idk what you mean
@@FourtyFiftyEighty it's probably the coding, but people who have been in the field for long enough will know there's not shit wrong with this system, if it aint broke dont fuss or fix it
hahaha
Those ASs are quit cursed
Oddly enough the 4050-80 plates are totally red...
Neat and cool setup
More like “cool & neat”
@EndeavorsDnB ok?
What brand was the slow woop horn strobe
Some sort of security siren. It was connected to the building security system not the main FA system
honeywell ademco wave2 (it isnt a horn strobe.) Its a siren on the security system.
YES CODE 3 ON YOU ALARM SECURITY
That’s rare!
Tresspassing?
Nah, it's his job
It’s abandoned go steal
Maybe if it still had the 4050-80s
Boo. No more 4051s or 4050-80s.
But seriously, my elementary had one of these horns in a multi-purpose room. I SHIT you not that this was the code of it while the rest of the system were on continuous.
