I also found something I haven't seen any of us try in the Intelligence menu. I discovered it after explaining to people how to move vulnerable prisoners to protective custody from the Intelligence/Security submenu. Select a vulnerable prisoner. Use the "Transfer Prisoner" option to recategorize them as PC. Repeat for the other vulnerable prisoners without leaving the menu. However, above the "Transfer Prisoner" option is a "Restrict Prisoner" option. You can use this to tell specific, selected prisoners that they are not allowed in any of the highlighted rooms you select. I haven't seen anybody use that but can envisage how it could be useful to stop violent prisoners going where vulnerable prisoners are before a PC block is set up, or v.v.

There's a "new" tool in Logistics - Labor Management. You can deploy guards to workrooms from there to make the deployment scheduler slightly easier to work with. Some tips with deployment from my own experiments: - set up guard patrols to cover a section of cells 3 or 4 cells long each for night patrols, but a longer patrol using the magenta colour for day time. - do the same on the outside of a cell block so dog patrols cover about 3 or 4 cells each at night but have a longer patrol in the day time. This means that when prisoners are most likely to tunnel, you have more dogs checking for tunnelling activity and a higher chance of catching prisoners in the act. The longer day patrol is just in case you missed somebody and they slipped by your patrol. You will need enough dogs to deploy to these extra routes, since normal playthroughs often only use one long route around a block. However, you will draw down the number of dogs deployed during the day so they can rest. If your dog leaves a tunnel marker at night, it's only a couple of seconds for them to go back over that ground. On getting a second or subsequent marker, use roll call on that security tier. With your guards deployed as described inside the cell block at night, they will watch for anybody late to roll call and flag their cell for an automatic search. If the tunnel isn't found after that, your day time dog patrol will still be able to mark the spot and confirm the likely presence of a tunnel. Don't panic! Nobody tunnels in the day. Use the "Search" tool on the closest toilet to the flag marker - not the "Search toilets" or "Search block" - but "Search" after selecting the toilet. "Search" is specific to the item you selected and is useful to limit how many guards are called away from other duties and limits further raising the prison temperature. Work outwards from the closest toilet one cell at a time. This type of search is supposed to uncover any tunnel that is present 100% of the time and replace the dismantle strategy.

I always plan my prison and 1 thing I do is make halls 5 wide and spread the prison in compartments. The compartments are also designed with secure doors that are always held open and I can close them when there’s a fire or riot in a compartment so it won’t spread as much. At each door are fire extinguishers as well as inside and outside of the compartments and the hallways are surrounded by sprinklers, fitted with fire alarms and also all doors have fire resistant carpet on around them. All employees had fire training. I made a test prison and set the prison on fire in 1 compartment and caused a riot in a compartment and it keeps stuff inside.

For anybody who has the “unscheduled” problem: It says unscheduled because there are no work hours in their regime so they cannot do a class. If you change free time to work or work/free time there it will work

is it a good idea to completely fill up all open jobs for prisoners? for example, lets say i have 5/8 prisoners working in my kitchen. should i fill it all up and make it 8/8?? my main question is, all rooms with labor jobs, should i fill it up with prisoners or should i leave a few spots open? i’m rlly late so i don’t expect a response. but if you do, thanks!

your videos are very good in terms of sound video material and quality. but i found some things you didnt say or you was wrong about, so i have to tell here: - much freetime isnt that good. its a 2 sided sword. one side the prisoners have time to do their needs, on the other side its bad to give them much freedom since they didnt get a good reformation after (just imagine in your country all prisoners have much freedom, you wouldnt be happy about, right?) - visitation is NOT nessesary at all. since you can just place "pet bird" somewhere, they priovide family, luxory and comfort needs all at once. its even bad to have visitation due to the problem of contraband thrown over the fence (same for telephone) or smugled in this room. - luxories is a problem? no, its your problem. use "pet bird" like i told you above. no shop nessesary at all. all will get fine with them - what you say about comfort is 90% wrong, too. not all things you show give comfort. like a big yard or a billard table or a arcade. even the ratings for rooms are not directly right since you can add much items which all give 0 vompfort. tv was right, but better use radios (bigger influence and they are use it passive). -doing a job, to have no drug or alcohol problem? i dodnt think so - i mean, i know its wrong. only thing is a program against it or at least no possibility to get some of the substances they are addicted to. - for spirituality you mainly need just the "prayer mat" somewhere. sure, for max security prisioners you can use the full chapel + program to give them more calmness for the rest of the day - if prisioners didnt get reformed you didnt get fined. i personaly let all go back to normal life after a reformation no matter how high. if they didnt reform, i get no fine. if they do, i get money. and i also get money for new prisioners. so no downside at all. what you didnt say is that not all needs tend to make them riot. so if you start building a smal prison you can prioritise other needs first.

Nice video! Question, will really prisoners be more comfortable in a higher graded room? I thought this only refers to transfers. I mean, if I knew that it has a direct effect on prisoners I would take the extra mile to put more items into them.

FYI bookshelves are bugged in console... They just dont work. The absolute only way to address the literacy need is to have people pass the foundational education program so they can work in the library. I trying to figure out why the kitchen is bugged on console

Very late comment with questions for you! 1) How should a player handle early game snitches & other Protective Custody inmates? 2) What's a good design (and most importantly a good & safe regime) for late game Protective Custody? 3) Do PC ever attack other PC for gang affiliation, due to violent traits, or due to other PC traits? 4) How should you keep gang leaders happy? 5) Can you let Death Row mingle with other prisoner types? 6) When you get a few Legendary prisoners for whatever reason, what should be done with them? 7) Lets say your legendary prisoner goes psychotic & ends up in your peaceful psych ward. Tips?

I dont expect an answer but i have a question about the literature. I placed down bookshelves in the cells, but they still complain about literature i have a library, but i cant get people to pass the Foundation Education Class. So they end up going insane because the needs aren't met.... any tips?
