Evolution of Demonology: Ancient Sumerian Roots and Modern Perspectives Compared
Demonology has fascinated humanity for millennia, but where did these ideas originate, and how have they evolved? In this video, we journey through the origins of demonology, tracing its roots in the ancient myths of Mesopotamia and the Abrahamic faiths, its medieval codification. We also examine how these traditions compare with the modern perspectives of Scientific Naturalism, and its connections to nature-based belief systems rooted in the Proto-Indo-Europeans.
Explore how demonology reflects humanity’s enduring struggle to understand the natural world. From the spiritual view of demons as supernatural entities to the naturalistic perspective of demons as aspects of the psyche or natural forces, we unravel the historical and cultural shifts that shaped these beliefs. Drawing on historical texts such as the Bible, Sumerian myths, and medieval grimoires, this video reveals how these systems of thought influenced our modern understanding of good, evil, and the mysterious.
Whether you’re captivated by history, theology, or philosophy, this video provides thought-provoking insights into the intersection of religion, science, and human understanding.

    I agree the demons are a miasma of our disordered psyches trying to make sense of the chaos around us, it helps us explain things in a larger view. I appreciate your educated explanations and going to our prehistory. When I began researching myself and learned about the Mesopotamian deities, and meditated on them, they felt very different. Long ago I had a friend who used the God Nun as his online handle which began my curiosity and he explained the watery chaos to me and the primordial. It’s been my lifelong fascination.

    So at this point in my own personal journey I have come to accept that all I know is that I don't know anything. I am of the thought that no one can truly know anything due to our ever evolving perception. Can demons and unseen beings exist, of course they can. For if you can imagine them then they are a possibility and as far as I understand all possibilities must in fact exist just to be a possibility in the first place. Great thought inspiring video. Baal from the Canaanite perspective refers the Baal Hadad. Baal itself just means Lord. There were a number of God's carrying that name from various pantheons such as Baal Moloch, Baal Marduk. Saturnus was a Roman God, interestingly was venerated at the last light of the year around the Winter solstice at the celebration of Saturnalia where gift giving and feasting were a part of the celebrations. Wow! I just found this channel! It's right up my alley. I have been doing a deep dive on history of the British Isles. Including Ireland, especially since my research has revealed that my surname Vernon is a corruption of Hibernia. Back in the day, Caesar called us the Iverni. So, imagine being told all your life you are French, but technically aren't. Yes, we did migrate to Eure (ur) on the Seine River to found the village of Vernon, but I consider myself Irish. My mother's side is Welsh and Scots Irish. So we've got all the Isles covered. Also, I can prove that Ireland was the Phoenician Isle of Atlantis that Plato referred to.

    • @TheBrythonicPantheon
      @TheBrythonicPantheon 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @nancyvernon3017 no need for apologies, but this I have to point out is not Irish history. The Celtic culture started in Central Europe in around 1200BC and spread outwards throughout Northern Europe and down to Spain and Portugal. Britain and Ireland were probably the last of the countries to have adopted the Celtic way of life. But they are also the ones who have retained that culture the most. Ireland is often thought to be the hub of Celtic culture and this is because the mythology and stories run very strongly through Ireland with its wealth of celtic literature. Wales though has its own stories, although parallels can often be drawn between the two. Wales also is the home of the most widely spoken Celtic language in the world. The Scots have a combined heritage of both Brythonic and the Irish Gaelic. So Celtic is most often associated with these countries today but the home of Celtic culture really was down in the Alps and central Europe. I don't mean to lecture, but this so widely misunderstood and although the Celts like a good yarn we do cherish our culture. 😀

      There are a few influences that led to the development of Judaism. Originally, they followed the canaanite pantheon, but it's beleived that a certain group of nomads came to settle and integrate with the people around the hills of Judea bringing their god with them Yahweh. The stories start right back there. Then came the conquest of Judea and the Babalonian exile where the leading people of Judea were held captive and in exile in Babylon. It is at this time when the stories and scripts were collected together and collated into the first versions of the bible. This also explains some of the cross over stories and influences from the Babalonians, whose stories in turn were dirrectly influenced by the Sumerian beliefs. There's a lot more to be expanded upon but that will be in another forthcoming story. Hope that helps.

Storm Darragh, I think they called it. This God was not friendly, and he took the roof of one of my out buildings with it as he swept by. So, emergency repairs had to take precedence while there was a break in the weather and before the next storms hit. Which although said repairs are incomplete, the next storms are making an early appearance. Waving fists, stamping feet, cries of vengeance nor libative offerings have made a difference. The good news is, I've recorded most of it. Another one or two more sessions and it should be ready for the edit. Thank you all for being patient, shall be with you as soon as I can get it complete, perhaps another week. Meanwhile, enjoy this remix as a humble consolatory token of my goodwill and friendship.

    This is an updated version of an older video with enhanced audio and extra visuals. Some people complained about being able to hear the rain in the background of the Original. Seeing as it was recorded in a semi outdoor area and didn't really detract from the spoken narrative I thought it was fine, and I still like the original. But for those others, then I've managed to strengthen the audio signal and filter out 95% of the rain noise. There is still a little here and there, you can check the difference between the two and I'd like to hear your opinion. The first better or this remixed one? The original video is here for those who want to check it out. th-cam.com/video/KcBcpza4-P4/w-d-xo.html

      Possibly me too, I think very carefully about what I want to say before saying it. I think a typical trait, never diagnosed or affected my career. Graduated in the top 3% of my university. Clearly, I don't see things the same way as most, having an extremely high mechanical and logical aptitude. I often wonder why others can not see what's so Clearly obvious. Yes difficultly in relating to others, strong attention to detail and an unacceptance of taking anything at face value without proof are characteristics I can relate too, along with some that are listed below. People with autism can have many strengths and abilities, including: Special interests: Autistic people can develop deep expertise in topics that interest them. Attention to detail: Autistic people can be very precise and detail-oriented. Memory: Autistic people can have an excellent long-term memory and be able to remember facts for a long time. Logical thinking: Autistic people can have logical thinking abilities and be able to spot patterns and repetition. Visual learning: Autistic people can learn and think visually. Honesty: Autistic people can be honest and reliable. Creativity: Autistic people can be creative and imaginative. Critical thinking: Autistic people can have critical thinking skills. Disciplined: Autistic people can be disciplined and respectful of authority. Punctual: Autistic people can be very punctual and dependable in regards to schedules and routines.
