Fascinating about the Cornovii- Curnow is a surname in my family and there are a few theories of the family origin: kern invaders from Ireland who anglicized their name to Curnow, simply being from Cornwall they took the Curnow name or descent from the cornovii tribe
@@SithFam there were certainly settlers/invaders from Ireland all along the East Coast of Britain that include Cornwall and Wales, the biggest impact they had though was in Scotland where the Gaelic culture is clearly very strong. Though I've also seen Curnow being used as an alternate spelling for Kurnow. Glad you liked the video.
According to Tacitus's biography of Agricola, the Silures usually had a dark complexion and curly hair. Due to their appearance, Tacitus believed they had crossed over from Spain at an earlier date. The dark complexion of the Silures, their usually curly hair, and the fact that Spain is the opposite shore to them, are an evidence that Iberians of a former date crossed over and occupied these parts.[3] Jordanes, in his Origins and Deeds of the Goths, describes the Silures. The Silures have swarthy features and are usually born with curly black hair, but the inhabitants of Caledonia have reddish hair and large loose-jointed bodies. They are like the Gauls or the Spaniards.
Thank you, yes its believed my many there were migrations and settlement from Iberia. Makes sense really, given the trade relationships of Britain during the the Bronze and Iron age, and does explain the dark complexion found amongst many of the Welsh. Thank you for your comment. Very helpful and very much appreciated.
