Lies and Myths around Micro Four Thirds ( M43 ). Olympus's OMD EM1 Mk2
มุมมอง 67K5 ปีที่แล้ว
There are so many widely held Lies and Myths surrounding Micro Four Thirds ( M43 ) camera systems. Its time I addressed them and showed the PROOF. After 40 years I am saying so long to my Nikon gear and embracing the new, the light, the fast and the mirrorless but not until I share the critical differences and clear the air of the nonsense.
Aurora to the rescue ! HDR Why?
มุมมอง 5695 ปีที่แล้ว
HDR has always been a mixed bag. The results have been ugly and exaggerated. That has led to HDR getting a very bad rep. Trey Radcliffe's works have been an exception to the rule with some very creative use of HDR. He is reported to have had more than a little influence in the development of a new tool for HDR creativity. In this video I walk you through shooting for HDR and using Aurora from S...

WW2 Workshop - Lighting in a Crowded Event with Models
Olympus (or OM Systems), please take note and bring the truth to light: MFT can do everything just as well as full-frame! (I own the M1 Mark II and the OM-1, They are fantastic!!!)
I know this is an old video, but I just stumbled across it as I start my journey into Micro 4/3 cameras. Years ago, I shot with 6 and 8 megapixel aps-c cameras and had no problem with large prints. To me, 20 megapixel is still produces an amazing amount of detail. I just picked up an EM1 16 megapixel for about $200. So far, I'm incredibly impressed! As far as the myths are concerned, I shot some images at 3200 and 6400 ISO, and with the software we have these days, the images looked simply amazing! As far as two card slots.....In 25 years, I have NEVER had an issue with a memory card, but I have had several occasions when the lab messed up my film. I once had to refund a deposit for a wedding because the lab messed up the film for an engagement shoot and the couple didn't trust me to deliver for their wedding. Thanks for keeping this video posted.
I bought an Em1 mark1 with a 4500 shutter count for 180$ two weeks ago. I am a Fujifilm shooter but I prefer the Olympus colors right out of the camera. Em1 is a very nice and is packed with top features! Love it!
Hey, Guitarist Grandpa! I see you're also a Nikon camera dude like myself, and I appreciate your easy to understand video on white balance...THANKS!
How's it going Bob?
@@jrherita still alive. How’s John world going?
Thank you for the info. I just picked one of these up from Facebook Marketplace. It was pretty grubby but I've cleaned it up and have just loaded it's first roll of film for a test.
Hope you are well sir and still enjoying your photography
Great intelligent review sir
Still have my SQA/m and that shiny aluminum tripod in the thumbnail. I use a Bogen/Manfrotto tripod more often though.
Can you fly the drone without it I don't have one and I not acting right since I crashed so do you think it the problem
Probably
Thanks for your video ,if you set the exposure using grey card in outdoor, how do u adjust the exposure for shallow depth of field ,most of the time it will give exposure for deep depth of field
Good question! Depth of field can be controlled by shifting your f stop and compensating with shutter speed or iso on a digital camera. If you open aperture one stop the you must increase your shutter or undo by one stop to compensate. Some cameras use a system called exposure values which makes this adjustment easier.
@@unsungphotographer3412 cool ,if you want to use flash with ambient light how to use grey card to exposure
I love photography as much as the next guy, I picked up the EM-1 Mark 1 as I was younger I bought the GH4 once but was disappointed in the video performance of it (I know big mistake) But at the time there were better machines, Samsung NX1 which I still own today, never selling that one its amazing. Anyway, I got the Olympus with two lenses for 500 euros and Christ what have I been missing out on? Frankly its great, I shot a lot of DSLR in my life but as long as you have good light and fast lenses, the image quality is the same, I used to pixel peep a lot, was like a disease but who pixel peeps when looking at images in regular time though? Very few, Whats amazing is that Olympus actually had a F2 zoom lens 28-70mm full frame equivalent for the Four Thirds systems, DSLR version of MFT and its about the same size as my Samsung NX1 16-50mm F2-2.8 which in itself is impressive and SMALLER than the F2.8 full frame lens I own. Then there is the Pasonic 10-25mm F1.7!!! Yes you heard me, a ZOOM LENS with F1.7? Unheard of right? Well yes and no, if you are familiar with C-mount popular with 16mm film cameras and CCTV cameras back in the day there multiple F1 - F1.2 - F1.7 zoom lenses, but I doubt they are as good as the Panasonic 10-25mm F1.7 in sharpness though! MFT is great and cost effective, small in size its just the right size before it starts getting too small like Pentax Q series cameras which are super tiny mirrorless, or the Nikon J series 1 inch mirrorless cameras.
Thanks for sharing. 😀
it's crazy, I bought it a few years ago, and turns out I can't use my mini rode microphone on it without an adapter. i wanna use my gopro5 for vlogging and sound is awful, if anyone out there found any cheaper hack to this problem, please reply to me, thanks!
A man who knows what he is talking about
Great video! You mention the different film types, but there's very little information on the range of types and application. Idea for future tutorial perhaps?
No diffrence . grey ore white same resault , just try.
Are those woman ? or dudes trying to look like women?????????? and the tattoos kill the look.
Very interesting video. I’m looking to upgrade my TLR Film Camera. I have a Seagull 4a, it’s a Chinese copy of a Rolliflex with a 80mm lens, it takes Great Photos. Been looking at the Mamiya c330, it looks like a real nice camera. You did a great review. Been shooting film since the 1960’s. Got my Canon FTb in the early 70’s. I watched many a video on the Mamiya c330 and checked it out EBay. I would like to buy the camera at a local Camera Shop, don’t have many Camera Stores near my area. Do you deal with a good Camera Shop. Looking at your video, was it shot in Levittown? I grew up in Levittown. I’m going to check out some of your other videos 🎉.
It is unfair to compare a mirrorless crop camera weight to a full frame DSLR. Actually you would think that a quarter frame Olympus would be much lighter then it is.
I’ve been eying the ae1 for years. I may pull the trigger on it.
The bellow is not just for close-up photography, It is a must for the 135 mm, 180 mm, and 250 mm optics, wich are long focal lenses.
China is making 220 film.
So is Kodak, ilford, Fuji and many other labels
The 129 roll film is for 4 x 4 4,5 x 6 6 x 6 6 x 7 6 x 8 6 x 9 6 x 12 6 x 17

The other problem here is it assumes people know what to do with in LR. Would be useful if you showed that.
You need to get the mic closer and shield it from all that noise
Thanks for your valued input. What would I due without your generous expertise.
And it's still 50.00 and it's 2022. I wanted one for my GoPro Hero Session 5...smh!
Dude; lerrrrrv the t-shirt😂🤣😂. My ZB SQ 6x6 arrives Tuesday .. can’t w8. Always wanted 6x6. Had Rolleiflex TLRs & a beaut Kowa SLR MF .. but too old & difficult 2 “kit out”. Am betting if I find later A, Ai, Am or much later SQ-B, am hoping I can reuse lenses & accessories. My 1st priority 2 find waist-level finder & winder crank .. then get a CLA done. Did I say I can’t w8? Fraction the price of H’blad. Don’t are 4 the antique chrome trim/Matt black box fine by me. Phone’s my light meter .. 4 now.
Did you find a cheaper adaptor after 4 years?
Gave up

When you adjust the brightness of your rear screen, think of this gray card.
I have a couple of Olympus hats which I would be more than happy to send you one. Let me know if still need one?
Thanks for the offer, but I'm good.
Loved the dog (a Lab?), panting and just sneaking into the footage...
Thank you for your video sir
Thanks
I use a 25% reflectance digital grey-card for making custom white balances which are extremely accurate. I set my sensor to base ISO, then set my vanilla exposure for calculating the white balance to the middle of the histogram. I tilt the card to 45 degrees to the sun, then make the white balance. The grey-card is free from illuminant metamerism, and consider it a vital piece of kit. Traditional Kodak grey-cards are of 18% reflectance (Ansel Adams got it wrong) and are meant for setting the exposure - not - for making white balances. I also have a cube with white and grey surfaces, a black hole, and with a steel ball bearing attached. With this I can set black and white points, mid exposure, white balance, and set the clipping point for specular highlights.
Very nice
Finally, someone who knows what a grey card is for. And of course, it comes from another guy who has grey hair and started with film like me. I also love your shirt. Rock on grandpa.
I liked your video, very informative but biased towards the Hasselblad, you pointed out all the good things about the Hasselblad and all the bad things about the Bronica but still very informative.
You Should Tell Your FAN People HERE Giving YET Even More Credit Quality Proof =OF THIS Olympus's OMD EM1 MarkII THAT At TIME Of Its First Release DATE That ITS PRICE Was $2000 New BODY ONLY & ACTUALLY $2250.00 After Our Washington State TAX & Yes Now That ITS Older You Can Get it At a Much Better Price LIKE The Reviewer Here STATED, & PLUS NOW ITS Even a much Better Camera Then It Was when it was AT $2200 =ALL Because Of OLYMPUS Recent Release Of The LATEST NEW FIRMWARE UPDATE :-) NOW ITS One Bad ASS Little Camera ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 🍁★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ♫ _/)~~~_/)~~~_/)~~~_/)~~~_/)~~~
Correction The D800 Is 1 3/4th The Weight Of The EM1 MKII :-) Also what a Funny Surprise, =We Both //=YOU & I ..Own 2 Of The Same CAMERAS :-)
I use the gray card to calibrate my incident meter to my lens as each lens will give you a slightly different result as far as exposure is concerned. And I'd rather carry an incident meter than a gray card.
if you could put the filmback of or on without the darkslide in, there is something wrong with your filmback.
Which camera
@@unsungphotographer3412 sorry, I mean the Hasselblad filmback
@@blende5.693 I believe you are correct.
they are ripoff yeah total not fair
Great sensible perspective. I would like to say common sense, but common sense is actually not common at all.
Great job brother new and clean again. Pro style
New sub. The calibrated color grid is intended as a post production reference. 1. WHITE CARD: Set your white balance, then... 2. GRAY CARD: Set your exposure, then... 3. COLOR GRID: Take a frame of the grid to be used as a baseline reference for matching in PP
Really enjoyed the video. I have a Sony a7iii and just got a great deal on the Em1 2. Love it. Probably never use all its features but a great addition rather than another Sony body.
You are 100% correct. Lies about MFT. The exposure is the same between MFT and FF. And truthfully I can not see noise in my Micro Four Thirds images at all-maybe just a hint in the most underexposed parts if I look for it. And another advantage no one mentions-a 1:1 MFT macro is double the magnification of a FF. The 2x larger image works at both the distant and the close distances. For example my 35-100 f/2.8 lens is listed as .1x maximum magnification. But in FF terms, that's .2x. In other words a 1:1 MFT macro camera lens images an area of 13mm x 17mm. Much closer than 24mm x 36mm. The higher pixel density translates into fantastic moon photos. MFT has all the advantages over FF. And no disadvantages.
Better, smaller, lighter, cheaper! ;)
Have wanted a 330 for a long time. However with my budget I may just have to dig out the Duoflex instead. :D
Just got a c330 and I'm lovin it. I've shot 35mm since I was a kid 50+ years ago but 120 fascinates me. And 6×6 is a real composition challenge. 😎👍 just subscribed to your channel.
I just discovered your channel. Great video! You have just helped push my decision to purchase a Mamiya C330f that I had my eye on for quite some time (3 months now). New subscriber here.
