    Man, i love my Pentax K1000. That's always in my bag with my digital. It's just fun and slows me down.

    The retina does not need a battery. It uses a cellenium solar cell to power the movement for the meter.

    I think the camera you're using for video has film envy. It's focused in on all those gorgeous cameras! :>) I'm a new subscriber & greatly enjoyed your trifecta of film related videos.... AND your recent vid on M4/3 which is what brought me to your channel in the first place. I watched your "Studio BTS" video with delight as you switched over to film. Didn't know a contemporary lighting remote was compatible with a regular hot shoe. Now I can update my ol' workhorses, which are primarily Zeiss with a couple Canons & a few oddballs thrown in. Anyway, I look forward to seeing your adventures in M4/3. Don't forget, there seems to be an adapter for darned near every lens there was ever made, to fit up to your M4/3 camera. Wouldn't hurt to post more film or film/digital related stuff. At least not in my book. Should you decide to show film development, develop some Kodachrome in B&W. People should get a kick out of that.
    My best to you/yours, your health & your channel!
    Mike
    P.S. You have an excellent eye for models! They don't look like Twiggy went blind & started digging through a Goodwill dumpster for apparel & accessories.

      I must say a big thank you for your thoughts and generous compliments. I also appreciate you sharing what you would like to see as that is a big help in guiding what videos get made.

      @@unsungphotographer3412 the fantastic thing of that camera is that if you put on whatever nikon lens, even from the fifties, it has a led that tells you when you are in focus!

    The pentax K1000 has a built in lightmeter through the viewfinder. It is fairly accurate, and requires a small battery.

    • @unsungphotographer3412
      @unsungphotographer3412  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      firemedic75 the battery required is originally a mercury battery and that’s not manufactured anymore. That means hunting an equivalent. I haven’t had much luck with those so I consider the k1000 meterless.

    Many happy memories with the Canon AE-1 and A-1! Getting back into film photography after 30+ years away, amazing how inexpensive things are compared to back then - cameras I only dreamed of having then are now in reach. Cheers!

    My Olympus XA2 is now in my pocket, I've just bought a 50mm lens for my Canon AE-1 Programmable and dying to try it out once again.
    There is nothing to beat watching a print comping out in the developing tray!

    A person asked me what digital camera my F4 was, I told them it was a special camera that had 36 sensors built into it approximately 100 MEGAPIXELS! for each sensor LMAO :) Of course we all know that 35mm film is really a crop sensor from "full frame" :0

    The camera your father or grandfather would have used in the 1950s or 60s depended upon his social economic status. Leica for rich,Kodak Retina for the upper middle class and Argus C3 for rest of Amerixa. So popular and common was the Argus that it forced Kodak to make 35mm the small format film standard.

      Argus never forced Kodak to do anything. Kodak introduced the 35mm format we take for granted now around 1932. Motivation: Kodak was introducing Kodachrome and needed a consumer format to sell it. Kodak also bought the Negal (?) camera factory in Germany to start making the long line of Retina 35mm cameras, one of which shown here. Argus started in 1936 to sell the cheapest cameras available using the (by then) very successful 35mm format film, and it didn't get significantly into the camera market until 1938.

    Have a macro bellows? I have one for my old Pentax M42 Spotmatic and don't know how to figure the exposure.

    • @unsungphotographer3412
      @unsungphotographer3412  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im not a Belows user but there is a simple formula out there. Here is a site that provides several calculators including one for managing your bellows. extreme-macro.co.uk/calculators/

    • @randallstewart175

      Let's do that. You bring over your first $50 million dollars for development of the film and processing equipment. Then we'll try to sell the film with pre-sold processing for about $30 a roll to people who want high contrast images with some off colors, shooting at ISO 100 or less, and will wait 3 weeks to see how the pictures turned out. Being 73, I shot Kodachrome in real time, starting with Kodachrome 25. It never lived up to the fantasy promised by Elton John. If you shot a roll of Kodachrome 64 today, you'd probably toss the results in favor of a Provia 100 reshoot.

      Not a fan i see. Though it is unlikely Kodachrome would reappear there is always hope. I loved the color rendition and overall look of Kodachrome. It is very different from modern polite films.
