I find the Goldens Matte Medium causes a white film after it dries over some colors as you can see on your track. One of the reasons why I switched to Liquitex matte medium as when thinned aggressively does not do this. The white film is also an indicator that you can thin it with more water as well. You can make the white/grey film disappear with a thin wash of earth and IPA over top after it dries. Cheers. ;-)😁

Waouch, what an evil place to live , surrounded by that toxic stinky water full of diseases, spiders, ticks, that swamp water full of duckweeds, and that croc´ watching me as its next meal, i run away. Forget OFF stuff to repel mosquitoes, i shout myself with old deadly Flytox stuff😅😅😅😅😅 That layout is a dream. Your swamp water is really convincing with well integrated scenes. That barge idea is a real hint. Since your still building, some You Tube videos could be helpful in giving you ideas. In Russia they still have some narrow gauge railroads. Mainly for peat moss and logging. They range from "not to bad shape " to totally falling apart, passing in some small villages with wood plank houses. Many are decrepits and abandoned. For them that track is the only way out and to receive goods. Videos are well done, some with drones. If you permit me, here is a short with track that you only saw in photos on plate glass. Enjoy that minimalist temporary logging branch on swampy soft ground. Notice trees parallel to the track as subroadbed. Thanks to share your impressive layout. Too bad the camera is shaking. Really nice process ! I am currently hand laying 72 inches of O scale code 148 track. I am using Testor Wood and Metal glue with number 0 truss screws to secure the rails to the ties that I cut. The finished track is in sections. Your layout looks great !
