Restoration of 1958 Olympus ACE interchangeable lens rangefinder film camera.
Olympus ACE was introduced in 1958. It is a rangefinder style 35 mm format film camera. One thing to note is it can change lenses. But there are total of only four lenses were designed for the Ace. 35mm f2.8, 45mm f2.8, 80mm f4 and 80mm f5.6 I think. It used copal leaf shutter which can be fired up to 1/500s shutter speed.
I tired by best for this video. Hope you enjoy and get useful information from video. Thanks. Oh.. don't forget to sub :)

What a great fix. Love these old rangefinders. A good one for you to do, would be the popular Canonet, selenium cell or cds models.

Really a great restoration! One minor remark. The ring that is disassembled at 1:05 you re-assemble in 19:18 in a 180deg turned position. That ring is intended to demped the spring loaded automatic aperture operation. Actually I don't know if it has an effect, but I always take notice to put in the right position.

I did my XD-11 almost a year ago, bought on e-Bay spares or repair, not working, with hanging mirror and no shutter release. (It cost me £23 with a 135mm F1:1.35 lens also faulty, Aperture stuck which I repaired in about 30 minutes. Full shutter CLA it was the mirror release arm sticky grease causing mirror to stick and the shutter just needed a clean same as yours. When I ran a test roll the film was very overexposed, though shutter speeds were spot on. The cause was the ASA pot wiper had been misconnected on the flexiboard, and I had rewired according to my pre-strip photos. I downloaded the service manual and checked the wiring and found the wiper had been wrongly connected by a previous repair attempt gone wrong. I'm happy to say after a 25 hour repair and fault correction process I have a beautiful example of a camera I couldn't afford while working for Minolta service agents Photopia, in the UK when this camera was in production in the late '70's early '80's. Superb video, professional and highly competent repair skills, a pleasure to watch. Liked and Subbed, thank you.

I mostly used silicone lubricants with two type smooth and normal. Just normal ultrasonic cleaner solution which is like soap. You can use a little bit of vinegar (20%) for more rusty parts cleaning.

I think more care and thought went into taking a picture then as with a roll of only 36 exposures, every shot had to count and carelessness cost money! Great video. Many thanks.
