Enthralling, huge respect for your skills and what beautiful pieces of engineering art these cameras are!

Having taken apart a Super ME to replace the mirror washer that goes sticky, it's interesting seeing the little differences here. You have more room to disconnect those wires forward of the shutter button, on the mirror box. The Super ME leaves no slack!

Amazing video! I am currently learning myself and I have a few MEs that i bought for lenses which I can now practice on thanks to your amazing content.
If you ever find the time to do an MX i would be eternally grateful.

I once owned one from new. Excellent engineering with a quiet shutter. Moved on to the Olympus OM2n. Another amazing camera. Those were the days. I think more care and thought went into taking a picture then as with a roll of only 36 exposures, every shot had to count and carelessness cost money! Great video. Many thanks.

i have an MX and it just works, all mechanical. Also bought more simple and cheaper Ricoh XR500 just in case, which is also mechanical.

Really excellent and absorbing video. As a beginner, I'd be very interested to learn how you keep track of where all the components go back, please? Thank you. (UK).

Oh.. that’s nothing special. I took the photos of every steps when disassembled the camera. The service manuals are very very helpful if you can find one on the web!

I just watched your canon AE1 video and was hoping that one day you would make a video about a Pentax me super.
That was fast! although the me "super" has some extra components, such as the "pneumatic shock absorber". Did you enjoy refreshing this camera? Disassembling it is a fun and fairly easy process.

Amazing video! I'm needing to repair the winding mechanism on mine of the same model. Where did you get your tools from?

Absolutely incredible!! You are preserving so much knowledge. I can’t thank you enough. Just starting to get into film repair and its videos like these that give me confidence (and a lot of direction, haha.)
    If you have some time…
What kind of clear grease do you use? Is it just a generic synthetic?
How do you know what temperature to set the ultrasonic cleaner at?
What solution do you drop into the water before putting gears into ultrasonic cleaner?
Thank you again! You deserve millions of subs.

I mostly used silicone lubricants with two type smooth and normal. Just normal ultrasonic cleaner solution which is like soap. You can use a little bit of vinegar (20%) for more rusty parts cleaning.

Great video work editing. How long did the job take? With all the edits etc

It took more than 3 weeks as I remember, because I was mostly recording in my free time. Actually recording and editing the repair process is way more time consuming than actually repair the camera 😂, also I am not a video edit professional.

adjustemnt washers for the mirror box fell down. I do not know how they have to be installed back as they are different thickness. What sould I do? (what they do?) Please let me know

They are for calibration flange to focal distance so that all the lens has same sharpness. you will need the depth micro meter to correctly adjust the distance at all corners of the picture frame. But you can use digital camera setting face to face with analog camera both at infinity focus. Put something flat with lines on the film rail and check from the digital camera whether you get the sharp image or not. Check my canon AV-1 video.

So i have some Me Supers with infinite wind issue. I've managed to do everything.... until, resoldering the mirror box into the body. When I tried to attach the wires, the pads just sort of fell off... This is on those 3 wires and metal ribbon that attach near where the shutter button would be.
I have little to no experience soldering so any advice would be appreciated. Should I be using flux first? What sort of iron temperature?
It's very frustrating as i've almost completed the repair but come up against this hurdle I can't achieve.

    • @VintageResurrection
      @VintageResurrection  หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, you should always use soldering flux. Most soldering station can’t show temp at the soldering iron tip, so starting from 200-250 C temp also fine. But flex circuit can be break or damaged easily so be careful when soldering flex circuit.
