People have not seen one here in years I think it will spark alot of interest.i regretted selling my old one so pleased to get another one they are awesome machines
thats awesome you did an awesome job its satisfying cleaning up the old parts
Thanks 👍
I was thinking this must be possible if only one could get the blank keys. Excellent and really helpful video! Is the supplier of blank keys yourself? It seems that thanks to Brexit (😡) these blanks may not be available to us in the UK.
Thanks, making them is easy and getting them is easy too. Look here www.ebay.fr/itm/146138952995 - I send to UK 😁
Well, thank you very much for those videos. I just disassembled my Solex yesterday. but your Videos are very helpful! Nice Speedy too ;) Cheers from Switzerland
Glad you like them and find them helpful. Good luck with your project
I am not sure how to measure that to be honest. Is it because you need to change the nut? They can be found on eBay and other sites?
The problem I have with a new pump is the 4 old bolts are to short 🤦🏻♂️
Ohh that is not good. Have not bought new pumps only replaced the bolts…
Thank you! It turns out I put the plastic part on back to front- no wonder it didn’t work 😂
Glad this helped you on your project 🛵
Hi.
Correct. This is for the early version only before 2 cables where installed.
Very well explained 😎🤟
Thanks 🙂
Sehr gute Hilfe, danke dafür 😊
You are very welcome
Stupid noice, stop it. If u dont talk keep it quiet
Very good idea!👍👍👍
Simple, but works
Very good video sir
Thanks and welcome. Glad you liked it
hiya ... thanks for the videos, great help. I have just 'tided up' my new 3800 to allow me to run it this summer. Over winter I am considering a full restoration... couple of questions if I can. Powder coat or Paint ? Does the cleaning process deal with minor rust pitting ? Finally how dis you (or didnt you !) deal with the bolts and nuts. Did you buy all new and paint them or clean up existing the paint (assuming you didnt get the bolts and nuts cleaned and powdercoated Thanks in advance ... even simple yes and no answers will really help 🙂
Hi, i had mine sand blasted and then powder coat by a local company after it was taken a part and cleaned for dirt/oil. For bolts and nuts i cleaned them and then used electrolyses to remove rust. When i replaced bolts i replaced with stainless steel when possible
@@classicrestoration49 thanks for taking the time respond... Very much appreciated
Hi, I have been following your video. I bought a rebuild kit with it came two different 1:59 oil seals. However in your video I only see you mount one one the crankshaft. Where would the other one go?
There is only one, but depending on your model it is either one or the other. I guess your rebuild kit has both models included just in case?
Hi Classic restoration, I'm rebuilding a fuel pump for a 2000 3800 impex and the glass balls look smaller than yours. The motor is also slower than my other one, same year. Do you think that would cause problems? I think someone rebuilt it with wrong replacement balls.
It could be. The glass balls isn’t expensive, so easy to replace. What about air-filter. Is it clean? And exaust pipe, clean?
@@classicrestoration49 Finished the rebuild of the motor and everything's good now. The carbs intake into the motor is leaking but I know it still has the plastic ring and the connection is probably loose. I think I fixed the power issue, it was probably a dirty carb.
Hi, thanks for the extra Key for my 1700 lock that you sent a couple of weeks ago. Just a quick question, if I can? On my 1700 engine the HT lead has a metal spark plug cap and metal sheath on the HT cable. It has bit that comes off of it to a earthing bolt on the engine casing, is this earthing point absolutely necessary, as the 3800 doesn't appear to have one. Thanks, Jeff
You are welcome Jeff, how is it making the keys? I am not sure about the 1700 to be honest, but guess it is worth trying without and see if you get spark?
@@classicrestoration49 Hi and thank you again. I haven't got round to the keys yet, probably towards the end. I am slowly powder coating all the bits of the frame, but lots of little bits and pieces to do before I can get it back together again. I try and make one video a week, so have done a part strip down of the engine for next week's video. I have now got to get the cylinder and brackets painted by next week. Take care, Jeff
The strut of the luggage carrier is set inwards!
Yeah I realize that after completing the video…
Hi and thanks for the video. I have a 1700, with the same lock and want to try and do the same as you. Please could you tell me what type of blank keys that I need to order. Take care, Jeff
Hi Jeff, if the lock are the same you will need this www.ebay.fr/itm/144280684129. If your lock are different, please send a picture and I'll try to help you
@@classicrestoration49 That's fantastic, yes that's the same lock. Thank you very much for your help. Take care, Jeff
@@DiecastPowderCoating You are welcome. I packed an extra key for you, since you subscribe to my channel. I will contact you via eBay for some additional information for the shipment
@@classicrestoration49 Hi and thank you very much, that's very kind of you. Although I think your Velosolex is a 3800 I will find your videos very helpful. Thanks again, Jeff
great

very nice explanation
Thanks, hope it is helpfull
I love this, thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Good luck finding you own Solex in Mexico 🛵
Hi, why didn't you put engine sealant every time you installed a new gasket? It is not needed? I ask because I will soon be dismantling the engine of my Solex and I wanted to see what type of sealant is usually used during reassembly since I will be replacing all the gaskets. Thank you!
Hi, good question. I sometimes put a little synthetic oil to keep gasket in place when assembling , but not always. I don’t use something else to seal it. Hope this helps.
i never saw something like this, genial.....
It has a roll that touches the front wheel and males it turn around.
Great. Thanks. I just bought a 2004 4800 with a probable shot membrane. Dave from New Zealand
Hi Dave, hope the content can help you get the bike running again. Enjoy
awefull, dreadfull, annoying dumbed down repetitive background noise, turn it off, unwatchable
Super! Danke für die Anleitung!
You are very welcome. Happy it is useful for you.
Good work

Hello. My solex has been sitting during the winter and this week when I started it I noticed that I had to have the choke at all times even when the motor was warm and it was overall very sluggish. I looked at the carb and noticed that there was fuel on the inlet pipe. I tried spraying starter spray on the pipe and it started revving up so I thought that it must be the plastic seal that's gone bad. I changed it but now it's even more sluggish. Any suggestion on how to fix it and if there could be any other problem?
Any false air? Try tighten the cyl and carb?
@classicrestoration4948 Hello again. I tried tightening all the nuts and bolts and tried changing back to the original plastic seal on the carb just to see if it would make a difference, and it fixed itself! None of the screws were loose so I don't really know what the issue was. I'm just gonna leave it as it is but if it decides to start behaving all weird again, I'm thinking of renovating the whole engine.
Great tips, thanks so much for post it
My pleasure!
I am very interested in the review of the nos moped video, nice to meet you, from Bromfiet Indonesia
Hi! Where do you bought the chrome decoration (00:29:56)?
There are many sites online. I most often buy from CafeSolex in france…
Cómo me gustaría bolber a tener una tengo buenos recuerdos
Loose the accent.
What size needle bearings do I need to use on each side of the connecting rod?
It is one 6202 - 2RSR size: Ø15 X 35 X 16mm and one 6203 size: Ø17X40X12mm
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
I just purchased a 3800 that will need a complete rebuild and I was happy to find your videos on TH-cam. Very well done and I appreciate you mentioning the size of the sockets. Your finished bike looks amazing.

I am currently repairing my old VeloSolex 4600 V2. I was wondering if you have an idea on where I can get new tires for cheap. Those damn things are so expensive now.
No idea wheee to get them cheap. I uses various dealers in Europe to get parts, tires are always like 25€ for one…
Clear picture and sound. Straightforward instructions . Thanks
Thanks Kim
