Archery rant! What do differences in arrows matter?
Back in the 70s and 80s all compounds were longer. 35" would be unheard of and short. This guy wouldnt have bowhunted
@@dougk5 This is comparing apples to oranges. Bows from the 70s and 80s are totally different than bows today. Also, the entire industry was different. It comes down to preference; I prefer shorter bows. If you prefer a longer one, there is nothing wrong with that.
Congrats on graduating brother.
@@SouthernDrawTN Thanks man! I appreciate it!
I have same 10/22
@@jamescdean9010 Nice! They are great little guns!
You have to tune and balance the arrow as well!-not just tuning the bow! This is extremely important for pin point accuracy …understanding arrow harmonics/bending and flexing of the arrow in flight/dynamic spine….understanding your numbers KE/momentum, FOC, shooting the correct spine…understand your equipment and a deers body language…read the Chuck Adams article-the shocking science of string jumping…a mechanical broadhead can take anywhere from 3X to as much as 6X as much force needed to penetrate compared to a fixed blade…are you going to be lethal at 50-60-70-80 yards with a mechanical and your setup-even with a perfectly tuned and balanced arrow and bow? Watch here on youtube: Bone Collector arrow bounced off a booner…why did that arrow fail? Deer was shot at less than 30 yards…why do so many hunting videos show ppl shooting a compound bow at a deer 20-30 yards and maybe only getting 5-6 inches of penetration and having to track that deer for hours or never recovering? Understanding your KE/momentum numbers and how much is being taken away by that mechanical broadhead is the answer…there is alot more to this than just the bow
I learned importance of tuning when I did my first string change on a bear limitless it was my first bow. Getting ready for season my broadhead was hitting 8 inches right of my field point at 20 yards. I went to the shop and they had to adjust the yokes to get me flying right again. I wouldn't have been able to move the rest enough to get them impacting in the same spot.
@@tylersmith7415 It’s great that you actually learned what the problem was instead of just handing over your bow and paying them to fix it! That is how we get better! Good luck this season!
There is no problem hunting with a 35 especially as big as you are it shouldn't be a thing
@@MarkCampbell-c7z I would never say there is anything wrong with hunting with a 35. I’m 5’11” and my arms are just long enough to make the cam on a 33 hover just an inch or two above the ground. A 35 would certainly scrape the ground. I am considering getting one of the Mule stabilizer attachments to try and if that works, I could see myself hunting with a 35.
Hey man. I have the new lift and I’m pretty sure your 31 is the same way. What way do you run your fletchings in your rest to keep it from hitting stuff on your bow?
@@SwampLifeAdventures I run an odd vane up setup. You could do a four fletch as well. If that doesn’t work, just rotate your nock on the arrow until you don’t have any contact after the shot. Hope that helps!
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 okay I been doing odd left to where the other 2 miss that string wheel
@@SwampLifeAdventures I’ve shot like that before. I didn’t notice any difference even out to 130 yards. Nothing wrong with it! Just shoot what gives you the most confidence!
What lighted nocks are you shooting with your victory rips?
@@JakeBledsoe I have been shooting Halo nocks. I definitely like them more than Nocturnal.
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 gotcha I will have to try those out.
Halo are the best for sure. The back end weight of lighted nocs is always a concern but even more so is the Noc fit with a standard serving. Regardless of the brand I’ve always had to re-serve my string for the fit I want.
Good luck opening day.
@@kellyskinner7282 You as well!
Why dont you like bowtech? Just curious.
@@stephenswansonjr1377 My main reason is they went back in their contracts with Kyle Douglas and Tim Gillingham. I like their SS34 and the Solution line but I don’t really care for the Core bows they are making.
I shot threadzs for years with no issues... Most of the time when you have a separation there is caused from over-tightening the loop or using the loop to counter rotating strings. You can also have that issue if you waxed the string where the serving goes.. Clean all the wax off and reserve
@@csoultrain80 I appreciate the advice! However, I do not wax my strings much at all and avoid the serving entirely when waxing. My loop may be too tight. I’ll try to see if there is something I can do for that.
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 if you do reserve it try to remove any wax that may be in their previously.
That b3 sight looks nice man. I used to have the cheapest b3 exact. It was the 100 dollar one. It was nice, just barebones.
For the podium stabilizer do you have to use their podium weights? Or can I order some sort of universal weights instead?
@@wpshelton You can use other weights. I’ve put some Conquest weights on mine before so any standard size/thread weight should work. Hope that helps!
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 I have been looking at long stabilizers, the price point of these got my attention. Nice little review. A bit more info about the threads. The 5/16-24 thread is the standard for the stabilizer mount end, I have never seen anything else there. Weight end seems to have either 1/4-20 or 5/16-24, but there doesn't seem to be a overall "standard". A quick search looks like Conquest weights are the 5/16-24 thread.
@@Blazer-fp8fo Good to know! Thanks for sharing that!
Im running sonic 6.0 in a 300 spin with standard inserts and 125 grain Sevr 1.5 hybrid and for fletching I’m running the 3 inch 2 white and one is red white and blue totally arrow weight is 432 grains this is without a lighted nock. I’m shooting around 286 fps and it’s very accurate. I am considering changing to the 4mm long range next year.
@@brandonneff3432 It’s so hard to beat those 6.0s! I thought about going to the 4mm long range but then I found the Victory RIPs. They are less expensive and I like the GPI and components better on the RIPs. Best of luck with whatever you choose to shoot!
GR Micro Hades; GAS strings. Beast broadhead is ridiculous sharp w/chisel tip for mechanicals. Beasts are on back order, but worth it if you need a late season mechanical 🤘🏻 Good luck this season! PS, AAE HP vane if you’re running the exodus, or any fixed 3 or 4 blade. I’ve found they steer notably better 👍🏻 God Bless
@@wahoddad Thanks for the recommendations! The Micro Hades is definitely one I’m considering! I’ve also thought about those AAE vanes you mentioned. I may try a setup with those! Good luck this season and God bless!!

Rip TKO partnered with UltraView to make these arrows.
@@erickramer4580 Yes. The 1k in the RIP TKO arrows is the same technology as the UV 1Ks.
Everyone wants the highest quality hunting equipment. Whether it’s arrows , sights, even bows but no one wants to pay the money. They complain too complain. UltraView is in my opinion on top of their game. Quality is outstanding and I don’t mind spending the extra money because I know the product I’m buying is the best of the best..
@@erickramer4580 You’re right. That is my point.
That video was hard to watch.😢

I wouldnt do anything less than 550. I shoot 510 normally for whitetail. Just do some dr ashby research. Which were done on animals thos big. It will tell you what you need to know.
@@michaelbushey2787 I definitely agree with 550+ for that size animal. I’ve not had anyone I’ve talked to ever have trouble getting penetration on deer though. I have nothing against anyone who shoots a heavier arrow than I do. I just like the ones around 400-450 for distance shooting in the off season. I love shooting at 80-100 yards and the trajectory even from a 400 grain arrow to a 450 is pretty drastic. I also don’t like expensive arrows so Victory RIPs, Sonic 6.0s, and Gold Tip Hunter XTs work great for me!
Have too many bows, PSE brute nxt, PSE supra max, bear Alaskan, bowtech ss34, my newest. I have a problem. Only been shooting a bow for 2 years. Also have bows for my daughters, Genesis, barnet youth compound, and diamond razor Edge. I run front and rear bars on all but the Alaskan, that I have 4oz bolted through the lower quiver mount and a 8 in trophy ridge with 3 oz up front. Balances nicely without rest bar. Chris Bee is on of the people I have watched since I started out in archery. It was a sickening feeling, I didn't watch the whole vid. I was surprised. I think he is under too much pressure to prove their product, and just wasn't thinking about what if I miss. Everyone makes a s*** shot once in awhile. I do hope that he does feel bad about that, maybe he'll wait next time for a better shot. I'll still watch Chris, but like I said every hunter has a bad shot. And in my opinion if you say you never took a bad shot then you're lying.
@@markkobza8129 You’re right about taking bad shots. I’ve done that more times than I care to admit. But he also took a long shot at an antelope a few years back and missed. I know how much buck fever can get you going but even then, we have to be responsible and only take good shots. What I’m saying is he needs to hold himself accountable and instead of excusing away a non-fatal hit, he needs to just not take those shots. If I was Kolby at Ultraview, I’d be pretty upset with that video because it makes my product look bad.
Any tips on draw weight strength im at 60 pounds at 14 but i feel like i need to pull more how can you pull so much
@@JakeBledsoe The biggest thing is form. If you draw like Chris Bee, you can pull a lot with little effort. It also protects your shoulders. Second, a bow that feels smooth to you helps out a lot. I’m also a big guy so that doesn’t hurt anything. But if you shoot lights out with 60 lbs, I wouldn’t go higher if you’re still 14. I know a kid who got a good sized buck with 35-40 lbs of draw weight, short draw length. All about shot placement!
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 I understand. The buck on my profile picture I killed when I was 11 with 40 but I didn’t get a pass through this year im shooting 60 with a victory rip weighing in at 393 grains do you think I can get pass throughs with that?
@@JakeBledsoe You should get a pass through with a good broadside/ quartered away shot. It also depends on your broadhead. The Victory RIP will give you good FOC too which is a big plus.

Elite Envision...Jon has stated in multiple podcasts his reasoning for the move back to Hoyt, he wanted to end his career with his friends. The president is a good friend and tournament buddy from his early days as well as a couple others. PSE signed a 5 year with him in order to get the company ready to be saleable, by designing new products that would place them in a good position in the market. Hoyt and PSE the largest target offerings, Mathews has 2 (new) target bow and loads of advertising dollars for shooters. Hoyt dominates world markets especially in target.

Thank you for the videos. I wonder how the exalt’s draw cycle compares to the verdict or ethos? I am looking at the exalt for an indoor and 3d bow. I am also wondering how it compares to the reckoning 36.
@@John-cz3hp I appreciate the support! I can’t speak on the Reckoning or Verdict, but the Exalt is even smoother than the Ethos. I’m a fan of the Ethos as a platform and if it had all the technology that is in the Exalt, I would likely be shooting one right now. The Exalt would be perfect for both indoor and 3d.
I really like Elite bows as a brand, I really want to shoot the Exalt 35 to me they are some of the most stable bows I have shot and they have a lot of adjustment to make them feel like I want. To me that’s the one of the worst thing about Mathews bows is they are just not as adjustable as Elite or Hoyt now.
@@jamestipton9762 I would say the lack of tuning is a big issue for Mathews but Hoyt is no better. They both share top hat/spacers at the cam and yoke tuning, by far the worst in their class. Elite and Bowtech have tuning down to a science and PSE bows are pretty easy to tune as long as you have a press. Elite is definitely the most target minded bow manufacturer and they probably make the most forgiving and accurate flagship bows on the market.
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 I agree, Bowtechs are really adjustable too but I had a couple of them and for me they just weren’t as stable for me but they were pretty fast. Thank you for making Great videos I really enjoy them .
