What to consider when buying a new bow!
Try the Quattro Vilago. Best hunting stabs on the market imo.
@@douglasvaughn9530 I’ve heard a lot of good about them. Maybe I’ll give them a try sometime!
It has to compete with other bows at the same price point. I personally use the integrated features on Hoyt and Mathews and it matters to me when choosing a new bow. Certainly not the most important to me, but it matters.
@@BY-dq3mt I think most archers will agree with you on that. I just feel like they could have charged less for the bow since it doesn’t have those features.
Great video joel. Looks like fun.
@@SouthernDrawTN Thanks man!
I thought this was going to be a video about the Elite Exalt not someone licking someones bum who shoots another brand. So disappointing
Can't knock it til you try it. Prime makes a nasty bow. Love the creativity.
Yea i've been shooting the RVX32, Of course i just bought it less than a year ago and they release this. I've already reached out to my local dealer to go down and shoot it between now and the new years. I don't personally like the way it looks but I bet it slings em like a knife through butter, at a slower speed of course, but like you said, just go 80 baby.
@@SouthernDrawTN I also think people are overreacting. When Mathews released the Phase 4, everyone lost their minds saying the limbs would blow up. Doesn’t seem to be the case. I would really love to see durability after a few years in the field. Hopefully I’ll get to put my hands on one in a few months!
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 Joel, people want creativity and innovation, for the archery equipment and community to grow and move forward, then when a company like Prime takes a risk and does something out of the ordinary (that's pretty clever imo) everyone complains and moans about it. I'm convinced that people just like to complain and want something to cry about nowadays. Yea man, i'd like to know what your thoughts are once you shoot one. Let me know.
@ You’re right! Absolutely, undoubtedly right! When a bigger player in the industry does the same thing, more people will hop on board. It’s just another thing to say is “bad” because it’s not traditional. All innovation is met with resistance and this could definitely be a big step for archery! I’m really excited to get my hands on one at some point!
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 yea, i do wonder why not just do the entire bow carbon, is it a cost thing? Do you know?
It was a waste of a release date I think. I know someone will buy it but there is a sucker born every minute
@@Joshua-1986 I think you are right on the aluminum bows. Their biggest thing was the speed mod which just put them close to everyone else’s normal speed. However, I think the concept of their “carbon” bow is interesting. Of course, I would love to see someone else test it out before I get one but it could prove extremely effective.
Nope always control the barrel
I been shooting these since they came out and I love them. Was shooting victory vap . Your arrows are your projectiles that actually do the killing. You put a lot of money in your bow, tags, clothes and other equipment. When you buy bullets for your rifle you buy the best because it is what kills or shoots best. So why wouldn’t you want the best arrow you can buy no matter what arrow it is.
@@3565891 That is a good point. For me, I generally try to spend as little on stuff as possible. I like Magellan camo and Hornady American Whitetail for hunting. But you are right. Most guys splurge on everything else, why cheap out on arrows? Great point!
Ive shot my mossberg 30/06 one handed thats nothing 😂😂
Ya shot guns unless its a slug most have litte to no Recoil.
Specially with a adjustable stock with a buffer spring in it 😂😂
Tell em joel 💪
Have you checked the timing on a draw board? Just curious if everything is in spec. Are the cams the same on the v3x and ph4?
@@Dan_Akins We didn’t ever check timing on the Phase 4 but it was always really accurate. The V3X is in time. The cams are the same and take the same mods.
I’m confused. Four months ago you made a video rationalizing/justifying the price of Ultraview arrows. In this video you are essentially calling out Hoyt for their pricing. This seems inconsistent. Surely there is overlap…..a person who would buy Ultraview arrows is also a person who would buy Hoyt carbon, no? Keep up the good work with your videos. They are informative and interesting.
@@BY-dq3mt The Ultraview arrow video was more to explain why the price is so high. My intentions were not to justify the price. However, with Hoyt, their prices climb every year and it seems that they just kinda do the bare minimum whereas Ultraview actually created a pretty unique product. I hope that clears the air some on this!
Thanks for responding. I agree with you on the Hoyt price structure. The value for money is objectively not there. Hoyt makes good stuff and I’ve owned several over the years, but I’m not a buyer these days.
Yea bro, just do it Joel. Do what you want to do. It's your channel, that's what makes it fun. I'll watch em.
@@SouthernDrawTN Thanks man! It means a lot to have support. Also, it seems like you have been having a great season so far! Keep it up!
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 Thank you Joel, the lord has blessed us. Congrats on your doe this year. God bless.
Can you remove the damper part by hand? And isn't there a space for the damper in the removed part?
I want to remove the damper and use it, but I'm afraid it'll get even weirder.
For what I’ve seen at my shop they will be about 100 dollars cheaper (still not worth it) but my shop in town does bundle deals so maybe it will be decent but I am gonna stick with mathews
@@JakeBledsoe I’m glad they are cheaper somewhere. I don’t know why they would list higher than MSRP but hey, I don’t know why Hoyt does any of things they do.
With what darton and elite have to offer Hoyt doesn't even come close to peeking my interest at all
@@clintskeens I cannot agree more. They have just not kept up with the industry.
Back bar? I only see a string stop
@@mikebaker2840 I said there was no backbar on the bow.
There not going to be that price in the store
@@Joshua-1986 Do you think higher or lower? I know my local Hoyt dealer will be the advertised price. He doesn’t give any deals
Pretty fair price on the aluminum bows for the 29.5 and 33. The trade in value is the highest of any company.
@@snboutdoors9567 Are you talking about Mathews or Hoyt?
I think the prices are ridiculously over what they should be. The Hoyt carbons aren't even made in America. That being said , Mathew s drops the 19, and not sure when bowtech drops. So far, I'm really interested in the darton sequel 31st². I just can't believe the amount of money all of them are asking at this point ....
@@markkobza8129 It’s insane. Hoyt has lost their mind on this one. I could understand the increase if they had actually added some easy tuning system and cut more weight out, but they just didn’t do enough to warrant that much of an increase.
Lol I said I wasn't going to get another bow for 5 years after getting my RVX32 but I'm a sucker for new stuff. may have to try that new PSE carbon bow out.
@@SouthernDrawTN PSE makes a great bow. I looked back over the year though and it almost made me sick to see the amount of money I’ve spent on archery. If anything, I plan to go down to 1 or 2 bows because three is just too much to maintain and shoot and all that.
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 Well i only have one, so if you want to lighten the load, just donate one over here :P lol j/k. I can barely keep up with one.
I have the triax,v3x29, lift 29.5. The lift is a no brainer to me with amazing with a bridge lock stabilizer it adds enough substance to it but not to much weight. It’s a sweet shooter with that longer straighter riser. Also from what was leaked by Chris bee probably why he hasn’t made a video in awhile. They added a 27” bow and they dropped the top hat system and adopted the easy tune feature. Only needed an Allen wrench. Also changed the grip. The shot sense wasn’t supposed to drop until 2025 but they did because they already made the cutout on the riser for the lift to reduce weight so they added it just to generate extra revenue. 27” 29.5 and a 33”… some guys claim they added a faster bow 371ibo
@@charlie-xu4zu Sounds like a big year for Mathews! I stopped watching Chris B after the buffalo video so I haven’t seen the leak. But if they have fixed the tuning issue and the grip, they may have a near perfect bow!
@ I hate the grip. I used a cheese greater to square off the roundness on my lift since I didn’t have a dremel and it shoots so much better and the grip is a little tackier. There is no link to the video anymore I’ve tried over and over to find it. Believe it came out in April or may. I usually buy every other bow and wasn’t sure about the lift limbs being so short and limb pockets being deep I figured limbs would fracture and I had shoulder surgery so I just bought one recently just killed my biggest buck in Michigan public but I used my crossbow and shot it left handed from the ground leaning against a tree with no cover so I had a handicap there. I can draw fine just really shaky and don’t wanna injure a deer because I can’t float my pins well enough yet. I saw that video of the buffaloe then like an hr later it disappeared.
I'm still rocking a 2011 Z7 Extreme 😂
@@Coyotehunter243 Nothing wrong with that! As long as you are happy and successful!
@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 100% .. I've killed alot of deer and other animals with it... that bow and My set up is proof you don't need to be fast .. 27 inch draw.. 65lbs.. 472 gr arrow... 242 fps .. and it's a hammer!
@ Awesome! Sounds like a hammer of a bow!
Z7X is an awesome bow. I still love the older Mathews as well. I just hunted today with my Creed.
It will kill bro don’t have to get news bows all the time. Recurve bows never change they still get the job done to
Great vid man! Any ideas on anything Mathews is doing new this year I’m assuming same riser and limbs stile just some new colors, and maybe some different ata sizes hopefully they make a 27 again if so I’m getting one for sure!
@@JakeBledsoe I hope they go for a new tuning and timing system like Darton. The Lift is already so popular that I believe the easy tunability would almost shut every other company down. For sizes, I’d love to see another 31. 34-35 would also be competitive in the current market. I think Elite hit the nail on the head with a 30 and 35, covering guys who want a compact bow and those desiring a longer, more stable platform. That said, I have heard 27 and 31 like the V3. Adding tunability and a 35 to that list would be devastating for the whole industry.
@ I agree! I am just a really big fan of those short bows! I have the v3 27 and absolutely love it! It’s just so compact. Have you shot one?
@@JakeBledsoe I have not been able to get my hands on a V3 27. I would definitely like to at some point and I think ultra compact bows are really cool but at 29.5” of draw, I max out the 27.
@ yea that makes sense I only have a 27 inch draw so it is a good fit for me
@ Absolutely! A 27 inch draw is perfect for that bow! I hope Mathews will circle back to the shorter bows at some point and also go over 33 on the hunting side.
Good video! Ive got a 27” draw & cannot wait to get the exalt 35! This bow has my attention. Currently shooting a phase 4 29” and have hated it ever since I purchased it. I definitely prefer a longer bow. I’ve hunted with 33-37” bows before & the length doesn’t pose a problem for me. If I can use my recurves out of my stands & saddles I can handle a 35” bow. I remember I had a XLR one time, I think it was 37” & I’ve never since shot a bow as good as that one. I’m hoping the exalt is gonna be like a newer version of that.
@@Gaining_Elevation I’m excited to see how every other company will respond to the Exalt and Dartons new Sequel 35! The more I shoot, the more I learn toward the longer bows. I would love to get one and put it through its paces in the woods.
Was just about to buy this sight as it’s on sale right now glad you point led out the individual Hash marks. Thanks!

Back in the 70s and 80s all compounds were longer. 35" would be unheard of and short. This guy wouldnt have bowhunted
@@dougk5 This is comparing apples to oranges. Bows from the 70s and 80s are totally different than bows today. Also, the entire industry was different. It comes down to preference; I prefer shorter bows. If you prefer a longer one, there is nothing wrong with that.

@@jamescdean9010 Nice! They are great little guns!
You have to tune and balance the arrow as well!-not just tuning the bow! This is extremely important for pin point accuracy …understanding arrow harmonics/bending and flexing of the arrow in flight/dynamic spine….understanding your numbers KE/momentum, FOC, shooting the correct spine…understand your equipment and a deers body language…read the Chuck Adams article-the shocking science of string jumping…a mechanical broadhead can take anywhere from 3X to as much as 6X as much force needed to penetrate compared to a fixed blade…are you going to be lethal at 50-60-70-80 yards with a mechanical and your setup-even with a perfectly tuned and balanced arrow and bow? Watch here on youtube: Bone Collector arrow bounced off a booner…why did that arrow fail? Deer was shot at less than 30 yards…why do so many hunting videos show ppl shooting a compound bow at a deer 20-30 yards and maybe only getting 5-6 inches of penetration and having to track that deer for hours or never recovering? Understanding your KE/momentum numbers and how much is being taken away by that mechanical broadhead is the answer…there is alot more to this than just the bow
I learned importance of tuning when I did my first string change on a bear limitless it was my first bow. Getting ready for season my broadhead was hitting 8 inches right of my field point at 20 yards. I went to the shop and they had to adjust the yokes to get me flying right again. I wouldn't have been able to move the rest enough to get them impacting in the same spot.
@@tylersmith7415 It’s great that you actually learned what the problem was instead of just handing over your bow and paying them to fix it! That is how we get better! Good luck this season!
There is no problem hunting with a 35 especially as big as you are it shouldn't be a thing
@@MarkCampbell-c7z I would never say there is anything wrong with hunting with a 35. I’m 5’11” and my arms are just long enough to make the cam on a 33 hover just an inch or two above the ground. A 35 would certainly scrape the ground. I am considering getting one of the Mule stabilizer attachments to try and if that works, I could see myself hunting with a 35.
Hey man. I have the new lift and I’m pretty sure your 31 is the same way. What way do you run your fletchings in your rest to keep it from hitting stuff on your bow?
@@SwampLifeAdventures I run an odd vane up setup. You could do a four fletch as well. If that doesn’t work, just rotate your nock on the arrow until you don’t have any contact after the shot. Hope that helps!
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 okay I been doing odd left to where the other 2 miss that string wheel
@@SwampLifeAdventures I’ve shot like that before. I didn’t notice any difference even out to 130 yards. Nothing wrong with it! Just shoot what gives you the most confidence!
What lighted nocks are you shooting with your victory rips?
@@JakeBledsoe I have been shooting Halo nocks. I definitely like them more than Nocturnal.
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 gotcha I will have to try those out.
Halo are the best for sure. The back end weight of lighted nocs is always a concern but even more so is the Noc fit with a standard serving. Regardless of the brand I’ve always had to re-serve my string for the fit I want.
Good luck opening day.
@@kellyskinner7282 You as well!
Why dont you like bowtech? Just curious.
@@stephenswansonjr1377 My main reason is they went back in their contracts with Kyle Douglas and Tim Gillingham. I like their SS34 and the Solution line but I don’t really care for the Core bows they are making.
I shot threadzs for years with no issues... Most of the time when you have a separation there is caused from over-tightening the loop or using the loop to counter rotating strings. You can also have that issue if you waxed the string where the serving goes.. Clean all the wax off and reserve
@@csoultrain80 I appreciate the advice! However, I do not wax my strings much at all and avoid the serving entirely when waxing. My loop may be too tight. I’ll try to see if there is something I can do for that.
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 if you do reserve it try to remove any wax that may be in their previously.
That b3 sight looks nice man. I used to have the cheapest b3 exact. It was the 100 dollar one. It was nice, just barebones.
For the podium stabilizer do you have to use their podium weights? Or can I order some sort of universal weights instead?
@@wpshelton You can use other weights. I’ve put some Conquest weights on mine before so any standard size/thread weight should work. Hope that helps!
@@joelculpepperoutdoors4262 I have been looking at long stabilizers, the price point of these got my attention. Nice little review. A bit more info about the threads. The 5/16-24 thread is the standard for the stabilizer mount end, I have never seen anything else there. Weight end seems to have either 1/4-20 or 5/16-24, but there doesn't seem to be a overall "standard". A quick search looks like Conquest weights are the 5/16-24 thread.
